WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS.
WORLD BODYBUILDING ENCYCLOPEDIA.
Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation)  International unites 138 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader.

There will be four books of the Encyclopedia. The first book will cover period of time from the old times to 1973. There will be hundreds of sport biographies of the important International Persons.  One of them is Lithuanian ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (1947-1998).
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS – NEGATIVE BODYBUILDING HEROE.
As a bodybuilding organizer ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS started working in 1973. Then during the meeting in Kaunas city he organized the overthrow of the President National Bodybuilding Federation of Lithuania JUOZAS JUSEVICHUS. JUOZAS JUSEVICHUS was one of the bodybuilding pioneers in the U.S.S.R. and Lithuania.
1979. RUINED INTERNATIONAL CONTEST „U.S.S.R. – CZECHOSLOVAKIA“.
During the time of the political prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding sport in the Socialist Countries still some contests we managed to do with great efforts. In 1979 ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS ruined the International Contest „U.S.S.R. – Czechoslovakia“. This competition was prepared by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and a number of the Bodybuilding Chairmen of  Czechoslovakia – the President of the National Federation VOJTECH FIALA and his assistants FRANTISHEK BULVA and IVAN MACH. This would be the first time when the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders will cross the U.S.S.R. country boarder that was closed due to the above mentioned bodybuilding prohibition.
After the first visit of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Czechoslovakia, their bodybuilding Chairmen addressed GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин) in Moscow. GENADIJ BALDIN was one of the five Chairmen of the in 1968 established U.S.S.R. bodybuilding federation which stopped working in 1973 after bodybuildin prohibition. GENADIJ BALDIN answered the Czechslovakians that he left bodybuilding activities. He wrote that there are several still working bodybuilding organizers in Baltic countries whom they can contact easily. Only they dared to go on working during the years of prohibition of bodybuilding (letters were presented to us by another one of the five Chairmen of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding federation VALERIJ KORESHKOV (Валерий Корешков) and now they are kept in the archieves of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International).
The preparation for the contest „U.S.S.R. – Czechoslovakia“ took four years. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited Czechoslovakia in 1975 and 1977. A number of meeings with Czechoslovakia bodybuilding leaders were made. Also he met famous trainers and bodybuilders there. The intensive correspondence was done as well. The U.S.S.R. bodybuilders needed visas to reach another countries. Finally the needed official documents from Czechoslovakia reached DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with the competition „U.S.S.R. – Czechoslovakia“ and he was not included to the delegation to Czechoslovakia. That was the reason that ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS started his intrugues and ruined the visit.
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS always was in touch with many World Bodybuilding Leaders. In 1978 he visited Varzszawa „Herkules“ (Poland) bodybuilding gym. Polish organizers planned to make an International Contest in 1979.  They gave DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS official invitiation for the U.S.S.R. team to participate at the event. After the above mentioned intriques of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS  DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not visit the Polish contest himself. He gave the official invitation to Poland to Estonia Bodybuilding Chairman INNAR MARDO. INNAR MARDO took the best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder Estonian OLEV ANNUS to Poland and he became the Over All Champion there (documents about all mentioned events are kept at the archieves of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International).
1979. REMEIKA WAS FIRST BODYBUILDER PROSECUTED BY KALINAUSKAS.
In 1979 over 120 kilograms weighing successful Lithuanian bodybuilder from Klaipeda City  ALBERTAS REMEIKA was preparing to participate at the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ in Estonia. He just finished successful participations at the „Amber Prix Interbational“ and a contest in Kaunas City. Due to the fights inside National Lithuania bodybuilding federation ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS addressed the President of Estonia bodybuilding federation INNAR MARDO and forced him to prohibit participation at the „Georg Tenno Memorial“  of ALBERTAS REMEIKA. So INNAR MARDO did as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS asked.
1981. OLEV ANNUS LOST A CONTEST DUE TO POLITICAL REASONS.
In 1981 in Lithuanian Klaipeda City was held the most important U.S.S.R. bodybuilding contest of the year – the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis Prizas“, „Янтарный приз»). During this contest the General Secretary of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding federation ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS organized the defeat of OLEV ANNUS. The political powers of the U.S.S.R. knew that OLEV ANNUS was on the way to emigrante to Finland and they did not like this. How it could happen that the best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder runs away from the country? The defeat of OLEV ANNUS was organized through ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. Before the competition ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS gathered the judges and strictly informed them the „how to judge“.  OLEV ANNUS lost his win to another athlete. After the 1981  „Amber Prix International“ competition OLEV ANNUS protested and wrote letters to the bodybuilding magazines of various countries, but it changed nothing. Defeat is defeat...
INTRIQUES WITH GUSEV AND BUCHINSKAS.
Due to the fights with ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS inside Lithuania bodybuilding organization the Champion of the „Amber Prix International“ JURIJ GUSEV (Юрий Гусев) and his trainer were planing to participate in Estonia at the International „Georg Tenno Memorial“ („Мемориал Георга Тенно», „Georgo Tenno Memorialas“) on their own. Then ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS took efforts to prohibit the participation of JURIJ GUSEV. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke with the Estonia Bodybuilding Chairman INNAR MARDO (1946-2002 г., Иннар Мардо, Inaras Mardo) and received his official permition for JURIJ GUSEV to participate. After this JURIJ GUSEV participated at the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ and became the Junior Over All Champion.
Exactly the same situation happened with another Champion of the „Amber Prix International“ Lithuanian  ROLANDAS BUCHINSKAS. Again ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS prohibited him to participate in Estonia. Again DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke with  INNAR MARDO and received his permition for ROLANDAS BUCHINSKAS to participate. Again ROLANDAS BUCHISKAS became the Junior Over All Champion of the „Georg Tenno Memorial“.
1981. KALINAUSKAS SUPPORTS OVERTHROW IN ESTONIA BODYBUILDING.
Multiple intriques done by the enemies inside the National Estonia bodybuilding federation made Estonia bodybuilding leader  INNAR MARDO to leave the federation. By the way, Lithuanians were not very happy of the strong Estonia bodybuilding and helped the enemies of INNAR MARDO in their dirty works. The Lithuanians were led by ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS and some officials from Kaunas City. Especially big fight against INNAR MARDO was right after the tenth „Georg Tenno Memorial“. But after this happening no one Estonia bodybuilding organizer ever reached the highness of the work done by INNAR MARDO.
1988. INTRIQUES STOPPED PARTICIPATION AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN AUSTRALIA.
In 1988 history with the intriques of  ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was repeated. In 1987 the Official U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation was established. Due to the efforts of the famous weightlifting Olympic Champion JURIJ VLASOV (Юрий Власов) the federation was recognized by the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (Goskomsport; Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.). According to the rules all category winners of the first Official U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup were included to the National Team to participate at the 1988 World Championship in Australia. Among the champions were two Lithuanians: VIKTORAS JUCYS  (Over All Champion) and category winner  SAULIUS MISEVICHUS. As before the General Secretary of the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was not included to the delegation which participated in  Australia. For this reason ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not give the passports for VIKTORAS JUCYS  and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. Both of them worked on preperation for several months and finally at the airport did not receive passports and could not leave to the World Championship.
ON THE KNEES U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING FEDERATION GENERAL SECRETARY.
Just before the meeting of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS  and the President of the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) federation BEN WEIDER a meeting of a number of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers had happened. It was in a hotel of Leningrad (now St. Peterburg). At this meeting participated DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS, the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation General Secretary ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS, ALEKSANDRAS NOVIKOVAS, RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS (both Officials of the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation) and bodybuilding organizer and today‘s famous Lithuania photo artist ALGIMANTAS ALEKSANDRAVICIUS and the best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder at that time VIKTORAS JUCYS. Learned about the coming meeting of DSc. EDMUDAS DAUBARAS with BEN WEIDER, ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS insisted that he is intending to come with him too. Then DSc.EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS refused to take him as he did not want to have any problems from ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS with the U.S.S.R. secret services. During the meeting at the Leningrad hotel DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS listed  „bad deals“ of the ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS that he did in previous years. Main “bad deals” were as follows: in 1979 ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS ruined International contest ”U.S.S.R. versus Czechoslovakia” and  in 1988 he ruined participation of a number of the best U.S.S.R. bodybuilders at the World Championship in Australia. Also DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reminded the prohibition of JURIJ GUSEV and ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS to participate at the “Georg Tenno Memorial” competitions in Estonia and some other intrigues of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. Then in front of all participants of the meeting ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS accepted his fault and started crying and knelt on the knees begging to forget those things.

WORLD BODYBUILDING WAS LED BY WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION.
THEY WERE THE FIRST.
Under the efforts of the American „Father of Weightlifting“ BOB HOFFMAN bodybuilding was brought to the Socialist Countries by the World Weightlifting Federation (F.I.H.C.). This happened in 1959 when F.I.H.C. organized the World Weightlifting Championship in the capital of the Polish Democratic Republic Warszawa. In 1947 F.I.H.C. decided to lead the World Bodybuilding Sport and since that time organized World Weightlifting Championships together with the bodybuilding „Universe“ contest. In 1959 this happened in Poland too.
Under the pressure of the F.I.H.C. and under the tradition the U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry (Goskomsport) set the Bodybuilding Organization that was ruled by the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation. Then this organization was not successful as there were no bodybuilders in the U.S.S.R. at that time.
THEY WERE THE FIRST IN RUSSIA.
First bodybuilders in the U.S.S.R. were weightlifters: ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз), GENNADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин), the first U.S.S.R. World Weightlifting Champion GRIGORIJ NOVAK (Григорий Новак, 1946), GEROG TENNO (Георг Тенно), IGOR PETRUCHIN (Игорь Петрухин) and MARK SHAFRAN (Марк Шафран). The first Bodybuilding contest was organized in Moscow (Russia). Right after this the International Contest was organized in Vilnius (Lithuania). This was the first International Contest in the all Socialist Countries. Most of the above mentioned persons took part at the contest in Vilnius.

Weightlifting Federation then. To control the bodybuilding sport the Ministry appointed the Chairman of this organization. That was a friend of BOB HOFFMAN a known  U.S.S.R. wightlifting authority ROMAN MOROZ. The mentioned organization did not work as there were no bodybuilders in the U.S.S.R. at that time.
It was nothing special when a bodybuilding organization was established at the weightlifting federation of any country. International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C. since 1947 ruled the official World Bodybuilding. F.I.H.C. and A.A.U. were members of the International Olympic Committee. In fact using the positions in F.I.H.C. and A.A.U. the official World and U.S.A. bodybuilding sport was ruled by BOB HOFFMAN. Until 1969 no one could fight with BOB HOFFMAN when he had the I.O.C. members F.I.H.C. and A.A.U. behind.
Later in 1968 the mentioned International Bodybuilding Organization of the Socialist Countries was renewed. It happened during an International Contest in Lithuania. Among the five members of the Executive Council the Chairmen was elected the same Russian ROMAN MOROZ.

That was the World Weightlifting Championship in Warszawa - the Capital of the Polish Democratic Republic. Then F.I.H.C. organized the traditional bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ in Warszawa too.
1963. FIRST SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING ORGANIZATION.

In 1963 under the influence of BOB HOFFMAN the first International Bodybuilding Organization in the Socialist Countries (Всесоюзная комиссия по атлетической гимнастике) was established by the Ministry of Sport U.S.S.R. It was nothing special when a bodybuilding organization was established at the weightlifting federation of any country. 1966. FIRST SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL CONTEST.
First pioneers of bodybuilding in Russia were weightlifters MARK SHAFRAN (Марк Шафран), ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз), the first in the Socialist Countries World Weightlifting Champion GRIGORIJ NOVAK (Григорий Новак), Estinian GEORG TENNO  and GENNADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин). In 1966 a bodybuilding contest was organized in Moscow (Russia) where the winner was IGOR PETRUCHIN (Игорь Петрухин). Also in 1966 the first in the Socialist Countries International Bodybuilding competition was organized in Vilnius (Lithuania). The Winners were IGOR PETRUCHIN (Russia), RYTIS MACIJAUSKAS and KLEMENSAS ALSHAUSKAS (both Lithuania).
TRADITIONAL BODYBUILDING CONTESTS.
During the bodybuilding prohibition in the Socialist World (1973 – 1987) only few brave persons dared to organize competitions. There were only two regular International Bodybuilding Contests in all Socialist World: the „Amber Prix International“ (1968 – 2021, „Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз») organized in Lithuania by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and „Georg Tenno Memorial“ (1971 – 1989, «Мемориал Георга Тэнно») organizaed in Estonia by INNAR MARDO.
PROHIBITION OF BODYBUILDING.
In 1973 the prosecution and prohibition of bodybuilding started in the Socialist World. Every country went it‘s own original way. In some countries contests were still organized with huge difficulties. First of all in Czechoslovakia. The National Champion of Czechoslovakia in 1973 was LADISLAV KLERI, MILAN POLELKA was at the second place and JAN CERNY was at the third place.

WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
TWO U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
THE BEGINNING.
First pioneers of bodybuilding in Russia were weightlifters MARK SHAFRAN (Марк Шафран), ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз), the first in the Socialist Countries World Weightlifting Champion GRIGORIJ NOVAK (Григорий Новак), Estonian GEORG TENNO  and GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин).
1966. FIRST SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.
The Winners were IGOR PETRUCHIN (Russia), RYTIS MACIJAUSKAS and KLEMENSAS ALSHAUSKAS (both Lithuania); second places won Russian GENADIJ BALDIN, Lithuanians CESLAV TAMULEVICH (Чеслав Тамулевич) and ANATOLIJ PRIC (Анатолий Приц); third places went to Russian MARK SHAFRAN and Lithuanians RIMANTAS ZUJUS and ALGIMANTAS RAMANAUSKAS.
EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and „Georg Tenno Memorial“ (1971 – 1989, «Мемориал Георга Тэнно») organized in Estonia by INNAR MARDO.
TWO OFFICIAL U.S.S.R. CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Just before the prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding in the Socialist World the 1971 and 1972 U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championships  („Чемпионат С.С.С.Р.“) were held. We would like to remind that since 1947 until 1969 the World‘s Official Bodybuilding was ruled by the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C.. F.I.H.C. was a member of the International Olympic Committee. All bodybuilding contests were of two parts: the power exercises and posing. In the Socialist Countries this tradition remained during all years of the prohibition of bodybuilding. Prosecuted by Governments and press bodybuilder were hiding themselves behind the power exercises.
FIRST U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP.
The first U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship was held in 1971 in Russia Severodvinsk City. The Over All Champion was a Russian Severodvinsk Athlete ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов), representing Leningrad City VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин) was at the second place and at the third place was Russian VLADIMIR CHOMULIOV (Владимир Хомулёв).
SECOND U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP.
In 1972 the second U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship was held in Russia City Sverdlovsk. The representatives of six countries of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania participated at the event. In the short category the Winner was  VLADIMIR LIPJAINEN (Владимир Липьянен), the second place went to BORIS ZITKOV (Борис Житков), the third place went to DMITRIJ CHANEV (Дмитрий Чанев), all from Russia. The middle category Winner was Lithuanian VALDAS ALIUBAVICHUS, at the second place was SERGEJ KIZIN (Сергей Кизин), at the third place was ALEKSANDR NIKIFOROV (Александр Никифоров), both from Russia. The highest category Winner was VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин), at the second place was ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов), at the third place was VLADIMIRAS CHOMULIOVAS (Владимир Хомулёв), all from Russia.

WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS.
WORLD BODYBUILDING ENCYCLOPEDIA.
Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation)  International unites 140 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader.
Crowning it‘s 50 years of  International Bodybuilding activities, the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F.  works on the Unique Global International Bodybuilding Project -  the „World Bodybuilding  Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма», “Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija”).

DMITRIJ IVANOV
Russia weightlifter, World and Europe Champion, multiple U.S.S.R. Champion, writer and journalist DMITRIJ IVANOV (Дмитрий Иванов, 1928 – 1993) was one of the initiators of the prohibition and of the prosecution of bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R.. His negatyve articles in press about bodybuilding much caused the prohibition since 1973 until 1987. As told by one of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding pioneers GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин) the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to defend bodybuilding caused many problems to DMITRIJ IVANOV. Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS by great risk personally brought this petition to Moscow to the U.S.S.R. Communist Part Headquarters (ЦК КПСС. C.C.C.P.). The prosecution of bodybuilding in the Socialist World started right after the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C. stopped leading International bodybuilding in 1969. We would like to underline that F.I.H.C. led the official Bodybuilding sport since 1947.

FIRST „GEORG TENNO MEMORIAL“.
After the first in the Socialist World Traditional International Bodybuilding Contest – the „Amber Prix International“ (1968 – 2022, „Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз») Estonia also started a new tradition. It lasted twenty years and it was the “Georg Tenno Memorial” (1971 – 1989, “Georgo Tenno Memorialas”, “Мемориал Георга Тенно»). The organizer of the “Georg Tenno Memorial” was the first National President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Bodybuilding Federation)  Estonia INNAR MARDO. Today they call him the “Heart of Estonia Bodybuilding”. The contest was organized in 1971 in the capital of Estonia City Tallinn.
In 1971 at the first  “Georg Tenno Memorial” participated athletes of four countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia. N.A.B.B.A. IS TELLING LIES OR IT DOES NOT KNOW IT’S OWN HISTORY?
“WORLD BODYBUILDING ENCYCLOPEDIA”.
Contemporary N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) history writer SI SWEENEY in his articles even does not mention the real first “Mr. Universe” contest. Also he writes incorrect information about the second “Mr. Universe” competition.
The same do writers who write about the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) history. These they underline that there was nothing before the WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN I.F.B.B. Commercial Company. They neglect the previous BOB HOFFMAN’s “Bodybuilding Empire” which WEIDER brothers copied from beginning to the very end.
Many people want to rise themselves and they create unreal stories. Next followers use their creations and go on developing them.

1947. FIRST “MR. UNIVERSE” CONTEST.
The first real “Bodybuilding Empire” was created through the A.A.U. (Amateur Athletic Union)  in the USA by American BOBO HOFFMAN. In real A.A.U. united USA National Federations and it was the Ministry of Sport in the USA. They use to call BOBO HOFFMAN “the father of America Weightlifting”. A.A.U. since 1939 was organizing USA bodybuilding “Mr. America” contests. BOB HOFFMAN wanted to make bodybuilding an official recognized sport through A.A.U. and F.I.H. (Federation Internationale Halterophile). USA weightlifting though A.A.U. was a member of the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H. Later F.I.H. name was changed to F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturisme) when F.I.H. started ruling World’s bodybuilding sport. BOB HOFFMAN decided to do the same with bodybuilding.
In 1947 F.I.H. organized the World Weightlifting Championship and International Congress in Philadelphia (USA). Under the efforts of BOB HOFFMAN the International Congress decided to lead and control World’s bodybuilding on official level. It was immediately decided to organize the first in Sport’s History International Bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” contest alongside with the F.I.H. World Weightlifting Championship in Philadelphia. Then the Over All “Mr. Universe” Champion was a pupil of BOB HOFFMAN a famous America weightlifter STEVE STANKO. That was a Historical Happening and STEVE STANKO became a Historical Person.

They neglect the previous BOB HOFFMAN’s (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985 m.) “Bodybuilding Empire” which WEIDER brothers copied from beginning to the very end.
1948. SECOND “MR. UNIVERSE’ IN LONDON.
It was a tradition of F.I.H. not to organize World Weightlifting Championship in “Olympic” years. What to do with the second F.I.H. bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ comprtition? Then the idea to organize the F.I.H. bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” during the 1948 “Olympic Games” struck BOB HOFFMAN. There were real ways because F.I.H. was a member of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). BOB HOFFMAN addressed British OSCAR STATE who was the President of B.A.W.L.A. (British Amateur Weight Lifting Association) to assist him. At the same time B.A.W.L.A. asked the Chairmen of the British Bodybuilding “Health and Strength” Magazine to assist them too. Through F.I.H. departments in various countries B.A.W.L.A. invited athletes to the contest in London. At the same time BOB HOFFMAN brought USA bodybuilders to compete. There were 1800 spectators at the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe” in London. All money profit of the competition went to B.A.W.L.A.. After several preliminary rounds the finalists were ANDRE DRAPP (France) and Americans JOHN GRIMEK and STEVE REEVES. JOHN GRIMEK was proclaimed the Over All Winner of the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe”. STEVE REEVES spoke on microphone saying that “John Grimek is the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived“.

1950. FIRST N.A.B.B.A. “MR. UNIVERSE”.
In 1950 under the efforts of the Chairmen of “Health and Strength” Magazine N.A.B.B.A. association was created in the Great Britain. As the former N.A.B.B.A. President  IVAN DUNBAR told us – N.A.B.B.A. Association was juridically registered as a „Public Club“. In 1950 N.A.B.B.A. organized the first “Mr. Universe” in London. The Over All Champion was STEVE REEVES (USA). At the same time a member of the International Olympic Committee F.I.H.C. went on organizing it’s own “Mr. Universe” contest. Comparing with N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universe” F.I.H.C. competitions were the official ones. For the two decades no one could confront F.I.H.C. as the official Bodybuilding Sport was under F.I.H.C. control. Even the Commercial I.F.B.B. Company of the WEIDER  brothers JOE and BEN could not imagine to think being equal to F.I.H.C..

AFTER  70 YEARS WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY WAS REPEATED.
1927 BRONE DAUBARAITE AND 1997 EDITA DAUBARAITE.
International sport society knows very well about the U.S.A. sportsman BRONE DAUBARAITE (Broné “Brownie” Dubar, 1906-1986 m.). Emigrated from Lithuania before the First World War she was the World’s First Fitness Athlete. At that time there was no bodybuilding and fitness sport and BRONE DAUBARAITE did not participate at the competitions. As many athletes and strongmen of her time she travelled though the World Countries and demonstrated her unique sport programs.
„EUROSPORT“ REPORTS ABOUT OVER ALL WORLD CHAMPION.
After seventy years in 1997 Lithuanian gymnastic athlete EDITA DAUBARAITE repeated her grandmother’s BORNE DAUBARAITE achievements. She became the over all World Fitness Champion. That was the first time when a representative from the previous socialist world won such a title. The event was televised by “Eurosport” television several times. Then “Eurosport” spoke much about the EDITA’S gymnastic abilities and International press wrote much about the Lithuanian sportsman. The Ministry of Sport Republic Lithuania started steps to present EDITA DAUBARAITE a high Governmental Award. Unfortunately intrigues did not let to happen this.
Later representing Post Socialist Countries Slovak MARIETA ZIGALOVA (Marieta Žigalova) and  Polish ALEKSANDRA KOBIELAK became the Over All World Fitness Champions too. But it was later.
At this moment EDITA DAUBARAITE (Sendriene) leads the International Judges Committee of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) federation. She is the Director of the Administration of the International Sport University (I.S.U.).
