2019. WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
LEARN WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY!
During 20 years prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding in USSR “Amber Prix International” was the only one official International contest in Socialist World. Later USSR Ministry of Sport recognized “Amber Prix International” as official USSR Championship and presented “Sport Master” titles to “Amber Prix International” champions. In 2011 Vatican named us as “dissidents” and presented with the Roman Pope Medal.

In 1986 the former WABBA (World Amateur Body Building Association) President and owner SERGE NUBRET  sent to the President WFF-WBBF International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS his own archeives that were very usefull.

WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY. UNKNOWN STORIES. HOW IT WAS IN REAL.
Part 1.
BEN WEIDER.
As any history, the World Bodybuilding History was too much complicated. Somebody knows something, most do not know anything. Our 120 years lasting sport history used to be presented in many different ways.
During the last fivety years International President WFF-WBBF (World Fitness federation, World Body Building Federation) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS personally took part at many most important International historic bodybuilding events. At many of them DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was not only a participant, but even many of these events had happened under his initiative.
During all his active life in sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was always in good friendly relations with the International Bodybuilding Top Personalities: BEN WEIDER (Canada), WAYNE DE MILIA (USA), PAMELA KAGAN (Canada), PAUL CHUA (Singapore), SERGE NUBRET, AKLI CHABENI (both France), OSCAR HEIDENSTAM, IVAN DUNBAR (both UK), VOJTECH FIALA (Czechoslovakia). During a long period of time to set some definite questions the Owner and the life President of the IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER many times used to ask DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to meet his assistant RAFAEL SANTONJA. Even today EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS communicates with nearly all International bodybuilding leaders who play important role in the official World‘s sport movement.
Personal relations of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS with BEN WEIDER always had and still have big historical value. Due to these relations DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was always in the centre of important International activities. These relations with BEN WEIDER gave him opportunity to get the information that others could not get. This gave the possibility for DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to influence many important International bodybuilding events. Rich WFF-WBBF archieves prove decades lasting relations, personal meetings and correspondence with BEN WEIDER.
BEN WEIDER in his private magazines many times published materials sent by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Much attention in Weider‘s magazines had been given for even now one of the World‘s oldest still runnig International „Amber Prix International“ Contest (1968-2017, „Gintarinis prizas“, „
Янтарный приз»). For many years „Amber Prix International“ was the unofficial bodybuilding championship of the USSR (for many years bodybuilding was prohibited in the USSR, Union Soviet Socialist Republics). For most time of the history of „Amber Prix International“ DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was the main organizer of this event. And still he is (under the WFF-WBBF). Evaluating the importance of the „Amber Prix International“ a number of times BEN WEIDER sent his own signed Diplomas for the „Amber Prix International“ champions. It was BEN WEIDER to press Vice President IFBB International PAUL CHUA and President IFBB Israel ASHER FRIG to send their teams to Klaipeda (Lithuania) to participate at the „Amber Prix International“. It was BEN WERDER to give the order for his Spanish assistant RAFAEL SANTONJA to host „Amber Prix International“ Champions at the IFBB Mediteranian Contest held in Marocco (see letters of BEN WEIDER, http://www.wff.lt, read forum). Finally relations between DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and BEN WEIDER reached such a level, that BEN WEIDER asked to stop discussing and making decissions via correspondence and to start to settle all important questions at the common private meetings. During a definite period of time a number of meetings of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and BEN WEIDER were held – in Leningrad, Moscow (USSR, Russia), in Paris (France), in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia), in New York (USA). DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was always a personal guest of BEN WEIDER. BEN WEIDER had been ready to meet DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS at any possible time even postponing his other works and duties (see letters of BEN WEIDER). The top culmination of the common relations was when both decided to set a Joint-Venture Company (protocol of intentions, November 25, 1990, Helmsley Palace, New Yourk, USA, archieves WFF-WBBF International).
No matter that later on DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS went his own way and started the WFF-WBBF International, no matter he stopped his official contacts with the IFBB, he has always been in friendly relations with BEN WEIDER. Even when DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was already leading WFF-WBBF International but keeping old common contacts BEN WEIDER used to send him the official IFBB magazines and materials (until BEN WEIDER stepped away and sold his private IFBB magazines in 2000).

Part 2.
PROHIBITED SPORT.
For quite a long period of time bodybuilding was prohibited in the USSR and in almost all Socialist Countries. For political reasons being as the „Western sport“ bodybuilding  has never been supported in all socialist World. Everywhere gyms were closed, contests prohibited, sportsmen and organizers were prosecuted, media flew as maximum dirt as possible to bodybuilding. Under pressure of the Communist Party the Ministry of Sport of the USSR (Union Soviet Socialist Republics) issued a strict order against bodybuilding and this way they had a juridical law basis to follow bodybuilders. For many years of the prosecution of bodybuilding sport in the Sport Ministry (Goskomsport) was employed a former weightlifter E.MOROZ (later V.TAMARLAKOV). Both of them were responsible for controlling the bodybuilding in the USSR. A step below of them was another one representative  - the Lithuanian ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. Everybody was afrayed to fight or even to say a single word to stand for bodybuilding. As in such a wide territory nobody organized bodybuilding contetsts, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS dared to do it first with „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuania). ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS and other high officials wanted to stop DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS saying that in case the new procecutions started they are not going to loose their Communist Party certificates and they will stay away from DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Nevertheless DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not listen to them and did it on his own risk. The contest in Klaipeda took place, only the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS played his game with the Sport Ministry and he had to make some artificial changes adding power exercises to the usual programme. Just after this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started active correspondence with the Sport Ministry of the USSR as well as with the main USSR political media: newspapers „Pravda“, „Izvestija“, „Soviet Sport“, which used to publishe awfull articles against bodybuilding (like „Trijanskij kon kulturizma“..). Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a number of articles protecting bodybuilding and started to collect signatures of known people to support  these articles. It became a real pettition to unite people to protect bodybuilding sport (these historic materials are in the archieves of the WFF-WBBF International (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation). Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS on his risk went to Moscow to register and present these materials at the Headquarters of the Central Committe of the Communst Party of the USSR and the Ministry Council of the USSR. When back to Lithuania from Moscow DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started to receive lots of calls from the Headquarters of the Central Committe of the Communst Party USSR. The discussion started. It was evident that some positive agreement may happen. That bothered Lithuanian Communist Leaders. Finally the telepfone of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was totally swiched off line and they invited DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Klaipeda Headquarters asking to stop pushing the highest USSR officials. At the same time, though bodybuilding was a prohibited sport, they gave DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS permittion to organize anual „Amber Prix International“ (1968-2017, „Gintarinis prizas“,
«Янтарный приз») in Klaipeda. It is not a secret that for many years „Amber Prix International“ was the only one International bodybuilding contest in the Socialist World and until 1988 it was recognized and proclaimed  as a not official Championship of the USSR. If not the „Amber Prix International“ nuobody knows what would have been the history of bodybuilding in the USSR and all Socialist World. Nobody knows how the Socialist bodybuilding sport would have met the first USA bodybuilders that came to the USSR under the leadership of the Owner and life President IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER. BEN WEIDER was an old personal friend of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. For many years they bogth had active correspondence, a number of mutual meetings in various countries. Finally they were working on setting a Join-Venture Company (again these documents are in the archieves of the WFF-WBBF International (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation. See documents and letters of BEN WEIDER, http://www.wff.lt, read forum).

Part 3.
COMMUNIST PARTY PROCLAMES THE CHAMPION

In 2017 the WFF-WBBF (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) held the 50-th „Amber Prix International“ (1968 – 2017, „Gintarinis prizas“, „
Янтарный приз») Contest in Klaipeda (Republic Lithuania). Then the  Global CNN television made a report about the WFF-WBBF International activities that have seen one billion (one milliard) people World Wide.
Bodybuilding specialists and fans know very much about this World’s  Oldest Historic Bodybuilding Competition. We were informing before, that for many years when Bodybuilding Sport was prohibited and prosecuted in the Socialist Countries (especially in the USSR),  the “Amber Prix International” used to be the World Championship of the Socialist Countries, the unofficial Championship of the USSR. And later on this was recognized by the Sport Ministry (Goskomsport) of the USSR. Having in mind the high level of the “Amber Prix International”  and it’s political value to the International Sport, various special services and secret structures use „to keep an eye“ and to follow the competition. The importance of the “Amber Prix International” proves the fact, that right after the “Perestrojka”  began, the Ministry of Sport of the USSR  started to give highest governmental honorable “Soviet Sport Master” (мастер спорта СССР) degrees and other privileges for the Champions of the “Amber Prix International”.
The 1981 “Amber Prix International” competition was exceptional in the Socialist State Politics. Then a Russian weightlifter E.MOROZ was responsible for the Bodybuilding Sport  (атлетическая гимнастика) in the Ministry Sport USSR
(Госкомспорт СССР). But the real working President Russia Bodybuilding organization was  a Russia painting artist  VLADIMIR SUBOV in fact. After the Russian Bodybuilder and the contemporary Russia National IFBB President VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин)  lost his titles against Estonian OLEV ANNUS and against Lithuanian PRANAS MURAUSKAS in 1974, VLADIMIR DUBININ  was out of the our sport game for long thirteen  years. After constant insistance of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and his personal invitation VLADIMIR DUBININ appeared in sport society again at the “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda only in 1986.
In 1981 just before the “Amber Prix International” the meeting of the USSR International  Judges Council was held in Klaipeda. At this meeting participated DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS („Amber Prix International“ organizer), VLADIMIR SUBOV (representing Russia), ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (representing  USSR bodybuilding comission), ARKADIJ KASANSKIJ (representing Ukraine), INNAR MARDO (representing Estonia), ALEKSANDRAS NOVIKOVAS (representing Lithuania) and some other International level judges and organizers. The secretary of the USSR Bodybuilding Comission ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS told the judges that it is high time to change the USSR leading bodybuilder and to stop the successful career of Estonian athlete OLEV ANNUS. Many bodybuilders admired OLEV ANNUS  and that was against USSR politics. At that time already twice winning the “Amber Prix International” (1978, 1979) and a number of International events in Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia OLEV ANNUS was the sole leader among bodybuilders of the Socialist Countries. Under the pressure of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS the judges of the “Amber Prix International” did as he told them: OLEV ANNUS  was not the winner. Due to this the Over All Winner’s Title at the 1981 “Amber Prix International” went to the Lithuanian Sportsman SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. OLEV ANNUS was in shock loosing the battle to the lower level athlete. He has written letters accusing the International Judges but the result was impossible to change.
In 2010 at the WFF-WBBF Amateur  and Pro World Championship in Slovakia Brusno Kupele resort VLADIMIR SUBOV came there with the National Team Germany. Having possibilities to speak free now he explained the political situation of the 1981. VLADIMIR SUBOV  told the organizers that the sport life of OLEV ANNUS was decided in Moscow long before he participated in Klaipeda at the 1981 “Amber Prix International”. Then the USSR Communist Party Central Committee ruled everything, sport too. Having information that OLEV ANNUS wants to leave the Soviet Union the USSR Communist Party Propaganda Council gave orders to the Sport Ministry of the USSR and E.MOROZ gave the same orders to ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS – get down the Estonian bodybuilder OLEV ANNUS. So using the Judges ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS  did at the 1981 “Amber Prix International”.

Part 4.
SOCIALIST COUNTRIES BODYBUILDING LITERATURE.
Before the prohibition of bodybuilding in the middle of the sixties of the last century in all Socialist World Countries  the only one regular magazine about bodybuilding sport was Polish „Sport Dla Wszystkich“. At that time Lithuanians presented the basics of bodybuilding in the magazine „The Student“(„Moksleivis“).
Through the time of the prohibition of bodybuilding sport in the Socialist Countries nobody even dreamed about the bodybuilding literature. The exception was in Czechoslovakia Bratislava issued  „Trener“ Magazine and the German DDR (Deutsches Demokratik Republik)  Weight Lifting Magazine „The Weightlifter‘s Training“ ( „Schwer Atlet Training“) which started to publish some information about our sport. During this time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS  used to give articles and contest information for these Magazines. Also for BEN WEIDER‘S „Flex“ magazine. All magazines used to publishe the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS given materials. First of all it was information from the World‘s Oldest Traditional Bodybuilding Contest, the only one anual International Bodybuilding Event in all Socialist Counties, the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз», 1968-2017). The above mentioned Czechoslovakia „Trener“ Magazines were published by JOZEF MAZAK and later by MILAN PERDOCH.
International WFF-WBBF worked and still works on the documents and various materials of World‘s Bodybuilding History. The WFF-WBBF „Sport of Fitness and Bodybuilding“ Magazine started in English, Russian and Lithuanian languages in 1989. During this period of time the WFF-WBBF printed and spread through the World several millions copies of the Magazine. „Sport of Fitness and Bodybuilding“ is awailable at the National WFF-WBBF federations in all 129 Country - members of the WFF-WBBF International as well as at the most important World‘s International Bodybuilding and Fitness Events.
Main articles of the „Sport of Fitness and Bodybuilding“ Magazine were published in various Internet Pages, sport and public media, among them regularly in Spanish „Fitness Alive“ (Argentina, Magazine for South America and Spain), in German „Fitness News“ (Austria, Magazine for Germany, Austria and Switzerland), in English „Strenght and Health“ (UK, Magazine for England, Scotland and Ireland), in Russian „Zeleznyj Mir“ (Russia, for Russia and Post Soviet Russian Speaking Countries and etc..).
At the beginning a number of the WFF-WBBF Magazines were of methodical character. These Magazines were teaching the bodybuilders how to train from the primityve beginning to the Top Professional Level. Through decades the President WFF-WBBF International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS collected and translated materials and documents from different possible sources, analised, evaluated and systemized them and finally presented as methodical recommendations for the sportsmen. That were a number of popular International Seria Magazines under the titles like “ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER recommends”, “Training Programs of the World’s Best Bodybuilders”, “Bodybuilding Stars Recommend” etc..). Ending the 90-ties of the last century basing on these Magazines a number of new generations of bodybuilders were born and educated. Wishing to have these Magazines in their collections the libraries of a number of Countries addressed the International WFF-WBBF Headquarters (like German State Library of Leipzig, Germany).
Today the WFF-WBBF „Sport of Fitness and Bodybuilding“ („Sportinis fitnesas ir kultūrizmas“, „
Спортивный фитнес и культуризм») magazine has only informative International character but this makes it to be even more important. The Magazine covers most important World‘s Bodybuilding and Fitness Events and it gives true situation of sport on Official International Level, sets the goals of the sport for the future. Nobody else in the World does it, but the WFF-WBBF.

At the Soviet times the Universities of different countries used to change students in between. While studying the Law and Philology at the Vilnius State University contemporary International President WFF-WBBF DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS  was included into such studnet‘s groups and  two times visited Czechoslovakia (1974 and 1976). Serious sport contacts with Czechoslovakia bodybuilding leaders started at once. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS had constant meetings and correspondence with the President IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders) Czechoslovakia VOJTECH FIALA. VOJTECH FIALA was a talanted smart and active Bodybuilding Official.  It was most result of VOJTECH FIALA personal work and his presonal International contacts that in 1974 Czechoslovakia broke the „Iron Wall“ of communists and started participating at the World and Continental Championships in the Western World. It was PETR STACH who won the European Championship first time in bodybuilding history representing all Socialist Countries in 1975. PETR STACH performed a complicated multy - pose posing routine accompanied by the music. He gave the  Western Bodybuilders the posing lessons and after his successfull participation new posing ideas started in the bodybuilding World. Before this at the Official Contests the Bodybuilders used to pose on a small podium. It was like this: a bodybuilder went on 1 x 1 meter podium, hit 1 - 2 poses, then thought for some time and hit 1 - 2 more poses again and that was all. What is interesting that during this „hard“ posing program bodybuilders somehow managed to forget and skip 1 or 2 poses... That was a popular topic of discussion after the routine.
Regular participation of Czechoslovakia Bodybuilders in the West quickly rised them on the Top in the Socialist Bodybuilding. Sportsmen of multiple Socialist Countries had no such chances and really envied the Czechoslovaks. On the hard political situation like this being the biggest regular International Event in the Socialist World the „Amber Prix International“ was of unbelievably great importance at that times.
Visiting Czechoslovakia DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met a number of personal friends among the Sport Leaders and Bodybuilders: PETR STACH, PETR TLAPAK, ROBERT DANTLINGER, ALOIS PEK and many others. Good relations of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were set with JOZEF MAZAK (later with MILAN PERDOCH). Both of them were directors of the in Bratislava (Czechoslovakia) published Magazine „Trener“. In those years „Trener“ Magazine used to publish bodybuilding materials constantly and it was the only sourse of regular information about our sport in the Socialist World. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a number of articles for „Trener“ Magazine too. Among them about the „Amber Prix International“
 („Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз», 1968-2017).
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was in constant contact with Bodybuilding Leaders of Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, China. Two times after the invitation of the Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding Official Professor FRANTISEK BULVA DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was present as a VIP quest at the meetings of the National Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding Federation Executive Council (1976, Brno). DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS  was in intensive correspondence with the Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding Officials and Athletes (lots of documents are in the historic archives of the WFF-WBBF International).
Under the personal initiative of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the  unique International Contest between the National Teams of Lithuania and Czechoslovakia were thoroughly planned and worked out. After a long work finally DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received from Sport Ministerium invitations for the Lithuania Bodybuilding Team to participate in Czechoslovakia. It was the unbelievable result in Socialist times. The successfull visa work started and ... it ended with the same result as it ends very often. Due to the inner misunderstandings, envy, jealousy, blackmailing letters of the Bodybuilding Officials to the Governmental Security Institutions of the USSR (KGB), the Contest in Czechoslovakia was canceled. These „famous“ historic documents, invitations still remain not used in the WFF-WBBF International archives. Angry with the USSR Bodybuilding Officials who did this, DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS gave his personal Intenational Contacts to his good Estonian friend and Bodybuilding Leader INNAR MARDO. Later INNAR MARDO used these contacts. INNAR MARDO due to his good personal contacts in Estonia Government, a number of times participated at International Contests in Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia with the National Teams Estonia (1979 - 1981). It was INNAR MARDO who using the contacts given him by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS brought the Over All „Amber Prix International“ Winner OLEV ANNUS and the „Amber Prix International“ Champion INDREK OTSUS (Estonia) abroad to win all the competitions they participated. Both of them won against the already famous Czechoslovakia bodybuilding stars. And again nothing new: when all goes well with INNAR MARDO, the envy, jealousy and dirty blackmailing starts in Estonia too. That made INNAR MARDO to leave his Bodybuilding activities for a number of years, OLEV ANNUS emigrated to Finland and became a famous Bodybuilder of IFBB and NABBA (National Amateur Body Building Association). For participating at NABBA Events OLEV ANNUS twice was sanctioned and disqualified by the IFBB for „life“, but he always managed to come back and to participate again and again.

Part 6.
THE RIGHT TO HAVE YOUR OWN OPPINION.

There are different point of views, there are different oppinions. But on what basis they are built? Often people discuss the history of bodybuilding never themselves being involved in any historic process. Often they only have heard something...
International President WFF-WBBF (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS personally took part in many important International Sport Events and still is. Many superior International Bosybuilding Events had happened not only with the participation of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS, but often he himself was the initiator of those Historic Bodybuilding Events and Happenings.
For many decades among all USSR Bodybuilding Leaders DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was the only one to know several foreign languages. That gave the opportunity for DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to communicate direct with all International Bodybuilding Leaders through the World. Let us remember the famous International Press Conference when the IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders) Owner and President BEN WEIDER came on official visit to the USSR first time. Then in front of public and journalists this long lasting Press Conference turned into a two hours lasting dialogue between BEN WEIDER and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS.
Today the President WFF-WBBF International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS is in contact with nearly all known International Bodybuilding Leaders of the World. This prove thousands of documents saved in the historic archives of the WFF-WBBF International. The WFF-WBBF today is involved in important International Bodybuilding activities to change the basic position of our sport, to get the official recognition for Bodybuilding. That is why there is no enough time to be spent working on the documents of the History of World Bodybuilding.
Having another University Low Degree DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS studied the Juridical Background of every so called „International Bodybuilding Federation“. The statements about the WFF-WBBF being the World‘s nearly Sole International No Profit Bodybuilding Federation are proved by juridical documents. Not everybody like this. But do not talk, do not blackmail us – just go and register Your own International Federation according the International Law requirements, work for the bodybuilding sport at least fivety years as we did, have definite results of Your own work and then we will agree that all is ok with Your federation. But we do not think the real „owner“ of Your International Federation, who owns it as his private property, will let You see in public the real documents if there are such documents at all. In most cases – no.
For example, all of us know, that NABBA (National Amateur Body Building Association) is registered as a UK public club, not as an International Sport Federation. It looks unserious.
It looks unserious when WABBA (World Amateur Body Building Association) International for many yeras had only it‘s name and logo registered. Nothing more.
On the official level we may call this „international bodybuilding humour“. Every ministry of sport of any country and every serious Governmental Sport Official will have nothing to do with such „International Federations“. And it is so until they do not cheat the Governmental Structures telling and presenting them false information about their federations.
Having new ideas and based on the correct juridical registration International WFF-WBBF works for the official recognition of our sport. For the last two decades other federations use to copy the ideas of WFF-WBBF: model fitness, bikiny categories, classic bodybuilding and fitness, „fit-kids“, disabled bodybuilding etc.. We have nothing against – take and use them. But again it proves the WFF-WBBF is on the right way.

WORLD‘S BODYBUILDING HISTORY. REMEMBER IT.
The authors of this historical article do not seek to present the chronological events. Our aim is to underline the most important historical International bodybuilding moments. The chronological history of our sport was presented in various languaages earlier in the 28-th issue of the International magazine „Sport of fitness and bodybuilding“ (2008) and at the International Site www.wff.lt . In 1986 the former WABBA (World Amateur Body Building Association) President and owner SERGE NUBRET  sent to the President WFF-WBBF International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS his own archeives that were very usefull.

Part 7.
FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING WAS DECIDED AT THE BALCONY.
Again we speak about the oldest traditional International historic bodybuilding contest the “Amber Prix International” („Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз», 1968-2018). In  1986 the contest was held in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Nothing to do – „Amber Prix International“ became the real history of World‘s bodybuilding.
In the beginning of seventies of the last century there was a great Russia super heavyweight bodybuilder VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин).  We remember VLADIMIR DUBININ was exactly the same level and same size at the best years of the legendary ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. Due to the communist “Iron Wall” his fortune was not successful and this was the reasin that  VLADIMIR DUBININ could not confront the best Western Bodybuilders. Now VLADIMIR DUBININ is the President of the National IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders) Federation of Russia.
In 1986 after 12 years of being fare away from bodybuilding a famous athlete VLADIMIR DUBININ  was invited by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to the „Amber Prix International“ contest. As for many years the Russia national teams were led by a Russia artist and bodybuilding organizer VLADIMIR SHUBOV (Владимир Шубов), VLADIMIR DUBININ came to 1986 „Amber Prix International“ leading the Leningrad bodybuilders. This was how VLADIMIR DUBININ appeared on bodybuilding stage again. The former great Russian bodybuilder was making his first steps as organizer and official.
The 1986 “Amber Prix International” was famous of the wins of the best socialist World bodybuilders of the time: VIKTORAS JUCYS and OLEGAS ZURAS (both from Lithuania). These two Soviet bodybuilding monsters started their way of glory at „Amber Prix International“ competitions. In 1988 VIKTORAS JUCYS ended as the first official Over All USSR Champion and OLEGAS ZURAS as the 2004 Over All heavyweight IFBB World Amateur Champion.
After the 1986 “Amber Prix International” contest was over, the VIP Socialist bodybuilding officials gathered at the apartments of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to decide the future development of bodybuilding. That were DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS, VLADIMIR DUBININ, VLADIMIR SUBOV, GEORGIJ MOSALIOV (all Russia), ARKADIJ KASANSKIJ (Аркадий Кашанский, Ukraine). At this meeting from all VIP International bodybuilding personalities was missing the only one and that was INNAR MARDO (Innar Mardo was later the first President WFF-WBBF (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) Estonia, the organizer of 2001 WFF-WBBF Europe Championship in Tallinn, Estonia). Then in 1986 in Klaipeda the strategic questions of future bodybuilding were discussed, great sport transformations, nearest International bodybuilding events, foundation and registration of the official recognized USSR Bodybuilding Federation, official recognition of bodybuilding sport in the USSR as well as the common sport contacts with the Western World were spoken over.
Basing on these decisions VLADIMIR DUBININ right after the 1986 “Amber Prix International” organized two “Belyje Nocy” (“White Nights”) International contests in Leningrad (1986, 1987, St. Petersburg, Russia). In 1988 VLADIMIR DUBININ organized the first USSR Bodybuilding Championship, again in Leningrad. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS has always been among the organizers of these mentioned important events too. This was the moment of honor and glory of the best USSR Bodybuilder of the time – the Lithuanian VIKTORAS JUCYS, who was the Over All Winner of both two “Belyje Nocy” Contests and the over all Champion of the first official USSR championship (1988). Soon the first USA Bodybuilders and Officials came to the USSR, the National USSR Bodybuilding Federation was registered after the wide meeting of bodybuilding organizers in Kubenka (Moscow) and bodybuilding was recognized as sport in the USSR. All this happened in front of inner fighting, intrigues and blackmailing among the all people involved in the process. Then the famous Russia weightlifter and Olympic Champion JURY VLASOV was elected to the USSR Bodybuilding Federation President’s position. But we will speak of those historic moments some time later.

Part 8.
VATICAN NAMES BODYBUILDING DISIDENTS.
In 2011 the Official Meeting of the WFF-WBBF (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) Interantional Leaders was organized in Vatican to present the WFF-WBBF activities.
Listening about the bodybuilding activities during the years of prohibition of this sport in the Socialist Countries Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO was interested very much. The Congregat evaluated our efforts and named us „disidents of the Communist regime“.
Most impressive was the Vatican State evaluation of the positive work of the WFF-WBBF in developing total fitness and bodybuilding throughout the World. For this work done the Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Vatican Pontific Medals (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to the International President WFF-WBBF DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and the WFF-WBBF VIP Official Slovak STEFAN HRCKA (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011).
During the Official Visit to vatican the Vatican State Administrator PADRE PAOLO presented the the WFF-WBBF Officials the Vatican Administration Headquarters, the Closed Historic Treasure Archieves and the Storage Place of the historically valuable personal items of all Pontifics of Vatican State. Early morning at St. Peter‘s Basilica the President WFF-WBBF DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS participated at the unique personal Mess.
RESPECTFUL BLESSING FROM VATICAN.
in 2012 the WFF-WBBF International Headquarters received a letter from the State Vatican.
Sending this Honourable Blessing Letter the Pontific BENEDETTO XVI-th once again positively evaluated the efforts of the WFF-WBBF International.

GOOD WORK NOTICED BY PROVOSLAV ORTODOX CHURCH.
The good and positive work done by the WFF-WBBF International was noticed by the Pravoslav Ortodox Church too.
In 2010 the IV-th International Convent of the Order of Temple (Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Herosolymitani) was held in Coimbra (Portugal).
In recognition of the new ideas to unite all Christian Confessions Bishop ARCHIMANDRITE CHARALAMPY awarded DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS with the St. Nicholas the Wonderworker’s Silver-Gold Medal.

WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
PERIODS OF BODYBUILDING DEVELOPMENT IN SOCIALIST COUNTRIES
BODYBUILDING IN SOCIALIST WORLD. HISTORIC BOOK.
In the last period of tome International sport society started to be interested in the history of our sport. Some time ago the World learned about the first fitness athlete from the USA BRONE DUBAR (New York, 1927). The World learned about the various International Sport Organizations. Today a number of historical books and articles are published. Many of them are presenting not full and often incorrect information. For example, several years ago in Lithuania was issued a book “Lithuanian bodybuilding history” which carries facts that are not correct. Some time ago in Russia was issued a book about a famous Russia bodybuilder VLADIMIR DUBININ. For thirty  years VLADIMIR DUBININ  was the President of the National IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders)  Federation of  Russia. There are many not correct facts and interpretations on the history of the USSR bodybuilding in the book.
Until now nobody did a thorough analysis of our sport history and nobody ever underlined important facts for all World bodybuilding history.
In 2020 working more than fifty years the WFF-WBBF International (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation)  is planning to publish in various languages a historical book on the Bodybuilding in Socialist Countries. Remember – the Socialist World united half of the World Countries. It was living a separate individual life that was much different from the “Western” World. This book will be a part of our unique International project – the “World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia”.
PREPARED IN LITHUANIA, PRINTED IN INDIA.
The historical book on the Bodybuilding in Socialist Countries will be prepared in Lithuania and printed in India. At this work the I.S.U. International Sports University (www.isuniversity.lt ) is involved very much now. Since 2017 I.S.U. is associated member of the UNESCO at the United Nations (UN). Professors VASILIJ BESPALENKO (Ukraine), LALIT KUMAR SONI (India) and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and World Bodybuilding Pioneer VALERIJ KORESKOV (Lithuania) are working in the project very much.
PERIODS OF BODYBUILDING DEVELOPMENT IN SOCIALIST COUNTRIES
Basing on the political situation the development of bodybuilding in the socialist countries can be divided in the folowing periods:
-          The First Period, 1958-1970
-          The Second Period, 1971-1975
-          The Third Period, 1976-1981
-          The Fourth Period, 1982-1986
-          The Fifth Period, 1987-1991
THE FIRST PERIOD
Bodybuilding in the socialist countries started at the second part of fifties of the last century. It appeared suddenly and at once became very popular. At that time a man went to cosmoss, a man went deep into the oceans. It seemed that there are no any obstacles at all. Many of people wanted to develop and change their bodies.
There was no any leadership in the socialist bodybuilding at that time.  It was the time of great popularization of bodybuilding. One of the bodybuilding pioneers in the USSR VALERIJ KORESKOV (Vilnius, Lithuania) underlines that he  started bodybuilding training in 1958. The training process was primityve, athletes needed knowlidge. From time to time contests were organized. Every time the judging criteria was different. First information about bodybuilding, famous athletes and some methods of training reached the USSR through bodybuilding magazines „Health and Strength“ and „Iron Man“ (both UK), through „Muscle Builder“(USA) and through “Sport dla Wszystkich“ (Poland).
It were Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary to start bodybuilding in the socialist countries. Bodybuilders of these countries organized local competitons and sometimes competed in between. New famous names appeared such as 1967 Czechoslovakia Champion  JURAJ VYSNY.
First to visit the mentioned countries from the USSR were the Lithuanians. In 1968 Lithuania Kaunas „Azuolas Gym“ bodybuilders  went to Warszawa to compete with „Herkules Gym“ athletes. Lithuanians were led by VYTAUTAS ZUMERIS and Polich team by EUGENIUSZ PAWLOK.
Also in 1968 the first in the USSR International Contest was organized. It was held in Lithuania Kaunas City and national teams of Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia participated there. The competiton lasted two days and six thousand spectators filled the biggest hall of the city. Then the over all Champion was LEONAS PIVORIUNAS (Vilnius, Lithuania).
After that the first „Amber Prix International“ (1968, „Gintarinis prizas“,  «Янтарный приз») contest was held in Lithuanian Klaipeda. Again the over all Champion was LEONAS PIVORIUNAS.
Every day bodybuilding became more stronger and more popular. More competitoons were organized and new names came in public. It needed to have definite leadership to give some order for the movement.  During the 1968 contest in Kaunas the „USSR Social Bodybuilding Committee“ («Общественный комитет по атлетической гимнастике СССР») was established. The positions of it‘s members were the folowing:
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
1.     ROMAN MOROZ, Moscow, Russia
2.     VLADIMIR PETROV, Moscow, Russia
3.     GENADIJ BALDIN, Moscow, Russia
4.     VYTAUTAS ZUMERIS, Vilnius, Lithuania
5.     VALERIJ KOREŠKOV, Vilnius, Lithuania.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Along with the Executive Council a number of Committee Members were ellected:
6.     FIODOR MANKO, Leningrad, Russia
7.     ELEONORA VOLOKONCEVA, Leningrad, Russia
8.     VALERIJ SEMIONOV, Tiumen, Russia
9.     VLADIMIR DURNENKO, Omsk, Russia
10.EMANUILAS BEZMOZGIS, Riga, Latvia
11.ERVIN LIBERT, Tallin, Estonia.
Then it was a calm and productive period of the USSR bodybuilding. It came as a tradition and in 1969-1970 the „Amber Prix International“ contests were organized in Klaipeda.  Suddenly due to political reasons in 1971 the bodybuilding activities in the USSR and other socialist countries were stopped. For many years the Communist regime prohibited and prosecuted the bodybuilding.
