What was going on in the U.S.S.R. at the background of the 1979 „Amber Prix International“?
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS always was seeking career. In sport too. There is nothing bad about this, but he did it in awful ways. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was cheating his friends in sport, he did false votings and he blackmailed his friends against the political powers of the U.S.S.R.. Also he did bad things for those whom he did not like in bodybuilding.
Since 1973 bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Fighting against this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received a a letter with negatyve answer from the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport. Having no support of bodybuilding friends through his petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reached the Victory. It was unexpected for everybody. It was unexpected for DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS too.
Many those who were afraid to fight against bodybuilding prohibition became active when DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS on his own risk organized successful 1978 “Amber Prix International”. After 1973 it was the first official bodybuilding contest that was done in public in the U.S.S.R.. Petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was presented in Moscow for the highest U.S.S.R. political powers and it opened doors for bodybuilding contests. Since 1978 “Amber Prix International” was the regular unofficial “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship” („неофициальныйЧемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»).
Before the voyage of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was against his petition. He was afraid. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS explained, that “all DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS does is on his own risk. This way he will not risk his membership in the Communist Party. If something negative about the reaction of political powers happens ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS will say he did not know anything about the petition”.
After the successful 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS remembered about the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” (“Atletinės gimnastikos komisija”, «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). This federation at the F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste)times was based as a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.»). When bodybuilding was prohibited in 1973 the “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” stopped it’s work and all five it’s Chairmen left bodybuilding. Basing on the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received political permit to organize “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted the refresh the forgotten “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It was absurd. The bodybuilding sport was prohibited and someone at the same time wants to set the International Bodybuilding Federation in the U.S.S.R..
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was alone when everybody refused to support him in writing the petition to defend bodybuilding and to bring it to Moscow. But the achieved victory of the petition opened doors for everybody to develop bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R..
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. ON TOP AT ANY COST.
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted to rule the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding. After the success of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS he addressed the former Chairman of the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” and a known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). ROMAN MOROZ was working at the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” at that time. Telling him about the 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS suggested to refresh the old “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It seemed unreal as on December, 1977 the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport issued a new order to make the prosecution of bodybuilding more strict. Anyway the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport through ROMAN MOROZ wanted to control the illegal bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and he agreed. Both decided that the Chairman of the federation representing Moscow political power will be ROMAN MOROZ and the secretary will be ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In order not to be alone they included several statistic persons too. Though ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS already started prosecuting INNAR MARDO he was also included to the member’s list. Formally this organization was a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation”. As weightlifters were not interested in bodybuilding in fact ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was ruling the federation alone.
Wishing to be “A hero” in front of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS invited several medium level U.S.S.R. weightlifting officials to the 1979 “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda. It was a humor as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with “Amber Prix International” ever. Having guests of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” the 1979 “Amber Prix” was of two parts – power exercises and evaluation of the body. Everything according the old F.I.H.C. traditions. Without power exercises weightlifting guests of Moscow had nothing common with bodybuilding.
From Moscow to Klaipeda arrived the medium level official of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” JURIJ SANDALOV (ЮрийСандалов) and the Chairman of the 1963, 1968 and now of the 1979 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). We want to underline that since 1978 the “Amber Prix International” was the “unofficial U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship”. So the level was very high.
Wishing to please the guests of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS collected money from bodybuilders and bought for them Lithuanian televisions “Shilelis” («Шилялис»). It was difficult to get these televisions in the U.S.S.R. at those times. It is hard to say what was in mind of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. From Moscow to Klaipeda came only representatives of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” and they were not top officers. Bodybuilding was still prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Even the Ministry of Sport could do nothing as the decision to prohibit bodybuilding came from the highest political powers of the U.S.S.R.. But ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was satisfied by the position of the secretary of the formal federation. This was enough for him then. The federation went on doing nothing real. By the way later ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS went on presenting televisions to Moscow weightlifting officials again and again.

At the 1979 „Amber Prix International“ participated athletes from Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR.

1980. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“. WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN SOCIALIST WORLD? In 1980 bodybuilding still was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries. When in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote the petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding, he personally brought it to Moscow and presented to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers. The achieved victory let start public competitions in Klaipeda (Lithusnian SSR). Until this contests were illegal and without public. The first official bosybuilding contest was the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарныйприз», 1968 – 2023) which was organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Since 1978 the „Amber Prix International“ got the status of the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («НеофициальныйчемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»). In 1980 three International bodybuilding contests were organized in the U.S.S.R. and all of the were held in the Lithuanian SSR. One of them was the „Amber Prix International“ which was held in the Palace of Culture of the City Klaipeda. The organizers did not expect so big crowd of spectators. So the doors of the palace were broken by entering crowd at the very beginning. The second contest was held in Kaunas and that was the „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė“, «Кубоккомсомола»). The Category Winners were STANISLAV POLIAKOV (Станислав Поляков, Latvian SSR) and Lithuanians VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS ir EUGENE ZURCEV (Евгений Журцев). The Over All Winner was VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS. One more contest was organized in Vilnius. That was the competition „Lithuanian SSR versus Hungarian SSR“. Hungarians did not come with strong bodybuildiers and all first places went to the Lithuanians: EUGENE GORELIK (ЕвгенийГорелик), VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS and EUGENE ZURCEV. In 1980 the traditional „Georg Tenno Momorial“ («МемориалГеоргаТенно», 1971 - 1989) was not organized in the Estonian SSR. When in 1979 INNAR MARDO (ИннарМардо, 1946 – 2002) and best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder of that time Estonian OLEV ANNUS returned from competition in Czechoslovakian SSR they guarreled in between. Letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS say that OLEV ANNUS wrote bad letters about INNAR MARDO to political powers of the Estonian SSR. Due to this INNAR MARDO lost his gym and his position of the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. Also the Communist powers of the Estonian SSR prohibited 1980 „Georg Tenno Memorial“. The leadership of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR took OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO. INNAR AMARDO as well as DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not stop bodybuilding activities due to the conflicts. Both went on working on their own. In 1980 separatly from the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO and INDREK OTSUS went to „Trener“ contest in the Czechoslovakian SSR. INDREK OTSUS won against the 1975 Over All I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) Europe Champion PETER STACH again and reveived the title of the Over All Winner. Since 1973 bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Fighting against this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received a a letter with negatyve answer from the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport. Having no support of bodybuilding friends through his petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reached the Victory. It was unexpected for everybody. It was unexpected for DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS too.
Many those who were afraid to fight against bodybuilding prohibition became active when DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS on his own risk organized successful 1978 “Amber Prix International”. After 1973 it was the first official bodybuilding contest that was done in public in the U.S.S.R.. Petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was presented in Moscow for the highest U.S.S.R. political powers and it opened doors for bodybuilding contests. Since 1978 “Amber Prix International” was the regular unofficial “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship” („неофициальныйЧемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»).
Before the voyage of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was against his petition. He was afraid. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS explained, that “all DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS does is on his own risk. This way he will not risk his membership in the Communist Party. If something negative about the reaction of political powers happens ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS will say he did not know anything about the petition”.
After the successful 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS remembered about the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” (“Atletinės gimnastikos komisija”, «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). This federation at the F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste)times was based as a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.»). When bodybuilding was prohibited in 1973 the “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” stopped it’s work and all five it’s Chairmen left bodybuilding. Basing on the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received political permit to organize “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted the refresh the forgotten “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It was absurd. The bodybuilding sport was prohibited and someone at the same time wants to set the International Bodybuilding Federation in the U.S.S.R..
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was alone when everybody refused to support him in writing the petition to defend bodybuilding and to bring it to Moscow. But the achieved victory of the petition opened doors for everybody to develop bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R..
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. ON TOP AT ANY COST.
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted to rule the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding. After the success of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS he addressed the former Chairman of the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” and a known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). ROMAN MOROZ was working at the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” at that time. Telling him about the 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS suggested to refresh the old “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It seemed unreal as on December, 1977 the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport issued a new order to make the prosecution of bodybuilding more strict. Anyway the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport through ROMAN MOROZ wanted to control the illegal bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and he agreed. Both decided that the Chairman of the federation representing Moscow political power will be ROMAN MOROZ and the secretary will be ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In order not to be alone they included several statistic persons too. Though ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS already started prosecuting INNAR MARDO he was also included to the member’s list. Formally this organization was a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation”. As weightlifters were not interested in bodybuilding in fact ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was ruling the federation alone.
Wishing to be “A hero” in front of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS invited several medium level U.S.S.R. weightlifting officials to the 1979 “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda. It was a humor as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with “Amber Prix International” ever. Having guests of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” the 1979 “Amber Prix” was of two parts – power exercises and evaluation of the body. Everything according the old F.I.H.C. traditions. Without power exercises weightlifting guests of Moscow had nothing common with bodybuilding.
From Moscow to Klaipeda arrived the medium level official of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” JURIJ SANDALOV (ЮрийСандалов) and the Chairman of the 1963, 1968 and now of the 1979 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). We want to underline that since 1978 the “Amber Prix International” was the “unofficial U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship”. So the level was very high.
Wishing to please the guests of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS collected money from bodybuilders and bought for them Lithuanian televisions “Shilelis” («Шилялис»). It was difficult to get these televisions in the U.S.S.R. at those times. It is hard to say what was in mind of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. From Moscow to Klaipeda came only representatives of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” and they were not top officers. Bodybuilding was still prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Even the Ministry of Sport could do nothing as the decision to prohibit bodybuilding came from the highest political powers of the U.S.S.R.. But ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was satisfied by the position of the secretary of the formal federation. This was enough for him then. The federation went on doing nothing real. By the way later ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS went on presenting televisions to Moscow weightlifting officials again and again.

At the 1979 „Amber Prix International“ participated athletes from Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR.

2023 NEWS INTERNATIONAL. GREAT INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN LATVIA. Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites 140 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader. We mean sport, not festivals. On October 1, 2023 the 28-th Europe Amateur Championship and traditional contest “Liepaja Classic 2023” will be organized at Liepaja Olympic Centre (Republic of Latvia). WHO IN U.S.S.R. COULD THINK ON INTERNATIONAL LEVEL? ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN LIFE AND SPORT. Everyone‘s personality depends on many items. One of them is – basing on which position a personality analizes all happenings. We mean bodybuilders, of course. Do you think of this as a sportsman, as a trainer or organizer or you think as an International Leader? Specialists of our sport scrutinize the same documents and the same basics but everybody of them evaluate the same items on a different way. Then we may look if this specialist is of a local level or he represents the International one. The specialist must get himself above the happenings of his time and he must look on everything like a flying bird high in the sky. Otherwise he can not understand waht is going on. In the U.S.S.R. there were only few personalities who could think wide in the very beginning of bodybuilding. The representatives of various regions of the U.S.S.R. mostly were thinking in a narrow way. For example, Tiumen gym trainer JEVGENIJ KOLTUN (ЕвгенийКолтун, R.S.F.S.R.) always represented a gym level and nothing more. The same was with a Kaliningrad trainer JURIJ SMOLIAKOV (ЮрийСмоляков, R.S.F.S.R.) and with a Severodvinsk trainer the U.S.S.R. Champion ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (АлександрЛемехов, R.S.F.S.R.). The same was with a Leningrad gym trainer VLADIMIR DUBININ (ВладимирДубинин, R.S.F.S.R.). A representative of Riga (Latvian SSR) FELIKS SAJKOVSKIJ (ФеликсСайковский) and nearly all representatives of the Lithuanian SSR were on the same local level of understanding. There were no more active bodybuilding organizers in the U.S.S.R. at that time but only those we mentioned only. The exception could be the General Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («ФедерациякультуризмаС.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (РоманасКалинаускас). How we can understand this „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ when bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. is prohibited? It had totally no power. But unfortunatelly all activities of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS were done through intrigues and blackmailing of his sport friends to the Communist political powers. Knowing no foreign languages ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was separated from the World and could not understand the International process. Another exceptional person was INNAR MARDO (ИннарМардо, 1946 – 2002, Tallinn, Estonian SSR). He also did not know any foreign language and worked only in Estonia. Even to do anything on the U.S.S.R. level he had no interest. But on regular basis organized by INNAR MARDO „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («МемориалГеоргаТенно», 1971 – 1989, Tallinn, Estonian SSR) contests gave him a huge prestige and respect of others. One more exception was DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. During the period of bodybuilding prohibition he organized illegal „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарныйприз», 1968 – 2023, Klaipeda, Lithuanian SSR) contests in 1974, 1975, 1976 and in 1977. Wishing to defend bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for several years was in correspondence with the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R. („U.S.S.R. Goskomsport“,ГоскомспортС.С.С.Р.). Finally received from the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport a negatyve answer DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a bodybuilding defending petition and personally brought it to Moscow. He presented the petition to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers: to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»). In 1978 due to the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the U.S.S.R. political powers gave him permition to organize „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR). Leaders do not like a stable life. A Leader of any kind has courage and resposibility. Leaders always seek the result end never doubt if they will not succeed. At the same time the majority does nothing. They sit in silence. So who was the bodybuilding Leader in the U.S.S.R.? The very similar to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS life was of his friends in sport: the President I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, also the similar way of life was of the President N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. The same similar way was of the General Secretary F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) International OSCAR STATE. Not knowing foreign languages narrowed possibilities of INNAR MARDO, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS assisted and helped him always. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not know any foreign language and he always worked to be close to the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport. To say more he did his best to be close to the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation (ФедерациятяжёлойатлетикиС.С.С.Р.). That were his top items for respect and loyality. But what he could get out of this when bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.? Just nothing. While studying English and German philology at the Vilnius State University DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did several attempts to unite gyms of Vilnius City. Nobody else never tried to do this. Anyway bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and bodybuilders were afraid to do anything. It is easy to speak when the work is done and everything goes smoothly. But at the moment to fight agaist bodybuilding prohibition no one supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. No one. Today being already old many former U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers and bodybuilders try to „be Facebook friends“ of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Fine. But where they were at the hard times of risky fighting? During the fifty years of his bodybuilding activities there was a number of „deputies“ and assistants of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Many wanted to take the place of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and to go on doing the same. No one succeeded. Many disliked the stormy activities of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Especially when he succeeded in his work. And he did. Having no wish to get into the intrigues of such people DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got into the Vilnius State University in 1979 again. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS studied law after he received the speciality of the phylology before. And again he succeeded. The same happened with INNAR MARDO. He was pressed by the people of envy and hate to leave his work and positions after the intriques in the formal Bodybuilding Federattion of the Estonian SSR. INNAR MARDO did not succeed to come back in full power again. There were several attemps but he was never back to the former normal situation. Hate and envy of his bodybuilding collegues ruined his life in sport. This information is based on the letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Klaipeda bodybuilding was always a „Separate Republic“. And still is. It was in Lithuania, in the U.S.S.R. and Internationally now. It was based on the social and juridical status, on the International level - remember the World Bodybuilding Leaders whom we have mentioned above. International President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS is involved in the work of a number of International organizations which are collaborating with U.N. (United Nations) and U.N.S.E.C.O. (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).Who else was in the same position? The road was long. Much work and studies were needed. In 2011 the Official Visit of the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was organized to Vatican. Listening about the Bodybuilding activities during the years of prohibition of this sport in the Socialist Countries the Vatican Congregat Perfect Cardinal J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO (КардиналИозефТомко) was interested very much. Very big interest was shown to the bodybuilding defending petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and the victory that was achieved due to this. J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO positively evaluated our efforts to fight for the Bodybuilding Sport recognition and at once he named DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS as the „disident of the Communist Regime“. For this work done the Vatican Congregat Perfect Cardinal J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Original Vatican Pontific Medal (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to the International President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. Federation EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011). During the last decades DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS had meetings and spoke about various International questions with the President Parliament Austria Professor ALFRED GERSTL (ПрезидентПарламентаАвстриипрофессорАльфредГерстл), the Prime Minister of the Republic Slovakia VLADIMIR MECIAR (премьерминистрСловакииВладимирМечиар), the Prime Minister of the Republic Slovakia ROBERT FICO (премьерминистрСловакииРобертФицо), President Parliament Republic Slovakia JAN FIGEL (президентПарламентаСловакии Ян Фигель), President Parliament Republic Lithuania ARUNAS VALINSKAS (президентПарламентаЛитвыАрунасВалинскас), Prime Minister Republic Lithuania GEDIMINAS KIRKILAS (премьерминистрЛитвыГедиминасКиркилас), Prime Minister Republic Lithuania ALGIRDAS BUTKEVICIUS (премьерминистрЛитвыАльгирдасБуткявичус) and other High State officials of various Asia and Europe Countries. In 2015 at the International contest in front of a number of Members of the Parliament Republic Lithuania the representative of the Government Republic Lithuania ANTANAS VINKUS (Антанас Винкус) named DSc. It is easy to speak when the work is done and everything goes smoothly. But at the moment to fight agaist bodybuilding prohibition no one supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. No one. Today being already old many former U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers and bodybuilders try to „be Facebook friends“ of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Fine. But where they were at the hard times of risky fighting? During the fifty years of his bodybuilding activities there was a number of „deputies“ and assistants of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Many wanted to take the place of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and to go on doing the same. No one succeeded. Many disliked the stormy activities of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Especially when he succeeded in his work. And he did. Having no wish to get into the intrigues of such people DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got into the Vilnius State University in 1979 again. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS studied law after he received the speciality of the phylology before. And again he succeeded. The same happened with INNAR MARDO. He was pressed by the people of envy and hate to leave his work and positions after the intriques in the formal Bodybuilding Federattion of the Estonian SSR. INNAR MARDO did not succeed to come back in full power again. There were several attemps but he was never back to the former normal situation. Hate and envy of his bodybuilding collegues ruined his life in sport. This information is based on the letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Klaipeda bodybuilding was always a „Separate Republic“. And still is. It was in Lithuania, in the U.S.S.R. and Internationally now. It was based on the social and juridical status, on the International level - remember the World Bodybuilding Leaders whom we have mentioned above. International President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS is involved in the work of a number of International organizations which are collaborating with U.N. (United Nations) and U.N.S.E.C.O. (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).Who else was in the same position? The road was long. Much work and studies were needed. In 2011 the Official Visit of the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was organized to Vatican. Listening about the Bodybuilding activities during the years of prohibition of this sport in the Socialist Countries the Vatican Congregat Perfect Cardinal J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO (КардиналИозефТомко) was interested very much. Very big interest was shown to the bodybuilding defending petition of DSc. What was going on in the U.S.S.R. at the background of the 1979 „Amber Prix International“?
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS always was seeking career. In sport too. There is nothing bad about this, but he did it in awful ways. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was cheating his friends in sport, he did false votings and he blackmailed his friends against the political powers of the U.S.S.R.. Also he did bad things for those whom he did not like in bodybuilding.
Since 1973 bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Fighting against this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received a a letter with negatyve answer from the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport. Having no support of bodybuilding friends through his petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reached the Victory. It was unexpected for everybody. It was unexpected for DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS too.
Many those who were afraid to fight against bodybuilding prohibition became active when DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS on his own risk organized successful 1978 “Amber Prix International”. After 1973 it was the first official bodybuilding contest that was done in public in the U.S.S.R.. Petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was presented in Moscow for the highest U.S.S.R. political powers and it opened doors for bodybuilding contests. Since 1978 “Amber Prix International” was the regular unofficial “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship” („неофициальныйЧемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»).
Before the voyage of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was against his petition. He was afraid. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS explained, that “all DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS does is on his own risk. This way he will not risk his membership in the Communist Party. If something negative about the reaction of political powers happens ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS will say he did not know anything about the petition”.
After the successful 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS remembered about the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” (“Atletinės gimnastikos komisija”, «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). This federation at the F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste)times was based as a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.»). When bodybuilding was prohibited in 1973 the “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” stopped it’s work and all five it’s Chairmen left bodybuilding. Basing on the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received political permit to organize “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted the refresh the forgotten “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It was absurd. The bodybuilding sport was prohibited and someone at the same time wants to set the International Bodybuilding Federation in the U.S.S.R..
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was alone when everybody refused to support him in writing the petition to defend bodybuilding and to bring it to Moscow. But the achieved victory of the petition opened doors for everybody to develop bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R..
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. ON TOP AT ANY COST.
ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted to rule the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding. After the success of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS he addressed the former Chairman of the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” and a known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). ROMAN MOROZ was working at the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” at that time. Telling him about the 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS suggested to refresh the old “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It seemed unreal as on December, 1977 the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport issued a new order to make the prosecution of bodybuilding more strict. Anyway the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport through ROMAN MOROZ wanted to control the illegal bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and he agreed. Both decided that the Chairman of the federation representing Moscow political power will be ROMAN MOROZ and the secretary will be ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In order not to be alone they included several statistic persons too. Though ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS already started prosecuting INNAR MARDO he was also included to the member’s list. Formally this organization was a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation”. As weightlifters were not interested in bodybuilding in fact ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was ruling the federation alone.
Wishing to be “A hero” in front of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS invited several medium level U.S.S.R. weightlifting officials to the 1979 “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda. It was a humor as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with “Amber Prix International” ever. Having guests of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” the 1979 “Amber Prix” was of two parts – power exercises and evaluation of the body. Everything according the old F.I.H.C. traditions. Without power exercises weightlifting guests of Moscow had nothing common with bodybuilding.
From Moscow to Klaipeda arrived the medium level official of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” JURIJ SANDALOV (ЮрийСандалов) and the Chairman of the 1963, 1968 and now of the 1979 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). We want to underline that since 1978 the “Amber Prix International” was the “unofficial U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship”. So the level was very high.
Wishing to please the guests of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS collected money from bodybuilders and bought for them Lithuanian televisions “Shilelis” («Шилялис»). It was difficult to get these televisions in the U.S.S.R. at those times. It is hard to say what was in mind of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. From Moscow to Klaipeda came only representatives of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” and they were not top officers. Bodybuilding was still prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Even the Ministry of Sport could do nothing as the decision to prohibit bodybuilding came from the highest political powers of the U.S.S.R.. But ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was satisfied by the position of the secretary of the formal federation. This was enough for him then. The federation went on doing nothing real. By the way later ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS went on presenting televisions to Moscow weightlifting officials again and again.

At the 1979 „Amber Prix International“ participated athletes from Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR.

2023 NEWS INTERNATIONAL. GREAT INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN LATVIA. Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites 140 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. On October 1, 2023 the 28-th Europe Amateur Championship and traditional contest “Liepaja Classic 2023” will be organized at Liepaja Olympic Centre (Republic of Latvia). The organizers hope it will be a tradition and the contest will be held every year. It is planned that the International Bodybuilding Leaders will officially visit the Parliament of the Latvian Republic on October 2. 1980. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“. WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN SOCIALIST WORLD? In 1980 bodybuilding still was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries. When in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote the petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding, he personally brought it to Moscow and presented to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers. The achieved victory let start public competitions in Klaipeda (Lithusnian SSR). Until this contests were illegal and without public. The first official bosybuilding contest was the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарныйприз», 1968 – 2023) which was organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Since 1978 the „Amber Prix International“ got the status of the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («НеофициальныйчемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»). In 1980 three International bodybuilding contests were organized in the U.S.S.R. and all of the were held in the Lithuanian SSR. One of them was the „Amber Prix International“ which was held in the Palace of Culture of the City Klaipeda. The organizers did not expect so big crowd of spectators. So the doors of the palace were broken by entering crowd at the very beginning. The second contest was held in Kaunas and that was the „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė“, «Кубоккомсомола»). The Category Winners were STANISLAV POLIAKOV (Станислав Поляков, Latvian SSR) and Lithuanians VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS ir EUGENE ZURCEV (Евгений Журцев). The Over All Winner was VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS. One more contest was organized in Vilnius. That was the competition „Lithuanian SSR versus Hungarian SSR“. Hungarians did not come with strong bodybuildiers and all first places went to the Lithuanians: EUGENE GORELIK (ЕвгенийГорелик), VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS and EUGENE ZURCEV. In 1980 the traditional „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («МемориалГеоргаТенно», 1971 - 1989) was not organized in the Estonian SSR. When in 1979 INNAR MARDO (ИннарМардо, 1946 – 2002) and best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder of that time Estonian OLEV ANNUS returned from competition in Czechoslovakian SSR they guarreled in between. Letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS say that OLEV ANNUS wrote bad letters about INNAR MARDO to political powers of the Estonian SSR. Due to this INNAR MARDO lost his gym and his position of the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. Also the Communist powers of the Estonian SSR prohibited 1980 „Georg Tenno Momorial“. The leadership of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR took OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO. INNAR AMARDO as well as DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not stop bodybuilding activities due to the conflicts. Both went on working on their own. In 1980 separatly from the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO and INDREK OTSUS went to „Trener“ contest in the Czechoslovakian SSR. INDREK OTSUS won against the 1975 Over All I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) Europe Champion PETER STACH again and reveived the title of the Over All Winner. NABBA and WFF.
After seeing a post from Nabba India incorporating myself in a joint NABBA/WFF (Lancefield) promotion and other posts with fabricated history on! It was necessary to post the following to show NABBAs stance with the WFF!
It was discussed at the NABBA Universe congress that NABBA has never had any affiliation with WFF (Lancefield).
NABBA is a lone non profit making amateur organisation,with democracy and a committee that decides any change democratically, we make decisions as a committee and an amalgamation of the two organisations was never voted on or approved. Nabba has always stood alone.
The WFF (Lancefield) and it’s fake fabricated history of 1968,was set up to organise fitness classes it has no democratic committee, their decisions are made by its President The organisation was set up by Klaus Hoffman and Edmundas Daubaras, in 1995 and not 1968 which is the fake history seen on Wikipedia without any history, it is actually stolen without permission from its organiser Edmundas Daubaras, a competition called the Amber Prix which dates back to 1968 and belongs to Edmundas! Not WFFs history?
Eventually Edmundas and Klause parted ways and if you are bothered to research it, there’s now two WFF federations,neither of which supports the other, one belonging to Edmundas,the other to Graeme Lancefield, who eventually took over from Klaus Hoffman in 2013. Graeme used his NABBA status to influence and join all NABBA countries to WFF (Lancefield) and eventually without democracy joined it to the Nabba name , no votes were ever taken.and I have the evidence of the true history if anyone cares to see it ! When the reigns of the Nabba Presidency were handed to me, It was my duty to the members to be loyal to Nabba and assist its members to do my best for its future and remain one of the best, certainly the most historic,authentic and oldest bodybuilding federation in the world!
Without prejudice and from what I see and now know about the WFF (Lancefield), I rightly started asking questions, about the authenticity of the WF F(Lancefield) and its 1968 history! Nabba is transparent and does not fabricate, invent,make up lies or dictate to its members, we do not support the way in which the WFF (Lancefield) is managed! We at the original NABBA are all in agreement and we have asked for all Nabba countries to remove the Nabba name and logo from any WFF promotion! So please do not use my photo alongside any WFF (Lancefield) promotions and please respect our decision to stand alone!
We have no problem in countries wanting to stay affiliated to both federations, but it has to be done separately.

Bodybuilding Federation” and a known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). ROMAN MOROZ was working at the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” at that time. Telling him about the 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS suggested to refresh the old “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It seemed unreal as on December, 1977 the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport issued a new order to make the prosecution of bodybuilding more strict. Anyway the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport through ROMAN MOROZ wanted to control the illegal bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and he agreed. Both decided that the Chairman of the federation representing Moscow political power will be ROMAN MOROZ and the secretary will be ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In order not to be alone they included several statistic persons too. Though ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS already started prosecuting INNAR MARDO he was also included to the member’s list. Formally this organization was a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation”. As weightlifters were not interested in bodybuilding in fact ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was ruling the federation alone.
Wishing to be “A hero” in front of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS invited several medium level U.S.S.R. weightlifting officials to the 1979 “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda. It was a humor as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with “Amber Prix International” ever. Having guests of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” the 1979 “Amber Prix” was of two parts – power exercises and evaluation of the body. Everything according the old F.I.H.C. traditions. Without power exercises weightlifting guests of Moscow had nothing common with bodybuilding.
From Moscow to Klaipeda arrived the medium level official of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” JURIJ SANDALOV (ЮрийСандалов) and the Chairman of the 1963, 1968 and now of the 1979 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). We want to underline that since 1978 the “Amber Prix International” was the “unofficial U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship”. So the level was very high.
Wishing to please the guests of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS collected money from bodybuilders and bought for them Lithuanian televisions “Shilelis” («Шилялис»). It was difficult to get these televisions in the U.S.S.R. at those times. It is hard to say what was in mind of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. From Moscow to Klaipeda came only representatives of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” and they were not top officers. Bodybuilding was still prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Even the Ministry of Sport could do nothing as the decision to prohibit bodybuilding came from the highest political powers of the U.S.S.R.. But ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was satisfied by the position of the secretary of the formal federation. This was enough for him then. The federation went on doing nothing real. By the way later ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS went on presenting televisions to Moscow weightlifting officials again and again.

ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS wanted to rule the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding. After the success of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS he addressed the former Chairman of the 1968 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” and a known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). ROMAN MOROZ was working at the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” at that time. Telling him about the 1978 “Amber Prix International” ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS suggested to refresh the old “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation”. It seemed unreal as on December, 1977 the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport issued a new order to make the prosecution of bodybuilding more strict. Anyway the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport through ROMAN MOROZ wanted to control the illegal bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and he agreed. Both decided that the Chairman of the federation representing Moscow political power will be ROMAN MOROZ and the secretary will be ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In order not to be alone they included several statistic persons too. Though ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS already started prosecuting INNAR MARDO he was also included to the member’s list. Formally this organization was a part of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation”. As weightlifters were not interested in bodybuilding in fact ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was ruling the federation alone.
Wishing to be “A hero” in front of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS invited several medium level U.S.S.R. weightlifting officials to the 1979 “Amber Prix International” in Klaipeda. It was a humor as ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS had nothing to do with “Amber Prix International” ever. Having guests of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” the 1979 “Amber Prix” was of two parts – power exercises and evaluation of the body. Everything according the old F.I.H.C. traditions. Without power exercises weightlifting guests of Moscow had nothing common with bodybuilding.
From Moscow to Klaipeda arrived the medium level official of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” JURIJ SANDALOV (ЮрийСандалов) and the Chairman of the 1963, 1968 and now of the 1979 “U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation” ROMAN MOROZ (РоманМороз). We want to underline that since 1978 the “Amber Prix International” was the “unofficial U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship”. So the level was very high.
Wishing to please the guests of Moscow ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS collected money from bodybuilders and bought for them Lithuanian televisions “Shilelis” («Шилялис»). It was difficult to get these televisions in the U.S.S.R. at those times. It is hard to say what was in mind of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. From Moscow to Klaipeda came only representatives of the “U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation” and they were not top officers. Bodybuilding was still prohibited in the U.S.S.R.. Even the Ministry of Sport could do nothing as the decision to prohibit bodybuilding came from the highest political powers of the U.S.S.R.. But ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was satisfied by the position of the secretary of the formal federation. This was enough for him then. The federation went on doing nothing real. By the way later ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS went on presenting televisions to Moscow weightlifting officials again and again.

At the 1979 „Amber Prix International“ participated athletes from Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR.

1980. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“. WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN SOCIALIST WORLD? 1980 „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“ RESULTS. In 1980 bodybuilding still was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries. When in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote the petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding, he personally brought it to Moscow and presented to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers. The achieved victory let start public competitions in Klaipeda (Lithusnian SSR). Until this contests were illegal and without public. The first official bosybuilding contest was the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарныйприз», 1968 – 2023) which was organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Since 1978 the „Amber Prix International“ got the status of the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («НеофициальныйчемпионатС.С.С.Р. покультуризму»). In 1980 three International bodybuilding contests were organized in the U.S.S.R. and all of the were held in the Lithuanian SSR. One of them was the „Amber Prix International“ which was held in the Palace of Culture of the City Klaipeda. The organizers did not expect so big crowd of spectators. So the doors of the palace were broken by entering crowd at the very beginning. The second contest was held in Kaunas and that was the „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė“, «Кубоккомсомола»). The Category Winners were STANISLAV POLIAKOV (Станислав Поляков, Latvian SSR) and Lithuanians VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS ir EUGENE ZURCEV (Евгений Журцев). The Over All Winner was VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS. One more contest was organized in Vilnius. That was the competition „Lithuanian SSR versus Hungarian SSR“. Hungarians did not come with strong bodybuildiers and all first places went to the Lithuanians: EUGENE GORELIK (ЕвгенийГорелик), VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS and EUGENE ZURCEV. In 1980 the traditional „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («МемориалГеоргаТенно», 1971 - 1989) was not organized in the Estonian SSR. When in 1979 INNAR MARDO (ИннарМардо, 1946 – 2002) and best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder of that time Estonian OLEV ANNUS returned from competition in Czechoslovakian SSR they guarreled in between. Letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS say that OLEV ANNUS wrote bad letters about INNAR MARDO to political powers of the Estonian SSR. Due to this INNAR MARDO lost his gym and his position of the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. Also the Communist powers of the Estonian SSR prohibited 1980 „Georg Tenno Momorial“. The leadership of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR took OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO. INNAR AMARDO as well as DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not stop bodybuilding activities due to the conflicts. Both went on working on their own. In 1980 separatly from the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO and INDREK OTSUS went to „Trener“ contest in the Czechoslovakian SSR. INDREK OTSUS won against the 1975 Over All I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) Europe Champion PETER STACH again and reveived the title of the Over All Winner. WHO IN U.S.S.R. COULD THINK ON INTERNATIONAL LEVEL? ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN LIFE AND SPORT. Everyone‘s personality depends on many items. One of them is – basing on which position a personality analizes all happenings. We mean bodybuilders, of course. Do you think of this as a sportsman, as a trainer or organizer or you think as an International Leader? Specialists of our sport scrutinize the same documents and the same basics but everybody of them evaluate the same items on a different way. Then we may look if this specialist is of a local level or he represents the International one. The specialist must get himself above the happenings of his time and he must look on everything like a flying bird high in the sky. Otherwise he can not understand waht is going on. In the U.S.S.R. there were only few personalities who could think wide in the very beginning of bodybuilding. The representatives of various regions of the U.S.S.R. mostly were thinking in a narrow way. For example, Tiumen gym trainer JEVGENIJ KOLTUN (ЕвгенийКолтун, R.S.F.S.R.) always represented a gym level and nothing more. The same was with a Kaliningrad trainer JURIJ SMOLIAKOV (ЮрийСмоляков, R.S.F.S.R.) and with a Severodvinsk trainer the U.S.S.R. Champion ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (АлександрЛемехов, R.S.F.S.R.). The same was with a Leningrad gym trainer VLADIMIR DUBININ (ВладимирДубинин, R.S.F.S.R.). A representative of Riga (Latvian SSR) FELIKS SAJKOVSKIJ (ФеликсСайковский) and nearly all representatives of the Lithuanian SSR were on the same local level of understanding. There were no more active bodybuilding organizers in the U.S.S.R. at that time but only those we mentioned only. The exception could be the General Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ when bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. is prohibited? It had totally no power. But unfortunatelly all activities of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS were done through intrigues and blackmailing of his sport friends to the Communist political powers. Knowing no foreign languages ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was separated from the World and could not understand the International process. Another exceptional person was INNAR MARDO (ИннарМардо, 1946 – 2002, Tallinn, Estonian SSR). He also did not know any foreign language and worked only in Estonia. Even to do anything on the U.S.S.R. level he had no interest. But on regular basis organized by INNAR MARDO „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («МемориалГеоргаТенно», 1971 – 1989, Tallinn, Estonian SSR) contests gave him a huge prestige and respect of others. One more exception was DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. During the period of bodybuilding prohibition he organized illegal „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарныйприз», 1968 – 2023, Klaipeda, Lithuanian SSR) contests in 1974, 1975, 1976 and in 1977. Wishing to defend bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for several years was in correspondence with the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R. („U.S.S.R. Goskomsport“,ГоскомспортС.С.С.Р.). Finally received from the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport a negatyve answer DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a bodybuilding defending petition and personally brought it to Moscow. He presented the petition to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers: to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»). In 1978 due to the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the U.S.S.R. political powers gave him permition to organize „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR). Leaders do not like a stable life. A Leader of any kind has courage and resposibility. Leaders always seek the result end never doubt if they will not succeed. At the same time the majority does nothing. They sit in silence. So who was the bodybuilding Leader in the U.S.S.R.? The very similar to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS life was of his friends in sport: the President I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, also the similar way of life was of the President N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. The same similar way was of the General Secretary F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) International OSCAR STATE. Not knowing foreign languages narrowed possibilities of INNAR MARDO, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS assisted and helped him always. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not know any foreign language and he always worked to be close to the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport. To say more he did his best to be close to the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation (ФедерациятяжёлойатлетикиС.С.С.Р.). That were his top items for respect and loyality. But what he could get out of this when bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.? Just nothing. While studying English and German philology at the Vilnius State University DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did several attempts to unite gyms of Vilnius City. Nobody else never tried to do this. Anyway bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and bodybuilders were afraid to do anything. It is easy to speak when the work is done and everything goes smoothly. But at the moment to fight agaist bodybuilding prohibition no one supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. No one. Today being already old many former U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers and bodybuilders try to „be Facebook friends“ of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Fine. But where they were at the hard times of risky fighting? During the fifty years of his bodybuilding activities there was a number of „deputies“ and assistants of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Many wanted to take the place of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and to go on doing the same. No one succeeded. Many disliked the stormy activities of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Especially when he succeeded in his work. And he did. Having no wish to get into the intrigues of such people DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got into the Vilnius State University in 1979 again. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS studied law after he received the speciality of the phylology before. And again he succeeded. The same happened with INNAR MARDO. He was pressed by the people of envy and hate to leave his work and positions after the intriques in the formal Bodybuilding Federattion of the Estonian SSR. INNAR MARDO did not succeed to come back in full power again. There were several attemps but he was never back to the former normal situation.
