1989 „U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP“.
The first step was done in 1988 at the first Official „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). Then the U.S.S.R. Over All Winner was VIKTORAS JUCYS (Lithuanian SSR). The contest was supported and recognized by the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“. In 1989 the first official „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ was held in Leningrad too. Basing on the results of this competition the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Team“ had been selected to participate at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France). The 1989 „U.S.S.R. Placing high in the World Ranking List Lithuania Professional bodybuilder VIDMANTAS MALAKAUSKAS is multiple World, „Universe“, „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024) and Europe Champion. He participates at the bodybuilding competitions since 1994. Due to huge achevements in the International sport in 2024 at the Parliament Republic Lithuania VIDMANTAS MALAKAUSKAS was awarded with the International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. „Honour Silver Medal“ (“Международная серебряная медаль почёта”).

1989 SOCIALIST BODYBUILDING NEWS.
Since 1973 until 1987 in Socialist Countries bodybuilding was prohibited. Getting free this sport became very popular. People used to go to gyms and watch videos with ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, SYLVESTER STALLONE and CLAUDE VAN DAMME. In 1989 lots of various level bodybuilding contests were held in Socialist Countries. The most important 1989 International Competitions were the first official „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») and the contest „U.S.S.R. – USA“ („Матчевая встреча С.С.С.Р.). Both events were recongized and supported by the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.»).
„U.S.S.R. – USA“
On March 18, 1989 the International Contest „U.S.S.R. – USA“ (Матчевая встречя «С.С.С.Р. – США») was organized in Leningrad (R.S.F.S.R.). It was the first time when American bodybuilders came to the U.S.S.R.. Until this the U.S.S.R. bodybuiders knew USA bodybuilders only through the magazines. The organizers of the event from the USA side were LOUIS ZWICK and DAVID ZELON. USA expences were covered by LOUIS ZWICK. USA was represented by a number of I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) bodybuilders: CARLA DUNLAP, DIANA DENNIS, LAURA BEAUDRY, JEAN PAUL GUILLAUME, TROY ZUCCOLOTTO, REX LETTO. Placings of the Contest „U.S.S.R. – USA“: Winner JEAN PAUL GUILLAUME, second - TROY ZUCCOLOTTO, third – NIKOLAJ GRISANOV (Belorussian SSR). As a guest DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS participeted at the competition in Leningrad. Together with LOUIS ZWICK he managed to run away from K.G.B. (Комитет государственной безопасности С.С.С.Р.) agents and make two films about the training of well known U.S.S.R. bodybuilders VIKTORAS JUCYS and ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS (both Lithuanian SSR). In 1989 Klaipeda bodybuilders stopped participating at the offcicial U.S.S.R. contests and U.S.S.R. teams. Newly restored National Olympic Committee of Lithuanian SSR (N.O.C. Lithuania, L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas) strongly suggested Lithuanian athletes to behave like this. Being a member of the N.O.C. Lithuania Klaipeda department DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS stopped his activities in the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). He went on working on the independant membership of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Lithuanian SSR at the I.F.B.B.. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER had active correspondance on the matter. The negotiations went on. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wanted BEN WEIDER to be interested about the membership of the Lithuanian SSR and suggested him a number of big business projects. BEN WEIDER wrote him not to discuss these questions through letters. He suggested to cover the topic at the coming presonal meetings.
TROJKA
I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER came to the 1989 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ in Leningrad. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and BEN WEIDER agreed to discuss a number of urgent questions at the V.I.P. banquet. The banquet took palce at the popular Leningrad reastaurant „Trojka“ “ («Тройка»). The Russian organizers gave DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS two tickets to the banquet. Returned from the Contest to hotel DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and and his pupil VIKTORAS JUCYS visited his companions from Lithuania SSR. Also in the room were present Vice President of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS, members of the federation RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS, ALEKSANDRAS NOVIKOVAS and today‘s fampus Lithuania art photographer ALGIMANTAS ALEKSANDRAVICIUS. No one of them was invited to the banquet with BEN WEIDER. Speaking about the happenings in Leningrad ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS said he will go to the banquet together with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS dissagreed and reminded to everybody sins of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS: how due to his ego and black envy ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS ruined or tried to ruin sport careers of Lithuanian SSR bodybuilders ALBERTAS REMEIKA, JURIJ GUSEV (Юрий Гусев), ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS, also of Estonian SSR bodybuilder OLEV ANNUS. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reminded about how for the same reasons in 1979 ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS ruined International Contest „U.S.S.R. – Czechoslovakian SSR“. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was working on this several years on. DSc. The documents are kept at the archieves of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation). EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS reminded how in 1988 ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS ruined participation of Lithuanian SSR bodybuilders VIKTORAS JUCYS and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS at the 1988 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Australia. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS kept the passports of bodybuilders and they could not fly to Australia. Then ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS started to cry and got on the knees asking a pardon. This way DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS left ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS and went to the banquet together with VIKTORAS JUCYS. At the banquet DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS sat together with BEN WEIDER. Both went on speaking on the questions of Lithuania membership in the I.F.B.B. federation and also on a number of commercial matters. BEN WEIDER invited DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS as his personal guest to 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris. And that happened some time later.
1989. „U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING FEDERATION“ COUNCIL.
The 1989 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ Council was collected in Leningrad as Lithuanians aimed to get independant membership in the I.F.B.B. federation. It was a chance to solve this problematic question peacefully. All Chairmen of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ were present: Chairman VASILIJ CAIKOVSKIJ (Василий Чайковский), Vice Chairmen VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин) and ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. Also representatives of the „U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry“ («Министерства спорта С.С.С.Р.») were present at the Council too. National Federation of the Lithuanian SSR was represented by a member of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas) ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS, a member of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR Klaipeda Department DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and ARUNAS PETRAITIS. Basing on his correspondance with the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER, on the „U.S.S.R. Constitution“, on the Constitution of the Lithuanian SSR, on the I.F.B.B. Constitution DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a Declatarion. The Declaration was about the independant membership of the National Federation of the Lithuanian SSR in the I.F.B.B.. It was ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS to read the Declaration. He was afraid... DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and ARUNAS PETRAITIS pushed him to the stage. Again ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not read. Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS came on the stage and said the preliminary words. Only after this ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS read the Declaration. The W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International Archieves have a video material about this happening. Delegates of various Socialist Republics were against the action of the Lithuanians and did not support the Declaration. Lithuanians were alone as National Federations of the Estonian and Latvian SSR joined them some months later and only formally. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS informed BEN WEIDER about the Concil in Leningrad. 1989. I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, PARIS.
During all bodybuilding history the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship was one uncomparibable event. During the years only two International bodybuilding events were of so high level. It was the famous of sexual scandals 2004 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Moscow (Russian Federation) and the 2011 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) World Championship in Viena (Austria). During the eighties of the last Century the International W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) ruling structure was like this: President RENAUT ROBINET and General Secretary AKLI CHABENI. Both mentioned persons together with formal I.F.B.B. Vice President and Creator of the W.A.B.B.A. association (it was created in 1976) SERGE NUBRET were working on the 1989 W.A.B.B.A. World Championship in Paris. That time the sponsors were really very big. Some way the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited RENAUT ROBINET to his house in Canada. After this visit RENAUT ROBINET declared that he is leaving W.A.B.B.A. and starts working with the I.F.B.B.. As all preliminary work for the 1989 W.A.B.B.A. World Championship was done RENAUT ROBINET announced that he is organizing the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris instead of W.A.B.B.A. now. This action of RENAUT ROBINET made awfull strike on SERGE NUBRET and he never reached the previous W.A.B.B.A. level again. After the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris RENAUT ROBINET got no preferences from BEN WEIDER. So he left I.F.B.B. and never appeared in bodybuilding again and was forgotten for ever. Through the years is evident that no International Bodybuilding Organizations around the World ever made any other bodybuilding contest which is worth to notice. Nothing to compare.
Those bodybuilders of the Lithuanian SSR who neglected the orders of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K.) were included to the U.S.S.R. Team and participated at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris. They were not successfull at the competition as all U.S.S.R. team too.
The Chairmen of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were angry about Lithuanian aims to get independant I.F.B.B. membership. They did not include the Vice Chairman of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS to the U.S.S.R. delegation to go to Paris again.
During the 1989 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») in Leningrad DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited as a Personal Guest of BEN WEIDER to the World Championship in Paris. Their common correspondance went on and BEN WEIDER let DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS take any member of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Lithusnisn SSR together with him to Paris. Thinking of support about the membership in the I.F.B.B. federation DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS with him. Both Lithuanians came to France separate from the U.S.S.R. delegation. Later DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS regreted about his decission. During several meetings with the emigrants of the old 1918 Lithuanian Republic ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude towards independance of Lithuania.
Delegations of various countries lived in the famous Paris „La Fayette“ hotel. The contest was also organized at a huge „La Fayette“ Palace. Just before the I.F.B.B. World Championship BEN WEIDER invited Lithuanians to his appartments in „La Fayette“ penthouse. The Assistant of BEN WEIDER PAMELA KAGAN (Canada) was also present at the discussion then. The discussion lasted very long. With BEN WEIDER spoke DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not knew languages and even did not understand what both were speking about. Finally another assistant of BEN WEIDER RAFAEL SANTONJA entered the room and said that BEN WEIDER is needed down at the contest as the competitions are nearly to finish and it is high time to present award to the Over All World Champion. BEN WEIDER and DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS agreed to go on discussing matters via later correspondance.
The 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship Category Winners were ACHMED MOHMED (Egypt), VAN VALCOT SMITH (USA), BERNARD SEALY (Barbados) FRANK HILEBRAND (West Germany), JEAN LUC FAVRE (Switzerland).
There was a banquet in „La Fayette“ after the competition. BEN WEIDER sat DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS close to him and presented him to the Heads of the delegations of various countries. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got many new International contacts. Being drunk at the banquet ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS decided to „fight for Lithuanian Independance“ and quarreled with Vice Chairman of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Fdereation“ VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин). He accused VLADIMIR DUBININ about not taking him to I.F.B.B. Events in Australia (1988) and France (1989). It was DSc. 1989 I.F.B.B. EUROPE CHAMPIONSHIP.
In 1989 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding team participated at the I.F.B.B. Europe Championship in Oslo (Norway). Bodybuilders of the Socialist Countries did well – first time U.S.S.R. bodybuilder became European Champion. It was NIKOLAJ SHILA (Шила Николай) from Belorussian SSR. Also first places won ZUZANA KORINKOVA (Czechoslovakian SSR) and MIROSLAW DASZKEWICZ (People‘s Republic of Poland).
1989. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
In 1989 154 bodybuilders from 9 Socialist Countries took part at the „Amber Prix International“ («Янтарный приз», „Gintarinis prizas“, 1968 – 2024) in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR). They came from R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, Estonian SSR, Kazach SSR, Tadjic SSR, Moldavian SSR. Totally 51 team participated at the contest. The 2-d official „U.S.S.R. Junior Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму среди молодёжи») was organized together with „Amber Prix International“. This way U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Chairmen wanted to keep tide the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Lithuanian SSR as it was aiming to enter the I.F.B.B. independantly from the U.S.S.R.. The Winners of the 1989 Junior „Amber Prix International“ and the „U.S.S.R. Junior Championship“ were: KOLBASIUK ANDREJ (Колбасюк Андрей, R.S.F.S.R.), VISHNEVSKIJ ALEKSANDR (Вишневский Александр, R.S.F.S.R.), ZUR OLEG (Жур Олег, Lithuanian SSR), VOJTOVICH ANDREJ (Войтович Андрей, Belorussian SSR), VELIKOIVANENKO BORIS (Великоиваненко Борис, R.S.F.S.R.). Winners of the Main Categories were: PETRAITIS RAIMUNDAS, ZUR OLEG, BUCINSKAS ROLANDAS, JUCYS VIKTORAS (all from Lithuanian SSR). 1989. „GEORGO TENNO MEMORIAL“.
After a pause INNAR MARDO ((Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002) organized the 15-th „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 1989) in Tallinn (Estonian SSR) again. 39 bodybuilders from Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, Estonian SSR and R.S.F.S.R. took part at the contest. All Category Winners were from the Estonian SSR: women - UIT INNA, Juniors – JEMELJANENKOV ALEKSANDR (Емельяненков Александр), PETAJEV ALEKSANDR (Петаев Александр), Main Categories – SELENICHIN JEVGENIJ (Селенихин Евгений), KOSENKO PAVEL (Косенко Павел), ALEKSEJEV ALEKSANDR (Алексеев Александр), CELOBITCIKOV JURIJ (Челобитчиков Юрий). 1989 „U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CUP“.
In 1989 instead of traditional „Comsomol Cup“ («Кубок комсомола», „Komjaunimo taure“) contest Kaunas City (Lithuanian SSR) bodybuilding organizers made the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). Giving this competition to Lithuanians this way U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Chairmen wanted to keep tide the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Lithuanian SSR as it was aiming to enter the I.F.B.B. independantly from the U.S.S.R.. Anyway most famous bodybuilders of the Lithuanian SSR did not participate in Kaunas then. The order of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K.) was not to participate at the official U.S.S.R. contests and not to go into the U.S.S.R. teams.
1989. SECOND CONTEST „U.S.S.R. – USA“.
1989 spring competition „U.S.S.R. – USA“ («Матчевая встреча С.С.С.Р. – США») was very successfull. This was the reason to organize one more contest „U.S.S.R. – USA“. This time the event was financed by a businessman and former USA bodybuilder BILLY PAX. The main U.S.S.R. bodybuilders at this contest were GRISANOV NIKOLAJ (Гришанов Николай, Belorussian SSR) and VASIN ALEKSANDR (Васин Александр, R.S.F.S.R.). From the USA side were SHAWN RAY, LIONEL RANGER and MIKE HARRIS. The winner was NIKOLAJ GRISANOV, second LIONEL RANGER and third MIKE HARRIS.
VARIOUS OTHER INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
In 1989 the „A Man And A Woman“ («Мужчина и женщина») competition was organized in Leningrad and the „Tiumen Grand Prix“ («Гран При Тюмени») in Tiumen (R.S.F.S.R.). Also the first International women bodybuilding competition was held in Leningrad too. Junior Category Winners were DUCHOVIC NATALIJA (Духович Наталия – Мурниковене, Murnikoviene, Lithuanian SSR), TALAGAJEVA OKSANA (Талагаева Оксана, R.S.F.S.R.). Main Category Winners were again DUCHOVIC NATALIJA, MADAR MERIKE (Estonian SSR), JAVNIKOVA RAISA (Явникова Раиса, Ukrainian SSR). The Over All Winners were NATALIA DUCHOVIC (Juniors) and MERIKE MADAR (Main Categories). Since 1989 until 1993 trainer of NATALIA DUCHOVIC (Murnikoviene) was DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS.
International level Klaipeda bodybuilders kept to the order of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K.) and did not participate at the official U.S.S.R. competitions. Instead of this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took Klaipeda bodybuilding team to International contests in the Czechoslovakian SSR, East Germany (G.D.R., German Democratic Republic), Peoples Republic of Poland and Romania.
There were 60 bodybuilders from U.S.S.R.., F.R.G. (West Germany), G.D.R., Belgium and U.K. at the traditional „Sandow“ contest. Category Winners were: women - KORINKOVA ZUZANA (C.S.S.R.), LUX SYBILA (G.D.R.) and men – DUDAREC PIOTR, KOLOVANY JAROSLAV, BEDNARCIK JAROSLAV (all from Czechoslovakian SSR.) and TAYLOR GARRY (UK).
1989 International „Berliner Bar“contest was held in the Capital City of G.D.R. Berlin. 62 bodybuilders from the U.S.S.R., Hungarian SSR, G.D.R., Czechoslovakian SSR and „People‘s Republic of Poland“ took part at the event. Women Category Winners were: SUKUPOVA EVA (C.S.S.R.), TETCHKE ELLEN (G.D.R.), and Men Category Winners were – SHILA NIKOLAJ (U.S.S.R., Belorussian SSR), Czechoslovakians VRABEL ROMAN, BEDNARCIK JAROSKAV and VASIN ALEKSANDR (Васин Александр, U.S.S.R., R.S.F.S.R.).
At the same time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was going on developing Interantional realtions. In 1989 under invitation od the Weightlifting Federation of China Dsc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited the People‘s Republic of China. Then Chineese did not know anything about bodybuilding. Under invitation of the trainer of ANJA LANGER ULI HANNEMAN DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited West Germany. Under the invitation of W.A.B.B.A. Turkey DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited Turkey too.
„ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER RECOMENDS“.
After 1987 bodybuilding started to be very popular in the U.S.S.R.. Bodybuilders needed deeper methodical knowlidge. Since 1969 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was translating bodybuilding books and articles from various International magazines. He was making analytical revues about this. This way in 1989 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote and published in Russian language a book (magazine) and named it „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ («Арнольд Шварценеггер рекомендует», „Arnoldas Švarcenegeris rekomenduoja“). It was not for beginners. It was for the skilled bodybuilders in fact. The book was successfull and the 2 000 000 issues were printed and sold. It was like bodybuilding „ABC“ for several generations of bodybuilders. Since that time no other bodybuilding book was so much successfull.

PREDRAG MILOSEVIC informed about new fitness movement in Balkan Countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, European Turkey, Romania, Croatia and Serbia). PREDRAG MILOSEVIC plans to collect National Teams of Balkan Countries to the 35-th WORLD AM-Pro CHAMPIONSHIP in Lithuania (October 5, 2024).

CONTEMPORARY FEDERATIONS. WHAT IS IT?
I.F.B.B. ENTERS G.A.I.S.F..
Formalities done at the 1970 Belgrade Congress opened doors for the new I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) sport federation to enter G.A.I.S.F. (General Association of International Sports Federations). As after Belgrade Congress the owner of the I.F.B.B. commercial company and the „I.F.B.B. life President“ BEN WEIDER told „it was done due to the efforts of OSCAR STATE“. „OSCAR STATE, who was instrumental in the I.F.B.B.’s recognition in 1971 by the General Association of International Sports Federations, G.A.I.S.F.”. In 1971 during the second I.F.B.B. Congress in Paris (France) public was informed about the I.F.B.B. membership in the G.A.I.S.F.. It happened at the 1971 G.A.I.S.F. Congress in Viena (Austria). Today is evident – it was the basic happening that for the next several decades changed the face of the official World‘s bodybuilding sport. I.F.B.B. left totally behind all other International Bodybuilding Organizations.
According the G.A.I.S.F. rules one kind of sport can be represented only by one International federation. All other International Bodybuilding Organizations lost their chances to represent official bodybuilding sport at International level as well as on the National too. The official doors were closed for A.A.U. (Amateur Athletes Union), N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association), W.B.B.G. (World Body Building Guild) and other units. It was a tragedy for all of them.
All were waithig World‘s main bodybuilding leader BOB HOFFMAN to protest and somehow stop I.F.B.B. membership in G.A.I.S.F.. And when BOB HOFFMAN did nothing OSCAR NEIDENSTAM said „it was a terrible mistake..“. Step by step I.F.B.B. got recognition and pushed away all other bodybuilding organizations from official sport.
Ideologies of BOB HOFFMAN and BEN WEIDER were the same. It was their presonal ego, sport and business together. BEN WEIDER was more energetic and this was the reason he was over BOB HOFFMAN. As OSCAR HEIDENSTAM said „BEN WEIDER was more agressive in publishing and selling magazines“. BOB HOFFMAN was also unhappy. He said: “Weiders who for many years had been “publishing pornographic magazines” were only interested in money... they want to use G.A.I.S.F. for their business”. Fifty years being on top of World’s bodybuilding BOB HOFFMAN had to step away.

ALEKSEJ FILATOV (Алексей Филатов) is the Leader of the Power Sports of the Estonian Republic. He is an International Judge, the President of the National W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) federation of Estonia. During his life he organized many International Events. Among them the 2015 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. Europe Championship and „Universe“ contest in Tallinn, the 2024 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. „World Grand Prix“ and 16-th „Georg Tenno Momorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 2024) in Parnu. For active International social work on May 13, 2024 in the Parliament Republic Lithuania ALEKSEJ FILATOV was awarded with the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. „Honour Silver Medal“ («Международная серебряная медаль почёта»).

ANALYSING TOPIC WE START WITH I.F.B.B..
During the years there were lots of tales told about I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). Still many people believe those tales... During the last thirty years we were writing about the I.F.B.B. many times. Now working on the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма») we will discuss the I.F.B.B. again. There were many discussions about ther I.F.B.B. before. The image of I.F.B.B. was finally ruined after the second split of the I.F.B.B. in 2008 - 2009 (third I.F.B.B. split happened in 2015 - 2016). Then a fierce war started between the new I.F.B.B. President RAFAEL SANTONJA (Spain) on the one side and the I.F.B.B. lower and financist ALEX BAUER (Austria) and PAUL CHUA (Singapore) on the other side. There was a court trial in London (UK) which RAFAEL SANTONJA lost. You still can see how I.F.B.B. documents show it‘s pompastic low image. The tales were finally stopped when the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA sent to the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS nearly 600 I.F.B.B. documents (over 2 000 pages totally) and asked to publish them on our International Page www.wff.lt . It was done then. Now basing on the I.F.B.B. documents slowly step by step we will cover I.F.B.B. topic again.
WORLD BODYBUILDING ENCYCLOPEDIA.
1989. I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, PARIS.
During all bodybuilding history the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship was one uncomparibable event. During the years only two International bodybuilding events were of so high level. It was the famous of sexual scandals 2004 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Moscow (Russian Federation) and the 2011 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) World Championship in Viena (Austria). During the eighties of the last Century the International W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) ruling structure was like this: President RENAUT ROBINET and General Secretary AKLI CHABENI. Both mentioned persons together with formal I.F.B.B. Vice President and Creator of the W.A.B.B.A. association (it was created in 1976) SERGE NUBRET were working on the 1989 W.A.B.B.A. World Championship in Paris. That time the sponsors were really very big. Some way the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited RENAUT ROBINET to his house in Canada. After this visit RENAUT ROBINET declared that he is leaving W.A.B.B.A. and starts working with the I.F.B.B.. As all preliminary work for the 1989 W.A.B.B.A. World Championship was done RENAUT ROBINET announced that he is organizing the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris instead of W.A.B.B.A. now. This action of RENAUT ROBINET made awfull strike on SERGE NUBRET and he never reached the previous W.A.B.B.A. level again. After the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris RENAUT ROBINET got no preferences from BEN WEIDER. So he left I.F.B.B. and never appeared in bodybuilding again and was forgotten for ever. Through the years is evident that no International Bodybuilding Organizations around the World ever made any other bodybuilding contest which is worth to notice. Nothing to compare.
Those bodybuilders of the Lithuanian SSR who neglected the orders of the Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K.) were included to the U.S.S.R. Team and participated at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris. They were not successfull at the competition as all U.S.S.R. team too.
The Chairmen of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were angry about Lithuanian aims to get independant I.F.B.B. membership. They did not include the Vice Chairman of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS to the U.S.S.R. delegation to go to Paris again.
During the 1989 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») in Leningrad DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited as a Personal Guest of BEN WEIDER to the World Championship in Paris. Their common correspondance went on and BEN WEIDER let DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS take any member of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Lithusnisn SSR together with him to Paris. Thinking of support about the membership in the I.F.B.B. federation DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS with him. Both Lithuanians came to France separate from the U.S.S.R. delegation. Later DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS regreted about his decission. During several meetings with the emigrants of the old 1918 Lithuanian Republic ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude towards independance of Lithuania.
Delegations of various countries lived in the famous Paris „La Fayette“ hotel. The contest was also organized at a huge „La Fayette“ Palace. Just before the I.F.B.B. World Championship BEN WEIDER invited Lithuanians to his appartments in „La Fayette“ penthouse. The Assistant of BEN WEIDER PAMELA KAGAN (Canada) was also present at the discussion then. The discussion lasted very long. With BEN WEIDER spoke DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not knew languages and even did not understand what both were speking about. Finally another assistant of BEN WEIDER RAFAEL SANTONJA entered the room and said that BEN WEIDER is needed down at the contest as the competitions are nearly to finish and it is high time to present award to the Over All World Champion. BEN WEIDER and DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS agreed to go on discussing matters via later correspondance.
The 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship Category Winners were ACHMED MOHMED (Egypt), VAN VALCOT SMITH (USA), BERNARD SEALY (Barbados) FRANK HILEBRAND (West Germany), JEAN LUC FAVRE (Switzerland).
There was a banquet in „La Fayette“ after the competition. BEN WEIDER sat DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS close to him and presented him to the Heads of the delegations of various countries. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got many new International contacts. Being drunk at the banquet ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS decided to „fight for Lithuanian Independance“ and quarreled with Vice Chairman of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Fdereation“ VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин). He accused VLADIMIR DUBININ about not taking him to I.F.B.B. Events in Australia (1988) and France (1989). It was DSc. As we were writing before the second book of the “World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia” (“Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija”, «Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма») will cover the time from 1973 until 1991. In 1973 bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and all Socialist countries. In 1991 the U.S.S.R. and Socialist World was ruined. The events in the Encyclopedia are revued by years. JURIJ STEPANOV.
We are presenting World Bodybuilding History Exceprional Persons. JURIJ STEPANOV (Юрий Степанов, Klaipeda, Lithuanian Republic) came to bodybuilding sport in 1974. Then bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and all Socialist countries. He participated at the competitions several times. Best result of JURIJ STEPANOV was the second place at the 2005 Senior Europe Championship. JURIJ STEPANOV is still in sport. Having the International Judges Category he still judges at International contests.
In 2024 JURIJ STEPANOV was awarded with the International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. „Honour Silver Medal“ (Международная серебряная медаль почёта»).

WHO IN U.S.S.R. COULD THINK ON INTERNATIONAL LEVEL?
ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN LIFE AND SPORT.
Everyone‘s personality depends on many items. One of them is – basing on which position a personality analizes all happenings. We mean bodybuilders, of course. Do you think of this as a sportsman, as a trainer or organizer or you think as an International Leader? Specialists of our sport scrutinize the same documents and the same basics but everybody of them evaluate the same items on a different way. Then we may look if this specialist is of a local level or he represents the International one. The specialist must get himself above the happenings of his time and he must look on everything like a flying bird high in the sky. Otherwise he can not understand waht is going on.
In the U.S.S.R. there were only few personalities who could think wide in the very beginning of bodybuilding. The representatives of various regions of the U.S.S.R. mostly were thinking in a narrow way. For example, Tiumen gym trainer JEVGENIJ KOLTUN (Евгений Колтун, R.S.F.S.R.) always represented a gym level and nothing more. The same was with a Kaliningrad trainer JURIJ SMOLIAKOV (Юрий Смоляков, R.S.F.S.R.) and with a Severodvinsk trainer the U.S.S.R. Champion ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов, R.S.F.S.R.). The same was with a Leningrad gym trainer VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин, R.S.F.S.R.). A representative of Riga (Latvian SSR) FELIKS SAJKOVSKIJ (Феликс Сайковский) and nearly all representatives of the Lithuanian SSR were on the same local level of understanding. There were no more active bodybuilding organizers in the U.S.S.R. at that time but only those we mentioned only. The exception could be the General Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (Романас Калинаускас). How we can understand this „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ when bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. is prohibited? It had totally no power. But unfortunatelly all activities of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS were done through intrigues and blackmailing of his sport friends to the Communist political powers. Knowing no foreign languages ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was separated from the World and could not understand the International process. Another exceptional person was INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002, Tallinn, Estonian SSR). He also did not know any foreign language and worked only in Estonia. Even to do anything on the U.S.S.R. level he had no interest. Finally received from the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport a negatyve answer DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a bodybuilding defending petition and personally brought it to Moscow. He presented the petition to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers: to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»). In 1978 due to the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the U.S.S.R. political powers gave him permition to organize „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR).
Leaders do not like a stable life. A Leader of any kind has courage and resposibility. Leaders always seek the result end never doubt if they will not succeed. At the same time the majority does nothing. They sit in silence. So who was the bodybuilding Leader in the U.S.S.R.? The very similar to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS life was of his friends in sport: the President I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, also the similar way of life was of the President N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. The same similar way was of the General Secretary F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) International OSCAR STATE.
Not knowing foreign languages narrowed possibilities of INNAR MARDO, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS assisted and helped him always. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not know any foreign language and he always worked to be close to the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport. To say more he did his best to be close to the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation (Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.). That were his top items for respect and loyality. But what he could get out of this when bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.? Just nothing.
While studying English and German philology at the Vilnius State University DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did several attempts to unite gyms of Vilnius City. Nobody else never tried to do this. Anyway bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and bodybuilders were afraid to do anything.

RISARD KRINICKIJ.
A former Deputy Director of the State Control Committee of the Republic Lithuania (Комитет государственного контроля Литовской Республики) and a representative of famous „Vilnius Bodybuilding School“ («Вильнюсская школа культуризма») RISARD KRINICKIJ (Ришард Криницикй, 1949 - 2015) since 1972 until 1976 participated at ten bodybuilding competitions. At that time bodybuilding was prohibited and prosecuted in the U.S.S.R. and other Socialist Countries. Best results of RISARD KRINICKIJ were the Over All Winners Titles at the 1975 and 1976 historic „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024, Klaipeda, Republic Lithuania) and in 1972 and 1976 at the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 2024, Tallinn, Republic Estonia). Also he won his category in 1976 at the International Contest in Kalinin (R.S.F.S.R., now ir is City Tver). RISARD KRINICKIJ was one of the organizers of the 1996 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. 1990 I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MALAYSIA.
In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding was tightly connected with the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). In 1990 I.F.B.B. federation was celebrating it‘s 20 years anyversary (I.F.B.B. was created by the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in 1970 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Most all sports athletes of Lithuania did not participe at the official U.S.S.R. Championships and the U.S.S.R. National Teams under request of the National Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Литовской ССР). But not all bodybuilders followed this N.O.C. request. In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilders participated at the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia). As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited to Malaysia as a personal quest of the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER. As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could take any Lithuanian SSR represitative to accompany him. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS with him as in 1989 Vice President «U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation» («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude in Paris. Representatives of the Lithuanian SSR went to Malaysia separate of the U.S.S.R. National Team.
One hundred bodybuilders participated at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship. The contest was very pompastic. For organization of the contest was done huge work of the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). As USA sport specialist BOB GOLDMAN explained, the Malaysia Prime Minister MOHAMAD MAHATHIR gave 3.400 million USA dollars state money for the contest. Also he was present at the competition too. World Championship Category Winners were: EL AMAWY (Egypt), JOSEF DAWSON (USA), WILHELM JASINOWSKI (Germany), ALQ GURLAY (USA), AHIM ALBRECHT (Germany).
1990 I.F.B.B. „MISS OLYMPIA“, NEW YORK.
After 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Malaysia in order to continue the dialogue with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited him as his personal quest to 1990 I.F.B.B. professional „Miss Olympia“ in New York (USA). That was already the 11-th I.F.B.B. Pro „Miss Olympia“ competition. Many top Professional women bodybuilders left the sport as the new „huge muscle“ generation came on Professional stage. Big muscle road started with LENDA MURRAY. Again as it was at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) and as it was at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) BEN WEIDER agreed that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for negotiations will take one more representative of the Lithuanian Republic. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took together the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024) and Category Winner of the 1988 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») Champion SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. 1990 „Miss Olympia“ was held at the New York „Beacon Theatre“.
The negotiations about Lithuania entering the I.F.B.B. separate from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were held in New York „Hemsley“ hotel. The I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER informed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS about this decission to folow the rules of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ and not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. steping ove the U.S.S.R..
The places at the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ were as it is: first Lenda Murray (USA), second Bev Francis (Australia), third Anja Schreiner (Germany), fourth Laura Creavalle (USA), fifth Jackie Paisley (USA), sixth Sharon Arrildt (USA).
1990. W.B.F.. VINCE MAC MAHON.
In 1990 there was a big crisis in the I.F.B.B.. I.F.B.B. had no „federation patriots“. Nearly all I.F.B.B. professionals left I.F.B.B.. very active in the new W.B.F. (World Bodybuilding Federation“) were TOM PLATZ and LOU FERRIGNO. Also there were somehow DANNY PADILLA and TONY PEARSON. Famous Pro bodybuildewrs entered newly done federation W.B.F. which was created by American VINCE MAC MAHON. VINCE MAC MAHON made no secret – he wanted to make business of it. In order to collect best professional bodybuilders he declared an uncomparibably very big prize money for bodybuilders. „Joe Weider‘s Olympia“ could not compete with VINCE MAC MAHON‘s prize money. The biggest success was for GARY STRYDOM. He took 275 000 USA dollars then. He got real money. It was not like it is now – they declare big prize money at Pro contests and athletes receive nothing at all. It is a very good way to fool athlets. It was the first time in the history of the U.S.S.R. to hold European Bodybuilding Championship. It was done in 1990 in Leningrad (R.S.F.S.R.). There were two important happenings around the1990 „Amber Prix International“ (Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024). The first one was since 1988 lasting negotiations of the Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. federation separately from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). Then the process was led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The second one was big wish of the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B.. This was the reason that together with the 1990 „Amber Prix International“ the „U.S.S.R. Junior Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму среди молодёжи») was held in Klaipeda (Lithuanian Republic). At the contest participated 62 bodybuilders of the National Teams of the folowing countries: R.S.F.S.R., Ukraine SSR, belorussian SSR, Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, Kazachstan SSR, Georgian SSR. D.D.R. BODYBUILDERS WANT TO RUIN BLOCKADE.
Socialist Republic of Lithuania was a part of the U.S.S.R. for several decades. On March 11, 1990 Lithuanian Republic restored it‘s independance. In April, 1990 the U.S.S.R. started economic blockade to young Lithuanian Republic. The blockade lasted 75 days. Most goods could not reach the Country. Especially gasoline and oil products.
Communicating with representatives of various countries DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was explaining to them the political situation of Lithuania.
Aiming to stop the blockade bodybuilders of the D.D.R. (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, G.D.R., German Democratic Republic, Г.Д.Р., Германская Демократическая Республика) sent DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS a number of telegrammes and offered help for the Lithuanian Republic. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS connected with the Government of the republic Lithuania and spoke with the Prime Minister KAZIMIERA PRUNSKIENE. The Prime Minister said „lithuania needs no help. We will manage to solve the problem ourselves“.
1990. U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDERS VISITED USA.
In 1990 the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders visited USA. A number of theatric show competitions were organized for them. The event was paid by BILLY PAX. At the same days of the visit the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ was held in New York. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met the representatives of the U.S.S.R. at one of Manhattan‘s hotels. That were R.S.F.R.S. athletes VELIKOIVANENKO BORIS (Борис Великоиваненко), FATEJEV GRIGORIJ (Григорий Фатеев), JASINOVSKI NIKOLAJ (Николай Ясиновский), IVANIUK ALEKSANDR (Александр Иванюк), bodybuilder of the Lithuanian Republic GORELIK EUGENE (Евгений Горелик), sportsmen of the Belorussian SSR SKARUB VLADIMIR (Владимир Шкарубо), ALEKSANDROVIC VLADIMIR (Владимир Александрович), BOGDANOVIC VALERIJ (Валерий Богданович), GRISANOV NIKOLAJ (Николай Гришанов) and bodybuilders of the Estonian SSR UIT INA (Инна Уйт), PAAVO AIN (Айн Пааво).
1990 SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
There were comparitivelly many bodybuilding contests in the Socialist countries in 1990. As the end of the USSR and the Socualist system was closer most bodybuilders lived in their dreames and tried to reach the „Western“ competitions. They could do it only being among the National Team of the USSR. As they were not among the national teams that was the reason that most bodybuilders had to participate at the International Contests in the Socialist countries. In 1990 bodybuilders of Klaipeda bodybuilding federation participated at the competitions in Oradea (Romanian SSR), berlin („Berliner Bar“, GDR, German Democratic republic), Marjanke Lazne and Ruzomberok (Czechoslovakian SSR, „Sandow“, „Trener“, „Diana“).
1990. MAGAZINES OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS SPREAD THROUGH THE WORLD.
Bodybuilding was popular sport then. Athletes needed methodical knowlidge. Since DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started his bodybuilding way in 1969 he translated articles from books ang magazines. The books were a seldom happening as the „Iron Wal“ did not alow it. This way the first magazine „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ („Arnoldas Švarcenegeris rekomenduoja“ «Арнольд Шварценеггер рекомендует») was printed and spread in 2 000 000 issues. Several decades it was the „ABC“ for several generations. This kind of popularity has no other bodybuilding magazine in the World. After „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ other magazines were printed and successfully distrubuted: „Training Programmes of World‘s Best Bodybuilders“ («Системы упражнений лучших культуристов мира», „Geriausių pasaulio kultūristų pratimų sistemos“), „Bodybuilder“ («Культурист», „Kultūristas“), „Bodybuilding Stars Recommends“ („Kultūrizmo žvaigždės rekomenduoja“, «Звёзды культуризма рекомендуют») and other magazines. Totaly 37 magazines.
Best and short words abou the magazines of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were said by a famous Russian bodybuilder VALERIJ LOKTIONOV: „then the only one source of bodybuilding materials were magazines from Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) and I did my best to get them. That was really the GOLD TIME OF BODYBUILDING“. All bodybuilders used to copy the sport movement in Baltic countries.

1990 U.S.S.R. ECONOMIC BLOCKADE TO LITHUANIA.
D.D.R. BODYBUILDERS WANT TO RUIN BLOCKADE.
ECONOMIC BLOCKADE
Socialist Republic of Lithuania was a part of the U.S.S.R. for several decades. On March 11, 1990 Lithuanian Republic restored it‘s Independence. In April, 1990 the U.S.S.R. started economic blockade to young Lithuanian Republic. The blockade lasted 75 days. Most goods could not reach the Country. Especially gasoline and oil products.
THE BEGINNING.
Representing Lithuanian bodybuilding DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS during the „gorbaciov perestrojka“ was the only one among the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders who was skilled in several foreign languages. Meeting representatives of various countries DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke with them about the political situation in the Lithuanian Republic. Among them were representatives of the German Democratic Republic (G.D.R., Г.Д.Р., Германская Демократическая Республика, D.D.R., Deutsche Demokratische Republik) too. That were the Germans: Jurgen Madaj, Otto Rudiger, Peter Bajerowicz, Joachim Hennig, Peter Butze.
EAST GERMAN BODYBUILDERS OFFERED THEIR HELP TO LITHUANIA.
A number of G.D.R. bodybuilders were great businessmen. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS told them about the economic blockade. The Geramns collected information and evaluated their possibilities. In May, 1990 they offered DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to address the Government of the Lithuanian Republic. Aiming to stop the blockade bodybuilders of the D.D.R. bodybuilders sent DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS a number of telegrammes and offered help for the Lithuanian Republic. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS connected with the Government of the Republic Lithuania and spoke with the Prime Minister KAZIMIERA PRUNSKIENE. The Prime Minister said „Lithuania needs no help. We will manage to solve the problem ourselves“. That was the end of the G.D.R. support to Lithuania. On Octeber 3, 1990 G.D.R. was ruined and joined the F.R.G. (Federal Republic of Germany)
VYTAUTAS LANDSBERGIS INTERESTED ABOUT HISTORY OF G.D.R. BODYBUILDERS.
Several years ago DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke with the first Leader of the Lithuanian Republic the „Patriarch“ VYTAUTAS LANDSBERGIS. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS told him the story abot the G.D.R. bodybuilders during the economic blockade. VYTAUTAS LADSBERGIS was interested very much in the happening. He asked to give him the telegrammes which were sent to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The archives of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) are really huge. Working on the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедии всемирного культуризма», „Pasaulinė kultūrizmo enciklopedija“) only now we found the G.D.R. telegrammes. This way we are close to the year of 1991. We will tell more stories about the participation of Lithuania bodybuilders in the Independence process.

1990 I.F.B.B. „MISS OLYMPIA“, NEW YORK.
After 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Malaysia in order to continue the dialogue with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited him as his personal quest to 1990 I.F.B.B. professional „Miss Olympia“ in New York (USA). That was already the 11-th I.F.B.B. Pro „Miss Olympia“ competition. Many top Professional women bodybuilders left the sport as the new „huge muscle“ generation came on Professional stage. Big muscle road started with LENDA MURRAY. Again as it was at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) and as it was at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) BEN WEIDER agreed that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for negotiations will take one more representative of the Lithuanian Republic. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took together the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024) and Category Winner of the 1988 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») Champion SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. 1990 „Miss Olympia“ was held at the New York „Beacon Theatre“.
Several years lasting negotiations about Lithuania entering the I.F.B.B. separate from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were held in New York „Hemsley“ hotel. The I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER informed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS about this decission to folow the rules of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ and not to allow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. steping over the U.S.S.R.. BEN WEIDER was on the U.S.S.R. side and did not support the Independence of the Lithuanian Republic.
The places at the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ were as it is: first Lenda Murray (USA), second Bev Francis (Australia), third Anja Schreiner (Germany), fourth Laura Creavalle (USA), fifth Jackie Paisley (USA), sixth Sharon Arrildt (USA).

1990. VINCE MAC MAHON‘S W.B.F..
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.
In 1990 there was a big crisis in the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). I.F.B.B. had no „federation patriots“. Many famous I.F.B.B. professionals left the I.F.B.B.. Very active in the newly created W.B.F. (World Bodybuilding Federation“) were I.F.B.B. Pros TOM PLATZ, DANNY PADILLA, TONY PEARSON and LOU FERRIGNO. Famous Pro bodybuilders entered newly done federation W.B.F. which was created by American VINCE MAC MAHON. VINCE MAC MAHON made no secret – he wanted to make business of it. At the same time VINCE MAC MAHON was the owner of the World Wrestling Federation (W.W.F., now W.W.E.).
In order to collect best professional bodybuilders he declared an uncomparibably very big prize money for bodybuilders and a year contracts of 100 000 US dollars. „Joe Weider‘s Olympia“ could not compete with VINCE MAC MAHON‘s prize money. The biggest success was for GARY STRYDOM. He took 275 000 USA dollars twice then. He got real money. It was not like it is now – they declare big prize money at Pro contests and athletes receive nothing at all. It is a very good way to fool athlets. Do You know at least one Pro bodybuilder who became rich by winning prize money at contests? We mean real prize money, not of selling „supplements“, narcotics or selling even themselves...
TOM PLATZ and VINCE MAC MAHON attended the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Mr. Olympia“ contest and presented the new organization for bodybuilders. They said that they are forming the World Bodybuilding Federation as a direct competitor to the I.F.B.B. and proclaimed that they plan to "kick the I.F.B.B.'s ass". They declared that the 1991 W.B.F. Championship would be held at the “Trump Taj Mahal “Palace in Atlantic City.
W.B.F. organization signed long - term contracts with a number of I.F.B.B. regulars to join its roster, with annual salaries as high as $400,000.
The W.B.F. held its Inaugural Championship in 1991, as a pay – per - view (P.P.V.) event in Atlantic City.
The second W.B.F. Championship was held in Long Beach in1992.
Due to steroid scandal impacting the W.W.F., the W.B.F. introduced drug testing in 1992. 1990 I.F.B.B. “Mr. Olympia” performed drug testing too but in 1991 stopped it. They did not want to joke with it. Due to drug testing W.B.F. bodybuilders were out of shape and many left the W.B.F..
The 1992 W.B.F. Championship P.P.V. was a commercial failure. After this VINCE MAC MAHON phoned WEIDER brothers to inform them that the W.B.F. would be dissolved. WEIDER’s agreed to allow the W.B.F. members to rejoin the I.F.B.B. organization after paying 25 000 US dollars fine.
South African bodybuilder GARY STRYDOM would be the first and only W.B.F. champion, winning the 1991 event and successfully defending his title in 1992.

1990 I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MALAYSIA.
In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding was tightly connected with the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). In 1990 I.F.B.B. federation was celebrating it‘s 20 years anyversary (I.F.B.B. was created by the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in 1970 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Most all sports athletes of Lithuania did not participe at the official U.S.S.R. Championships and the U.S.S.R. National Teams under request of the National Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Литовской ССР). But not all bodybuilders followed this N.O.C. request. In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilders participated at the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia). As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited to Malaysia as a personal quest of the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER. As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could take any Lithuanian SSR represitative to accompany him. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS with him as in 1989 Vice President «U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation» («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude in Paris. Representatives of the Lithuanian SSR went to Malaysia separate of the U.S.S.R. National Team.
One hundred bodybuilders participated at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship. The contest was very pompastic. For organization of the contest was done huge work of the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). As USA sport specialist BOB GOLDMAN explained, the Malaysia Prime Minister MOHAMAD MAHATHIR gave 3.400 million USA dollars state money for the contest. Also he was present at the competition too.

Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites 140 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader.
Crowning it‘s 50 years of International Bodybuilding activities, the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. works on the Unique Global International Bodybuilding Project - the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма», “Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija”).

DIRTY BODYBUILDING IN ESTONIA.
INNAR MARDO (1946-2002; Inaras Mardo, Иннар Мардо) was the most important Estonia bodybuilding persons ever. Several days we were studying the thirty years lasting correspondence between the President of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) and National President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. Estonia INNAR MARDO. INNAR MARDO was and still is the unique historical Estonia bodybuilding leader and the real soul of bodybuilding in Estonia. Twenty years ago INNAR MARDO presented to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS historical documents on the Estonia International contest „Georg Tenno Memorial“ („Georgo Tenno Memorialas“, «Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 2024).
HAVING A WISH DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN DO IT.
Multiple letters of INNAR MARDO tell us about many unknown and forgotten facts and stories. We are surprised of the inner powewr of INNAR MARDO when his bodybuilders betrayed him and when many Estonian organizers treated him very badly. The reason is clear – they envyed him and his talent so much. We would like to underline that for several years best bodybuilders of the U.S.S.R. and Socialist countries were pupils of INNAR MARDO Estonians OLEV ANNUS and INDREK OTSUS. Both bodybuilders were winners of the most important International U.S.S.R. competitions – the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», is still running, 1968 - 2024) and the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ (organized in 1971-2024). Also under the guidance of INNAR MARDO both bodybuilders won several International competitions in various Socialist countries.

In some cases the enemies of INNAR MARDO were successful and INNAR MARDO had to leave the National Estonia bodybuilding federation. By the way, Lithuanians were not very happy of the strong Estonia bodybuilding and helped the enemies of INNAR MARDO in their dirty works. The Lithuanians were led by ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS and some official from Kaunas city. Especially big fight against INNAR MARDO was after the tenth „Georg Tenno Memorial“ But after this no one Estonia bodybuilding organizer ever reached the highness of the work done by INNAR MARDO. The level and inside power was very low of them.
In the “World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia” year after year we will speak about the activities of those above mentioned “heroes”. It is a pity that at the end of his life INNAR MARDO had no enough power to reach the previous hights of the glory of Estonia bodybuilding. The glory that was created by him – INNAR MARDO.

1990 I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MALAYSIA.
In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding was tightly connected with the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). In 1990 I.F.B.B. federation was celebrating it‘s 20 years anyversary (I.F.B.B. was created by the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in 1970 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Most all sports athletes of Lithuania did not participe at the official U.S.S.R. Championships and the U.S.S.R. National Teams under request of the National Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Литовской ССР). But not all bodybuilders followed this N.O.C. request. In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilders participated at the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia). As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited to Malaysia as a personal quest of the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER. As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could take any Lithuanian SSR represitative to accompany him. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS with him as in 1989 Vice President «U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation» («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude in Paris. Representatives of the Lithuanian SSR went to Malaysia separate of the U.S.S.R. National Team.
One hundred bodybuilders participated at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship. The contest was very pompastic. For organization of the contest was done huge work of the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). As USA sport specialist BOB GOLDMAN explained, the Malaysia Prime Minister MOHAMAD MAHATHIR gave 3.400 million USA dollars state money for the contest. Also he was present at the competition too. World Championship Category Winners were: EL AMAWY (Egypt), JOSEF DAWSON (USA), WILHELM JASINOWSKI (Germany), ALQ GURLAY (USA), AHIM ALBRECHT (Germany).
1990 I.F.B.B. „MISS OLYMPIA“, NEW YORK.
After 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Malaysia in order to continue the dialogue with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited him as his personal quest to 1990 I.F.B.B. professional „Miss Olympia“ in New York (USA). That was already the 11-th I.F.B.B. Pro „Miss Olympia“ competition. Many top Professional women bodybuilders left the sport as the new „huge muscle“ generation came on Professional stage. Big muscle road started with LENDA MURRAY. Again as it was at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) and as it was at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) BEN WEIDER agreed that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for negotiations will take one more representative of the Lithuanian Republic. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took together the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024) and Category Winner of the 1988 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») Champion SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. 1990 „Miss Olympia“ was held at the New York „Beacon Theatre“.
The negotiations about Lithuania entering the I.F.B.B. separate from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were held in New York „Hemsley“ hotel. The I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER informed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS about this decission to folow the rules of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ and not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. steping ove the U.S.S.R..
The places at the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ were as it is: first Lenda Murray (USA), second Bev Francis (Australia), third Anja Schreiner (Germany), fourth Laura Creavalle (USA), fifth Jackie Paisley (USA), sixth Sharon Arrildt (USA).
1990. W.B.F.. VINCE MAC MAHON.
In 1990 there was a big crisis in the I.F.B.B.. I.F.B.B. had no „federation patriots“. Nearly all I.F.B.B. professionals left I.F.B.B.. very active in the new W.B.F. (World Bodybuilding Federation“) were TOM PLATZ and LOU FERRIGNO. Also there were somehow DANNY PADILLA and TONY PEARSON. Famous Pro bodybuildewrs entered newly done federation W.B.F. which was created by American VINCE MAC MAHON. VINCE MAC MAHON made no secret – he wanted to make business of it. In order to collect best professional bodybuilders he declared an uncomparibably very big prize money for bodybuilders. „Joe Weider‘s Olympia“ could not compete with VINCE MAC MAHON‘s prize money. The biggest success was for GARY STRYDOM. He took 275 000 USA dollars then. He got real money. It was not like it is now – they declare big prize money at Pro contests and athletes receive nothing at all. It is a very good way to fool athlets. There were two important happenings around the1990 „Amber Prix International“ (Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024). The first one was since 1988 lasting negotiations of the Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. federation separately from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). Then the process was led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The second one was big wish of the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B.. This was the reason that together with the 1990 „Amber Prix International“ the „U.S.S.R. Junior Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму среди молодёжи») was held in Klaipeda (Lithuanian Republic). At the contest participated 62 bodybuilders of the National Teams of the folowing countries: R.S.F.S.R., Ukraine SSR, belorussian SSR, Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, Kazachstan SSR, Georgian SSR. The Category Winners were: Juniors - SLIVKO SERGEJ (Сливко Сергей, Ukraine SSR), JAKOVLEV PAVEL (Яковлев Павел, R.S.F.S.R.), SOLODKOV KIRIL (Солодков Кирилл, R.S.F.S.R.), KABANOVSKIJ DENIS (Кабановский Денис, R.S.F.S.R.), GAVRILOVIC SERGEJ (Гаврилович Сергей, Belorussian SSR). 1990 U.S.S.R. ECONOMIC BLOCKADE TO LITHUANIA.
D.D.R. BODYBUILDERS WANT TO RUIN BLOCKADE.
Socialist Republic of Lithuania was a part of the U.S.S.R. for several decades. On March 11, 1990 Lithuanian Republic restored it‘s independance. In April, 1990 the U.S.S.R. started economic blockade to young Lithuanian Republic. The blockade lasted 75 days. Most goods could not reach the Country. Especially gasoline and oil products.
Communicating with representatives of various countries DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was explaining to them the political situation of Lithuania.
Aiming to stop the blockade bodybuilders of the D.D.R. (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, G.D.R., German Democratic Republic, Г.Д.Р., Германская Демократическая Республика) sent DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS a number of telegrammes and offered help for the Lithuanian Republic. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS connected with the Government of the republic Lithuania and spoke with the Prime Minister KAZIMIERA PRUNSKIENE. The Prime Minister said „lithuania needs no help. We will manage to solve the problem ourselves“.
1990. U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDERS VISITED USA.
In 1990 the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders visited USA. A number of theatric show competitions were organized for them. The event was paid by BILLY PAX. At the same days of the visit the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ was held in New York. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met the representatives of the U.S.S.R. at one of Manhattan‘s hotels. 1990 SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
There were comparitivelly many bodybuilding contests in the Socialist countries in 1990. As the end of the USSR and the Socualist system was closer most bodybuilders lived in their dreames and tried to reach the „Western“ competitions. They could do it only being among the National Team of the USSR. As they were not among the national teams that was the reason that most bodybuilders had to participate at the International Contests in the Socialist countries. In 1990 bodybuilders of Klaipeda bodybuilding federation participated at the competitions in Oradea (Romanian SSR), berlin („Berliner Bar“, GDR, German Democratic republic), Marjanke Lazne and Ruzomberok (Czechoslovakian SSR, „Sandow“, „Trener“, „Diana“).
1990. MAGAZINES OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS SPREAD THROUGH THE WORLD.
Bodybuilding was popular sport then. Athletes needed methodical knowlidge. Since DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started his bodybuilding way in 1969 he translated articles from books ang magazines. The books were a seldom happening as the „Iron Wal“ did not alow it. This way the first magazine „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ („Arnoldas Švarcenegeris rekomenduoja“ «Арнольд Шварценеггер рекомендует») was printed and spread in 2 000 000 issues. Several decades it was the „ABC“ for several generations. This kind of popularity has no other bodybuilding magazine in the World. After „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ other magazines were printed and successfully distrubuted: „Training Programmes of World‘s Best Bodybuilders“ («Системы упражнений лучших культуристов мира», „Geriausių pasaulio kultūristų pratimų sistemos“), „Bodybuilder“ («Культурист», „Kultūristas“), „Bodybuilding Stars Recommends“ („Kultūrizmo žvaigždės rekomenduoja“, «Звёзды культуризма рекомендуют») and other magazines. Totaly 37 magazines.
Best and short words abou the magazines of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were said by a famous Russian bodybuilder VALERIJ LOKTIONOV: „then the only one source of bodybuilding materials were magazines from Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) and I did my best to get them. That was really the GOLD TIME OF BODYBUILDING“. All bodybuilders used to copy the sport movement in Baltic countries.

SANTONJA RUINED I.F.B.B. IN 3 YEARS.
Starting from 1971 World‘s Official Bodybuilding Sport was guided by the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders).
In 1998 the I.O.C. (International Olympic Committee) officially refused to support the I.F.B.B.. In 2006 I.F.B.B. owners WEIDER brothers already sold all their magazines, contests and after a number of intrigues the I.F.B.B. federation was led by Spanish RAFAEL SANTONJA. In three years in the I.F.B.B. federation appeared many doping scandals, illegal financial deals and a number of I.F.B.B. bodybuilders died. This information was presented in public by the I.F.B.B. lawer ALEX BAUER (Austria) and the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). Official bodybuilding sport was in a huge problem. Under the leadership of RAFAEL SANTONJA the I.F.B.B. in scandals split two times. Official sport is dead.

President BEN WEIDER invited him as his personal quest to 1990 I.F.B.B. professional „Miss Olympia“ in New York (USA). That was already the 11-th I.F.B.B. Pro „Miss Olympia“ competition. Many top Professional women bodybuilders left the sport as the new „huge muscle“ generation came on Professional stage. Big muscle road started with LENDA MURRAY. Again as it was at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) and as it was at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) BEN WEIDER agreed that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for negotiations will take one more representative of the Lithuanian Republic. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took together the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024) and Category Winner of the 1988 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») Champion SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. 1990 „Miss Olympia“ was held at the New York „Beacon Theatre“.
The negotiations about Lithuania entering the I.F.B.B. separate from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were held in New York „Hemsley“ hotel. The I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER informed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS about this decission to folow the rules of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ and not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. steping ove the U.S.S.R..
The places at the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ were as it is: first Lenda Murray (USA), second Bev Francis (Australia), third Anja Schreiner (Germany), fourth Laura Creavalle (USA), fifth Jackie Paisley (USA), sixth Sharon Arrildt (USA).
1990. W.B.F.. VINCE MAC MAHON.
In 1990 there was a big crisis in the I.F.B.B.. I.F.B.B. had no „federation patriots“. Nearly all I.F.B.B. professionals left I.F.B.B.. very active in the new W.B.F. (World Bodybuilding Federation“) were TOM PLATZ and LOU FERRIGNO. Also there were somehow DANNY PADILLA and TONY PEARSON. Famous Pro bodybuildewrs entered newly done federation W.B.F. which was created by American VINCE MAC MAHON. VINCE MAC MAHON made no secret – he wanted to make business of it. In order to collect best professional bodybuilders he declared an uncomparibably very big prize money for bodybuilders. „Joe Weider‘s Olympia“ could not compete with VINCE MAC MAHON‘s prize money. The biggest success was for GARY STRYDOM. He took 275 000 USA dollars then. He got real money. It was not like it is now – they declare big prize money at Pro contests and athletes receive nothing at all. It is a very good way to fool athlets. It was the first time in the history of the U.S.S.R. to hold European Bodybuilding Championship. It was done in 1990 in Leningrad (R.S.F.S.R.). 1990. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
There were two important happenings around the1990 „Amber Prix International“ (Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024). The first one was since 1988 lasting negotiations of the Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. federation separately from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). Then the process was led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The second one was big wish of the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B.. This was the reason that together with the 1990 „Amber Prix International“ the „U.S.S.R. Junior Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму среди молодёжи») was held in Klaipeda (Lithuanian Republic). At the contest participated 62 bodybuilders of the National Teams of the folowing countries: R.S.F.S.R., Ukraine SSR, belorussian SSR, Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, Kazachstan SSR, Georgian SSR. The Category Winners were: Juniors - SLIVKO SERGEJ (Сливко Сергей, Ukraine SSR), JAKOVLEV PAVEL (Яковлев Павел, R.S.F.S.R.), SOLODKOV KIRIL (Солодков Кирилл, R.S.F.S.R.), KABANOVSKIJ DENIS (Кабановский Денис, R.S.F.S.R.), GAVRILOVIC SERGEJ (Гаврилович Сергей, Belorussian SSR). Over All Junior Champion was proclamed KIRIL SOLODKOV. Winners of the Men Categories were: GORELIK EUGENE (Горелик Евгений, Lithuanian Republic), BARTKEVICIUS ARVYDAS (Lithuanian Republic), ZUR OLEG (Жур Олег, Lithuanian Republic), REPSYS EDMUNDAS (Lithuanian Republic), KAZAKEVICIUS REMIGIJUS (Lithuanian Republic). Over All Winner was OLEG ZUR. First time in the history of the „Amber Prix International“ women bodybuilders participated at the contest. 1990 U.S.S.R. ECONOMIC BLOCKADE TO LITHUANIA.
D.D.R. BODYBUILDERS WANT TO RUIN BLOCKADE.
Socialist Republic of Lithuania was a part of the U.S.S.R. for several decades. On March 11, 1990 Lithuanian Republic restored it‘s independance. In April, 1990 the U.S.S.R. started economic blockade to young Lithuanian Republic. The blockade lasted 75 days. Most goods could not reach the Country. Especially gasoline and oil products.
Communicating with representatives of various countries DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was explaining to them the political situation of Lithuania.
Aiming to stop the blockade bodybuilders of the D.D.R. (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, G.D.R., German Democratic Republic, Г.Д.Р., Германская Демократическая Республика) sent DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS a number of telegrammes and offered help for the Lithuanian Republic. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS connected with the Government of the republic Lithuania and spoke with the Prime Minister KAZIMIERA PRUNSKIENE. The Prime Minister said „lithuania needs no help. We will manage to solve the problem ourselves“.
1990. U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDERS VISITED USA.
In 1990 the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders visited USA. A number of theatric show competitions were organized for them. The event was paid by BILLY PAX. At the same days of the visit the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ was held in New York. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met the representatives of the U.S.S.R. at one of Manhattan‘s hotels. That were R.S.F.R.S. athletes VELIKOIVANENKO BORIS (Борис Великоиваненко), FATEJEV GRIGORIJ (Григорий Фатеев), JASINOVSKI NIKOLAJ (Николай Ясиновский), IVANIUK ALEKSANDR (Александр Иванюк), bodybuilder of the Lithuanian Republic GORELIK EUGENE (Евгений Горелик), sportsmen of the Belorussian SSR SKARUB VLADIMIR (Владимир Шкарубо), ALEKSANDROVIC VLADIMIR (Владимир Александрович), BOGDANOVIC VALERIJ (Валерий Богданович), GRISANOV NIKOLAJ (Николай Гришанов) and bodybuilders of the Estonian SSR UIT INA (Инна Уйт), PAAVO AIN (Айн Пааво).
1990 SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
There were comparitivelly many bodybuilding contests in the Socialist countries in 1990. As the end of the USSR and the Socualist system was closer most bodybuilders lived in their dreames and tried to reach the „Western“ competitions. They could do it only being among the National Team of the USSR. As they were not among the national teams that was the reason that most bodybuilders had to participate at the International Contests in the Socialist countries. In 1990 bodybuilders of Klaipeda bodybuilding federation participated at the competitions in Oradea (Romanian SSR), berlin („Berliner Bar“, GDR, German Democratic republic), Marjanke Lazne and Ruzomberok (Czechoslovakian SSR, „Sandow“, „Trener“, „Diana“).
1990. MAGAZINES OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS SPREAD THROUGH THE WORLD.
Bodybuilding was popular sport then. Athletes needed methodical knowlidge. Since DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started his bodybuilding way in 1969 he translated articles from books ang magazines. The books were a seldom happening as the „Iron Wal“ did not alow it. This way the first magazine „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ („Arnoldas Švarcenegeris rekomenduoja“ «Арнольд Шварценеггер рекомендует») was printed and spread in 2 000 000 issues. Several decades it was the „ABC“ for several generations. This kind of popularity has no other bodybuilding magazine in the World. After „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ other magazines were printed and successfully distrubuted: „Training Programmes of World‘s Best Bodybuilders“ («Системы упражнений лучших культуристов мира», „Geriausių pasaulio kultūristų pratimų sistemos“), „Bodybuilder“ («Культурист», „Kultūristas“), „Bodybuilding Stars Recommends“ („Kultūrizmo žvaigždės rekomenduoja“, «Звёзды культуризма рекомендуют») and other magazines. Totaly 37 magazines.
Best and short words abou the magazines of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were said by a famous Russian bodybuilder VALERIJ LOKTIONOV: „then the only one source of bodybuilding materials were magazines from Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) and I did my best to get them. That was really the GOLD TIME OF BODYBUILDING“. All bodybuilders used to copy the sport movement in Baltic countries.

1990 I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MALAYSIA.
In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding was tightly connected with the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). In 1990 I.F.B.B. federation was celebrating it‘s 20 years anyversary. I.F.B.B. was created by the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in 1970 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Most all sports athletes of Lithuania did not participe at the official U.S.S.R. Championships and the U.S.S.R. National Teams under request of the National Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Литовской ССР). But not all bodybuilders followed this N.O.C. request. In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilders participated at the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia). As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited to Malaysia as a personal quest of the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER. As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could take any Lithuanian SSR represitative to accompany him. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS with him as in 1989 Vice President «U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation» («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude in Paris. Representatives of the Lithuanian SSR went to Malaysia separate of the U.S.S.R. National Team.
One hundred bodybuilders participated at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship. The contest was very pompastic. For organization of the contest was done huge work of the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). As USA sport specialist BOB GOLDMAN explained, the Malaysia Prime Minister MOHAMAD MAHATHIR gave 3.400 million USA dollars state money for the contest. Also he was present at the competition too.
