WHO IN U.S.S.R. COULD THINK ON INTERNATIONAL LEVEL?
ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN LIFE AND SPORT.
Everyone‘s personality depends on many items. One of them is – basing on which position a personality analyzes all happenings. We mean bodybuilders, of course. Do you think of this as a sportsman, as a trainer or organizer or you think as an International Leader? Specialists of our sport scrutinize the same documents and the same basics but everybody of them evaluate the same items on a different way. Then we may look if this specialist is of a local level or he represents the International one. The specialist must get himself above the happenings of his time and he must look on everything like a flying bird high in the sky. Otherwise he can not understand what is going on.
In the U.S.S.R. there were only few personalities who could think wide in the very beginning of bodybuilding. The representatives of various regions of the U.S.S.R. mostly were thinking in a narrow way. For example, Tiumen gym trainer JEVGENIJ KOLTUN (Евгений Колтун, R.S.F.S.R.) always represented a gym level and nothing more. The same was with a Kaliningrad trainer JURIJ SMOLIAKOV (Юрий Смоляков, R.S.F.S.R.) and with a Severodvinsk trainer the U.S.S.R. Champion ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов, R.S.F.S.R.). The same was with a Leningrad gym trainer VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин, R.S.F.S.R.). A representative of Riga (Latvian SSR) FELIKS SAJKOVSKIJ (Феликс Сайковский) and nearly all representatives of the Lithuanian SSR were on the same local level of understanding. There were no more active bodybuilding organizers in the U.S.S.R. at that time but only those we mentioned only. The exception could be the General Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (Романас Калинаускас). How we can understand this „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ when bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. is prohibited? It had totally no power. But unfortunatelly all activities of ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS were done through intrigues and blackmailing of his sport friends to the Communist political powers. Knowing no foreign languages ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was separated from the World and could not understand the International process. Another exceptional person was INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002, Tallinn, Estonian SSR). He also did not know any foreign language and worked only in Estonia. Even to do anything on the U.S.S.R. level he had no interest. But on regular basis organized by INNAR MARDO „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 1924, Tallinn, Estonian SSR) contests gave him a huge prestige and respect of others. One more exception was DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. During the period of bodybuilding prohibition he organized illegal „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2025, Klaipeda, Lithuanian SSR) contests in 1974, 1975, 1976 and in 1977. Wishing to defend bodybuilding sport DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for several years was in correspondence with the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R. („U.S.S.R. Goskomsport“, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.). Finally received from the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport a negatyve answer DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a bodybuilding defending petition and personally brought it to Moscow. He presented the petition to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers: to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»). In 1978 due to the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the U.S.S.R. political powers gave him permition to organize „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR).
Leaders do not like a stable life. A Leader of any kind has courage and resposibility. Leaders always seek the result end never doubt if they will not succeed. At the same time the majority does nothing. They sit in silence. So who was the bodybuilding Leader in the U.S.S.R.? The very similar to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS life was of his friends in sport: the President I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, also the similar way of life was of the President N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. The same similar way was of the General Secretary F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) International OSCAR STATE.
Not knowing foreign languages narrowed possibilities of INNAR MARDO, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS assisted and helped him always. ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS did not know any foreign language and he always worked to be close to the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport. To say more he did his best to be close to the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation (Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.). That were his top items for respect and loyality. But what he could get out of this when bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R.? Just nothing.
While studying English and German philology at the Vilnius State University DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did several attempts to unite gyms of Vilnius City. Nobody else never tried to do this. Anyway bodybuilding was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and bodybuilders were afraid to do anything.
It is easy to speak when the work is done and everything goes smoothly. But at the moment to fight agaist bodybuilding prohibition no one supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. No one. Today being already old many former U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers and bodybuilders try to „be Facebook friends“ of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Fine. But where they were at the hard times of risky fighting?
During the fifty years of his bodybuilding activities there was a number of „deputies“ and assistants of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Many wanted to take the place of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and to go on doing the same. No one succeeded.
Many disliked the stormy activities of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Especially when he succeeded in his work. And he did. Having no wish to get into the intrigues of such people DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS got into the Vilnius State University in 1979 again. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS studied law after he received the speciality of the phylology before. And again he succeeded. The same happened with INNAR MARDO. He was pressed by the people of envy and hate to leave his work and positions after the intriques in the formal Bodybuilding Federattion of the Estonian SSR. INNAR MARDO did not succeed to come back in full power again. There were several attemps but he was never back to the former normal situation. Hate and envy of his bodybuilding collegues ruined his life in sport. This information is based on the letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS.
Klaipeda bodybuilding was always a „Separate Republic“. And still is. It was in Lithuania, in the U.S.S.R. and Internationally now. It was based on the social and juridical status, on the International level - remember the World Bodybuilding Leaders whom we have mentioned above. International President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS is involved in the work of a number of International organizations which are collaborating with U.N. (United Nations) and U.N.S.E.C.O. (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Who else was in the same position? The road was long. Much work and studies were needed.
Due to his active International work DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS meets many World known persons.
In 2010 in Portugal during the Congress of the International Order of Templars (O.S.M.T.H., Ordo Supremus Militari Templi Herosolimitani) for the original ideas to unite World Religions DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS by Greek ARCHIMANDRIT CHARALAMPIJ was awarded with the „St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Silver-Gold Medal“.
In 2011 the Official Visit of the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was organized to Vatican. Listening about the Bodybuilding activities during the years of prohibition of this sport in the Socialist Countries the Vatican Congregat Perfect Cardinal J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO (Кардинал Иозеф Томко) was interested very much. Very big interest was shown to the bodybuilding defending petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and the victory that was achieved due to this. J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO positively evaluated our efforts to fight for the Bodybuilding Sport recognition and at once he named DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS as the „disident of the Communist Regime“. For this work done the Vatican Congregat Perfect Cardinal J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Original Vatican Pontific Medal (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to the International President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. Federation EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011).

In September, 2023 the Rector of the oldest Ukraine Lvov Stavropigeon University Professor DSc. JAROSLAV KMIT proposed International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) federation President, Rector of the International Sport University (I.S.U.) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to the respectful title the “2023 U.N.E.S.C.O. Ambassador of Peace”. U.N.E.S.C.O. (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) organization presented this title to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. At the same time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was awarded with the U.N.E.S.C.O. Medal and the Star.
In May, 2024 being among the delegates at the Parliament Republic Lithuania official representatives of the Republic Estonia – the U.R.K. EESTI KASAKATE UHING S.A. Colonel - General ANDREI GRITSKOV, Colonel - General VASSILI TROFIMOV, ALEKSEJ FILATOV, EVGENIA TOFFERT highly evaluated activities of International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. For the active social work the Estonians presented DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the Order of the „U.R.K. Silver Cross“.

FALL OF BODYBUILDING.
Working since 1968 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites today members from 141 Countries. Some time ago Bahrain joined the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F.. In difference to other International Bodybuilding Structures under the leadership of W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International seeks recognition of the U.N. (United Nations), I.O.C. (International Olympic Committee) and W.A.D.A. (World Anti Doping Agency). W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. knows the way to reach these goals. Under the basis of W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. the International Sport University (I.S.U.) was created in 2015. Since 2017 the I.S.U. university is an associated member of the U.N.E.S.C.O. organization which works under the U.N..
OTHER INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING ORGANIZATIONS.
We will not speak about other federations. Concerning real recognized sport their activities are of zero value. Zero... We mean real SPORT and nothing else. Every day appear some new „international federations“... They have never been in real recognized sport and they will never be there. What are the „great“ aims of these federations? Can anybody say? Why these federations live and what they want?
If You want official bodybuilding sport – there was F.I.H.C. (Fédération Internationale Haltérophile et Culturiste) which ruled official bodybuilding sport in the World. Since 1947 until 1969 due to efforts of American BOB HOFFMAN (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985) through the F.I.H.C. federation bodybuilding was an officially recognized sport and it was very close to be Olympic. Since 1971 until 1998 F.I.H.C. was replaced by the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). If You want real big not recognized not suppoerted anytime anywhere muscle battle – since 1950 You have N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association). What else a bodybuilder could dream of? Why appeared so many „mickey – mouse“ federations? Let us take as an example Lithuanian Republic. There are representatives of several „mickey – mouse“ federations. They make various festivals and they are proud of this. Where it could lead? To the festivals in other countries? Are they participanting bodybuilders or they are „singers and dancers“ of the „song and dance festivals“? What is the official status of these federations? What is official status of their festivals? Really it is not sport.
For example, let us speak of last forty years of the Independent Lithuania Republic. What are the Great Bodybuilding Names of that period? That are the only ones – I.F.B.B. Over All World Champions NATALIJA MURNIKOVIENE, ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS, ROLANDAS POCIUS and OLEG ZUR. Disaster came to this sport when twenty years ago WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN left bodybuilding. All contemporary „World Champions“ can not be compared to any of the mentioned bodybuilders. During the „Weider times“ bodybuilding was sport since 1971 until 1998. It was a recognized sport. Now – not! Sport is finished for all times. The above mentioned Lithuanian bodybuilders were representing sport and their achievements were official. Today’s I.F.B.B. “world champions” are of zero value if we speak about sport. The aim of contemporary National I.F.B.B. federation is to go on fooling Ministry of Sport of Lithuania and this way go on receiving governmental money for their activities. And their activities according the I.O.C. official statement already long ago are not sport anymore. Nobody knows the names of today’s “world champions”. Nobody even tries to know.
SHORT HISTORY OF WORLD’S OFFICIAL BODYBUILDING SPORT.
F.I.H.C. was a member of the I.O.C. and it influenced the „U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») to set the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ (Comission, «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») in 1963. The federation was set at the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.»). After 1973 bodybuilding prohibition in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries bodybuilding was prosecuted for twenty years. During this time in the „Western World“ official recognized bodybuilding sport was led by the I.F.B.B. and not recognized bodybuilding activities were ruled by N.A.B.B.A.. At the same time in the Socialist World public U.S.S.R. bodybuilding lived and survived in the Estonian SSR only through „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 2024) contest organized by INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1945 – 2002) and in the Lithuanian SSR only through the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinio prizo“ «Янтарный приз», 1968 - 2025) organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. During the prohibition years for political reasons it was not possible to set any International Bodybuilding Organization in the U.S.S.R.. Nevertheless DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS initiated official registration of „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ („Klaipėdos kultūrizmo federacija“, «Федерация культуризма г. Клайпеда»). It was registered at the governmental „Klaipeda Sport Committee“ („Kūno kultūros ir sporto komitetas“, «Комитет физкультуры и спорта г. Клайпеда»). In all the U.S.S.R bodybuilding was prohibited and at the same time in Klaipeda bodybuilding was allowed. For many years „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ was the only one officially registered bodybuilding federation in the U.S.S.R.. This was the reason that all World‘s Bodybuilding leaders were in touch and correspondence with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. That were I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER, N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) Chairman OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. In 1970 F.I.H.C. General Secretary British OSCAR STATE created the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) sport federation in Belgrade (Yugoslavia). Until 1970 I.F.B.B. was just a private commercial company, not sport federation. In 1971 again OSCAR STATE opened doors of G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) to the I.F.B.B.. This way from and after the F.I.H.C. the I.F.B.B. took ruling leadership of the International official sport of bodybuilding. International sport was in shock. Soon in the USA was organized the A.A.U. International Council to stop I.F.B.B. membership in G.A.I.S.F.. I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER was present there. He was ready to join the A.A.U. with his new I.F.B.B.. The delegates did not listen to BEN WEIDER and voted not to let him to speak.
Fall of bodybuilding sport started in 1998 when after two years trial I.O.C. refused to recognize the I.F.B.B. federation and bodybuilding sport in general. Bodybuilding was thrown out of the officially recognized sports. Seeing no future WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN sold the I.F.B.B. federation, „Olympia“ contest and all their magazines. In 2008 I.F.B.B. split. I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore) left the I.F.B.B. of RAFAEL SANTONJA. PAUL CHUA took forty Asia Countries with him. Then PAUL CHUA and the Lower and financist of I.F.B.B. ALEX BAUER published I.F.B.B. juridical and finance documents. There was a big scandal about it. PAUL CHUA and RAFAEL SANTONJA met at International Court of London (UK) where RAFAEL SANTAONJA lost the case. In 2015 I.F.B.B. split again. During N.P.C. (National Physique Committee) professional contest I.F.B.B. President RAFAEL SANTONJA was offended and left America with tears. After this he never came to America again. So after 2015 N.P.C. of JIM MANION came to International Bodybuilding Stage. Since that time because of fierce fight between RAFAEL SANTONJA and JIM MANION bodybuilding sport was finished in total. There is no sport of bodybuilding today any more. Along to this the I.F.B.B. commercial company still goes on working. Nobody is interested in sport – only money... In 2023 G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) was closed and I.F.B.B. lost it‘s last formal officiality. For many years I.F.B.B. propaganda was based only on G.A.I.S.F.. In 2023 W.A.D.A. declared stopping work with I.F.B.B..

I.F.B.B. FINANCES.
During the times of WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN the I.F.B.B. was seeking Olympic (I.O.C.) recognition. The game of money flows between the I.F.B.B. sport federation and the I.F.B.B. commercial company was active. Now this game is not needed any more when bodybuilding is no more recognized sport. The I.F.B.B. crisis of 1990 was gone when many Socialist Countries joined the I.F.B.B.. It was not an ordinary joining. Socialist Countries came with governmental money. During all history of bodybuilding Ministries of Sport of any democratic country never supported financially bodybuilding. The exception was when World‘s bodybuilding sport was led by the F.I.H.C. federation which was I.O.C. member. Another case was when the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“( «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») was set in 1987. Then bodybuilding sport got governmental recognition and governmental money. All other Socialist Countries did the same. Even now when bodybuilding is not sport any more former Socialist Countries use to finance national bodybuilding federations with governmental money. Except this - governmental money still comes to the I.F.B.B. through Asia Countries. Basic reason is that from the old F.I.H.C. times Asia bodybuilding federations are under national weightlifting federations which are I.O.C. members. Only this. There are no more sources of governmental money in the I.F.B.B.. We are sure that when National Sport Ministries will learn the truth about the I.F.B.B. the governmental financing will be stopped. During the last years on national governmental money I.F.B.B. makes comedy „world championships“, like it was in Latvia and Lithuania. Also remember big scandal about the I.F.B.B. Asia Championship in India with 5-6 Countries participating... Some time ago a big scandal was in Ukraine. The Ukraine I.F.B.B. President IGOR DELIJEV (Делиев Игорь) disappeared with five hundred thousand US dollars governmental bodybuilding support. Also let us remember big scandals with the RAFAEL SANTONJA‘s assistant Polish PAWEL FILEBORN.
COLUMBUS IS BACK.
Under the leadership of JIM MANION in 1983 some A.A.U. bodybuilders left the organization. For long years A.A.U. was supported by the USA Sport Ministry and the USA Olympic Committee. In 1983 JIM MANION set his private company N.P.C.. Until that time there was a fierce fight between I.F.B.B. and A.A.U.. In 1983 I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER and the owner of the new N.P.C. JIM MANION agreed to divide the bodybuilding world. It was like 1939 agreement between ADOLF HITLER and Communist STALIN. Amateur bodybuilding in the USA went to JIM MANION, the rest of the World went to the G.A.I.S.F. member I.F.B.B. of BEN WEIDER. Professional bodybuilding as a private commercial activity went to JOE WEIDER. He continued his private “Olympia” competition which always had nothing to do with official recognized bodybuilding sport. That was the game of WEIDER brothers. JIM MANION kept his promise and never touched any questions of his agreement with BEN WEIDER. When WEIDER brothers left bodybuilding and passed away JIM MANION changed his mind. In 2015 during a professional contest in the USA I.F.B.B. President RAFAEL SANTONJA was offended and left America forever. So aiming to finish the I.F.B.B. of RAFAEL SANTONJA now N.P.C. goes aggressively through the World.
Today the I.F.B.B. and N.P.C. make many festivals around the World. Yes, festivals, not competitions. Sport is finished and forgotten. N.P.C. play games with „Olympia“ festivals and I.F.B.B. play with „Arnold Classic“ festivals. RAFAEL SANTONJA is hiding behind the name of ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. These festivals have nothing connected with real recognized sport. We can say they are like “festivals of dancers and singers” but not sport. Fine – if bodybuilders like it. No International Official Sport Organizations see there any sport. No serious Institutions of any Country recognize them as sport. Long ago CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS came to America and used to change various worthless things to real gold with local Indians. Now the N.P.C. and I.F.B.B. festival organizers do the same. Bodybuilders are fooled. They forgot the sport and started being “singers” and “dancers”…
OUTSTANDING SOVIET BODYBUILDING THEORETICS AND PRACTICS.
Analyzing today‘s situation we can underline that the officially recognized „Socialist“ bodybuilding of eighties of the last Century was very close to the International Sport Standards and it could lead bodybuilding even to Olympics. Then bodybuilders thought, made decisions and saw real goals of the future. The movement was based on the theoretical and practical works of the leaders of famous „Vilnius Bodybuilding School“ («Вильнюсская школа культуризма», “Vilniaus kultūrizmo mokykla”) CESLAV TAMULEVIC (Чеслав Тамулевич) and VITALIJ ASOVSKIJ (Виталий Асовский). At that time contest halls were full of spectators. Now nobody goes to watch bodybuilding competitions – they are boring and not interesting. Contemporary bodybuilders can only dream about normal relations with society. Comparing with that mentioned above time even today bodybuilding is at the very primitive level. Joining the „Western“ bodybuilding „Socialist“ bodybuilding lost it‘s identity and nice future and it was eaten by „West“ organizers.
We do not say that bodybuilders are stupid. Bodybuilders do not think and do not see the essence. Look around and start thinking!

The most important happening 1987 in the Socialist World was the creation of the official recognized by the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.», «Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.») the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). The prohibition of bodybuilding ended. Earlier after the 1986 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023) several people gathered at the appartments of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) and set the plan to establish the new „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“. On August 11, 1987 active U.S.S.R. bodybuilders, trainers and organizerd gathered in Kubenka (Кубенка, Moscow Region, R.S.F.S.R.). Under the preposal of the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.») a well known R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter Olympic Champion JURIJ VLASOV (Юрий Власов) was ellected the be the Chairman of the new federation. His deputies were VASILIJ CAIKOVSKIJ (Василий Чайковский, Leningrad, R.S.F.S.R.) and ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. The Secretary was a representative of the „U.S.S.R. In 1987 „Amber Prix International“ last time served as the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ („неофициальный чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму“). It lasted since 1978. It became possible when in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote bodybuilding defending petition. Then he brought it to the highest U.S.S.R. political institutions in Moscow including the „Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party («Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.»). Representing the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ VALERIJ TAMARLAKOV was present at the 1987 „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda. At this competition Category Winners were: Juniors - ALEKSANDR CERKASOV (Александр Черкасов, R.S.F.S.R.), OLEG ZUR (Олег Жур, Lithuanian SSR), BORIS VELIKOIVANENKO (Борис Великоиваненко, R.S.F.S.R.) and the winners of the Main Categories were - VLADIMIR ALEKSANDROVIC (Владимир Александрович, belorussian SSR), VALERIJ BOGDNOVIC (Валерий Богданович, Belorussian SSR), VIKTORRAS JUCYS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS (both Lithuanian SSR). The Over All Winners were OLEG ZUR and VIKTORAS JUCYS.
By ranking the second Socialaist bodybuilding competiton was the „White Nights“ («Белые ночи») contest in Leningrad (R.S.F.S.R.). The Category Winners were: Juniors - GINTARAS KRISCIUNAS (Lithuanian SSR), ALEKSANDR CERKASOV, GOL GRIGORIJ (Григорий Гол, Ukrainian SSR). Winners of the Main Categories were: NIKOLAJ MALYSEV (Николай Малышев, R.S.F.S.R.), PAVEL KOSENKO (Павел Косенко, Estonian SSR), BORIS RAJEV (Борис Раев, R.S.F.S.R.), VIKTORAS JUCYS. The Over All winners were ALEKSANDR CERKASOV and VIKTORAS JUCYS.
Traditional „Comsomol Cup“ («Кубок комсомола», „Komjaunimo taure“) was held in Kaunas (Lithuanian SSR). Category Winners were: STANISLAV POLIAKOV (Станислав Поляков, Latvian SSR), PAVEL KOSENKO, BORIS RAJEV, ALEKSANDR VASIN (Александр Васин, R.S.F.S.R.). The Over All winner was ALEKSANDR VASIN.
Also in Kaunas first International women contest was organized in 1987. The Over All Winner was MERIKE MADAR (Estonian SSR).
In Leningrad first Couples competition was held too. The Over All Winners were INGA MISEVICIENE and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS (Lithuanian SSR).
In Ryga (Latvian SSR) was organized the „Over All Winner‘s Cup“ («Кубок абсолютных победителей»). The Over All Winner was VINCAS DUBICKAS (Lithuanian SSR).
Aso in Liepaja (Latvian SSR) an International Contest was organized too. The Over All Winners were representatives of the Lithuanian SSR: EDUARDAS RUDYS (Juniors) and VIKTORAS JUCYS (Main Categories).
In Kedainiai (Lithuanian SSR) the National Championship of the Lithuanian SSR was held. It still was of two parts – power exercises and posing.
In 1986 leader of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1976 – 2002) left sport. In 1987 for three months DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was sent for studies to Tallinn (Estonian SSR). Communicating with local bodybuilders he learned that nobody is going to organize the traditional „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 1989) Contest. Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS decided to organize this Contest himself. A famous bodybuilder of the Estonian SSR INDREK OTSUS helped with local technical matters and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS collected U.S.S.R. bodybuilders. The Category Winners were: Juniors - TOM PAUL (Estonian SSR), ALEKSANDR JEMELJANENKOV (Estonian SSR). Main Categories: NYMM IMRE (Estonian SSR), PAVEL KOSENKO, AIN PAAVO (Estonian SSR), RIMANTAS MAZIONIS (Lithuanian SSR). The Over All Winner was PAVEL KOSENKO.
Presenting bodybuilding sport in 1987 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized huge public seminar in Klaipeda. It lasted for two days. The Palace of Culture of the Klaipeda Trading Sea Port was full of people. The audience was collected through addresses in the local newspapers. Bodybuilders made a show and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS answered to the questions of the Citizen.
In 1987 „Sandow“ and „Trener“ competitons were held in the Czechoslovakian SSR. The Over All Winner at „Sandow“ Contest was PAVOL JABLONICKY (Czechoslovakian SSR). The Category Winners at the „Trener“ Contest were: ANTON SARAJ, JAN KUS (both Czechoslovakian SSR), SAULIUS MISEVICIUS and PETER MOLNAR (Hungarian SSR). 1987. BODYBUILDING SEMINAR FOR KLAIPEDA CITIZEN.
During the Soviet times bodybuilding was very popular. Life was changing. Everywhere people felt „perestrojka“ results. In 1986 representatives of the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.») organized bodybuilding trainer‘s seminar in Klaipeda. In 1987 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS decided to organize bodybuilding seminal for Klaipeda Citizen. Several days city newspaper advertized the event and invited people to the seminar. We could not get the Klaipeda Sea Port Palace free of charge and the Palace sold tickets. The Hall was full of public. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS explained to the people about bodybuilding sport, spoke about sane life and diet and answered multiple questions of the citizen. At the end there was a show of bodybuilders whom DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was training. Legendary „U.S.S.R. Over All Champion“ («Мистер Абсолютус С.С.С.Р.») VIKTORAS JUCYS was among them.

1986. BUILDING NEW „U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING FEDERATION“.
It comes more freedom in 1986. Bodybuilding is more popular. Many people are somehow connected and involved in bodybuilding. The time comes closer when in 1987 the recognized by the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р., Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federattion“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») is established.
The prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding in socialist Countries became formal. In 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) dared to write bodybuilding defending petition. He personally brought it to Moscow and presenetd to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) as well as to other highest U.S.S.R. political institutuins. No one of Socialist bodybuilders supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS then. All were afrayed. After this the prosecution of bodybuilders became softer and softer every year.
During the last years it was VLADIMIR SUBOV (Владимир Шубов) who represented the R.S.F.S.R. at the International Contests in Lithuanian SSR and Estonian SSR. He was in constant contacts with the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“. To keep the contacts on he rented a room at the Headquarters of the Ministry.
In 1986 on the occasion of the 27-th „Congress of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party“ a big festival was organized in Moscow. Bodybuildires of the R.S.F.S.R. and Lithuanian SSR took part at the event.
In 1986 the creator and President of the W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) SERGE NUBRET sent a letter to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Why to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS? The reason - since 1977 until 1987 „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ was the only one officially recognized bodybuilding federation in the U.S.S.R.. All other units had no status of a „federation“ and they were not recognized. The letter included huge correspondence of SERGE NUBRET and the President of the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER. SERGE NUBRET asked to publish the materials. But DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not do it until now as the materials included many extremelly personal intimate matters of BEN WEIDER.
1986. BUILDING NEW „U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING FEDERATION“.
After the 1986 „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS collected in his appartments most influental bodybuilding persons of the R.S.F.S.R.. That were VLADIMIR SUBOV (Moscow) and VLADIMIR DUBININ (Leningrad). In 1986 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS after twelve years pause brought back to sport VLADIMIR DUBININ (Leningrad). Being unsatisfied with the work of the formal U.S.S.R. bodybuilding leaders DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke to all personts about the necessity to build a new „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wanted a federation which is recognized by the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ and he wanted bodybuilding being recognized as the official sport too (detailed articles in various languages are on International Site www.wff.lt ).
1986. FIRST IN SPORT HISTORY OFFICIAL BODYBUILDING SEMINAR.
Traditionally the „Amber Prix International“ was the most important U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Contest. Since 1978 until 1987 it was an „unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championahip“ («Неофициальный чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). The „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ recognized this fact. In 1986 delegates of the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ came to visit the „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda. There were several representatives of the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ among them. During the competition they organized the first in the official sport history bodybuilding seminar. It was held in a cinema of Klaipeda. After the seminar all attendants were examened and after this they received the „U.S.S.R. Trainer‘s Certificates“ («Удостоверение тренера С.С.С.Р.»).
1986. INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS OF SOCIALIST WORLD.
At the 1986 „Amber Prix International“ participated 87 bodybuilders from Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, Estonian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Belorussian SSR and Ukrainian SSR. The Category Winners were: Juniors – OLEG ZUR (Олег Жур, Lithuanian SSR), BORIS VELIKOIVANENKO (Борис Великоиваненко, R.S.F.S.R.), SERGEJ SAMOTIN (Сергей Самотин, both R.S.F.S.R.). Winners of the main categories were: RAIMUNDAS PETRAITIS (Lithuanian SSR), VALERIJ BOGDANOVIC, GEORGIJ JUDENKOV (Валерий Богданович, Георгий Юденков, both Belorussian SSR) and ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS (Lithuanian SSR). The Over All Winners were: OLEG ZUR and ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS.
Next by the rank of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Competitons was the Estonian SSR „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Еенно», 1971 – 1989). In 1986 it was not organized as INNAR MARDO left bodybuilding activities.
During the last several years ARKADIJ KASANSKIJ used to organize Competitions in Charkov City (Ukrainian SSR). In 1986 he held two Contests. At the first of them participated 98 bodybuilders from Ukrainian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, latvian SSR and R.S.F.S.R.. Over all Winners were OLEG SAVIC (Олег Савич, R.S.F.S.R., juniors) and ALEKSANDR VASIN (Александр Васин R.S.F.S.R., Main Categories). Another Contest was the second „Cup of Over All Winners“ («2-ой Кубок абсолютных чемпионов»). There were 9 participants from Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, latvian SSR, R.S.F.S.R. and Ukrainian SSR. The Winners were: VINCAS DUBICKAS (First Place, Lithuanian SSR), PAVEL KOSENKO (Павел Косенко, Second Place, Estonian SSR), ALGIRDAS IVANAUSKAS (Thgird Place, Lithuanian SSR).
Lithuanian SSR City of Kaunas went on organizing anual „Comsomol Cup“ («Кубок комсомола», „Komjaunimo taurė“). 26 bodybuilders from Belorussian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Ukrainian SSR, R.S.F.S.R. and D.D.R. (Deutche Demokratishe Republik) took part at the event. Kaunas Comsomol leadres helped U.S.S.R. bodybuilders to invite D.D.R. athletes. The Category Winners were: Lithuanians VINCAS DUBICKAS, PAVEL KOSENKO, ALGIRDAS IVANAUSKAS, OLEGAS MASLOVAS (Олег Маслов, R.T.F.S.R.).
Also in 1986 several local Competitions were held in Leningrad and Liubercy (both R.S.F.S.R.), in the Belorussian SSR and in the Lithuanian SSR.
Speaking about the other Socialist Countries we should mention „Trener“ contest in the Czechoslovakian SSR. The Category Winners were: Czechoslovaks PETR DUDAREC, JAN KUS, JAN CERNY and PETER MOLNAR (Hungarian SSR).
Another competition was held in Neubranderburg (D.D.R.). Category Winners were: BERNARD SEIBE (D.D.R.) and Czechoslovaks LIBOR MINARIK, PAVOL JABLONICKY, JAN CERNY. The Over All Winner was LIBOR MINARIK.

1980 „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“ RESULTS.
In 1980 bodybuilding still was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries. When in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote the petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding, he personally brought it to Moscow and presented to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers. The achieved victory let start public competitions in Klaipeda (Lithusnian SSR). Until this contests were illegal and without public. The first official bosybuilding contest was the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023) which was organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Since 1978 the „Amber Prix International“ got the status of the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («Неофициальный чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»).
In 1980 three International bodybuilding contests were organized in the U.S.S.R. and all of the were held in the Lithuanian SSR. One of them was the „Amber Prix International“ which was held in the Palace of Culture of the City Klaipeda. The organizers did not expect so big crowd of spectators. So the doors of the palace were broken by entering crowd at the very beginning.
The second contest was held in Kaunas and that was the „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė“, «Кубок комсомола»). The Category Winners were STANISLAV POLIAKOV (Станислав Поляков, Latvian SSR) and Lithuanians VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS ir EUGENE ZURCEV (Евгений Журцев). The Over All Winner was VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS.
One more contest was organized in Vilnius. That was the competition „Lithuanian SSR versus Hungarian SSR“. Hungarians did not come with strong bodybuildiers and all first places went to the Lithuanians: EUGENE GORELIK (Евгений Горелик), VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, SAULIUS MISEVICIUS and EUGENE ZURCEV.
In 1980 the traditional „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 1989) was not organized in the Estonian SSR. When in 1979 INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002) and best U.S.S.R. bodybuilder of that time Estonian OLEV ANNUS returned from competition in Czechoslovakian SSR they guarreled in between. Letters of INNAR MARDO to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS say that OLEV ANNUS wrote bad letters about INNAR MARDO to political powers of the Estonian SSR. Due to this INNAR MARDO lost his gym and his position of the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. Also the Communist powers of the Estonian SSR prohibited 1980 „Georg Tenno Momorial“.
The leadership of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR took OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO. INNAR AMARDO as well as DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did not stop bodybuilding activities due to the conflicts. Both went on working on their own.
In 1980 separatly from the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO and INDREK OTSUS went to „Trener“ contest in the Czechoslovakian SSR. INDREK OTSUS won against the 1975 Over All I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) Europe Champion PETER STACH again and reveived the title of the Over All Winner. The other Winners of the Categories were Czechoslovakians JOZEF GROLMUS, STEFAN JUST and IRZY MRACEK.

1978. HISTORIC ‚AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
WHAT WAS KEPT IN SILENCE?
Why today DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS name stay together with BEN WEIDER, OSCAR HEIDENSTAM, OSCAR STATE and BOB FOFFMAN? Why Russia journalists call DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS „The Father of Russia Bodybuilding?“ („Отец российского культуризма»).
We would like to underline that after 1973 bodybuilding sport was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist countries. Bodybuilders were prosecuted. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was alone to fight against the bodybuilding prohibition after the 1977 another more strict order of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р., Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) to prosecute bodybuilding. No one bodybuilder or organizer dared to stay together with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS in his fight. No one thought that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS will succeed.
The 1977 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023, Klaipėda, Lithuania, organizer was DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS) was like a rehersal for the folowing risky steps of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The 1977 contest was held in public at the Klaipeda Sea Port Palace. Bodybuilders of the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS gym collected the spectators that were their friends and family members. The hall was full of people. The contest was illegal to the political powers of that time.
The 1978 „Amber Prix International“ was organized just after DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited Moscow to defend the bodybuilding sport. In Moscow he presented his petition to the U.S.S.R. highest political organizations. The petition was given to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»). Due to the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS U.S.S.R. political powers gave permition to organize „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR).
But DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wanted much more. He dared to organize the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») together with 1978 „Amber Prix“. No one knew what the reaction of political powers will be. Nevermind DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS had taken the risk and did this step.
UNIQUE STAGE OF THE CONTEST.
We will start with very clear and simple items. Now working on the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма») we scrutinized information, pictures of all previous U.S.S.R. bodybuilding competitions: since 1965 until 1978. No one contest stage was equal to the stage of the 1978 „Amber Prix International“. We can state that the stage of the 1977 „Amber Prix“ was more or less like the stage of the 1972 „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемортал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 1989, Tallinn, Estonian SSR, organizer Innar Mardo, Иннар Мардо). But the stage of the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ was unique with it‘s capasity and decorations. In the centre of the stage was a big picture of FRANK ZANE. In the background of FRANK ZANE was a huge map of the U.S.S.R.. On both sides of the decoration were all fifteen National flags of the Socialist Republics of the U.S.S.R.. Who has seen anything like this in the U.S.S.R. before? How DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS dared to do this? Nobody knew what the reaction of the U.S.S.R. political powers will be after this. This was a real confrontation with the communist regime. Anyway DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took the risk and did it.
NO SUPPORT. BODYBUILDERS SLEPT IN PIONEER CAMP.
Nobody supported and nobody financed the 1978 „Amber Prix International“. All working group consisted of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS himself, mother of his wife, his wife and some bodybuilders from the gym of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Competitiors of the competition were given sleeping places at the sea coast in a Giruliai resort children‘s pioneer camp. The vocation season did not starteed then. The stage decoration was done by the mother of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wife - it was made of the children‘s nappies. As DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS asked a known Belorussia painter OLEG ISAJEV (Олег Исаев) painted a figure of FRANK ZANE. In the background of it he painet the map of the U.S.S.R.. The prizes for the first six places of each category of this non official “U.S.S.R. Championship” were made by Klaipeda bodybuilder OLEG SEROV (Олег Серов). Medals and diplomas were made by Klaipeda design company. The expences were covered by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS himself.

1978 „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
It is evident that most bodybuilders do not know the history of bodybuilding. Most take as a surprise what we are presenting in our articles. Somenow it is a historic shock for them. We are presenting here the final results of the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ (‚Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 - 2023) until the authors of the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ („Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija“, «Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма») are working on with the folowing historic materials. We must underline that this contest was held during the severe prosecution of bodybuilding. As the specialists and historians of bodybuilding say the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ was the unofficial „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ („neoficialus T.S.R.S. kultūrizmo čempionatas“, «неофициальный чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). And after the 1978 this contest remained the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ until 1988 (in 1988 the first U.S.S.R. Official Cup of Bodybuilding was held, „первый официальный кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму“). Later the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) recognized the „Amber Prix International“ as it had been the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“. By the way the stage of the 1978 competition, diplomas, prizes and medals were decorated as the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ - „Amber Prix“.

W.F.F. - WORLD FITNESS FEDERATION.
WE CREATE FIRST NON DOPING FEDERATION.
In 1998 International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) threw away I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) federation. Since that time bodybuilding is no more recognized sport. The exception is only former Communist Countries and some Asia organizations. They still finance I.F.B.B. federation. All other multiple bodybuilding federations have nothing to do with sport. This way they fool athletes.
But bodybuilders do not disappear. International bodybuilding will be led by the W.B.B.F. (World Body Building Federation).
Declaring fitness as being totally without doping we go another way. The World Fitness Federation (W.F.F., W.F.F. - International) it’s activities started with the historic “Amber Prix International” (“Gintarinis prizas”) contest in 1968. For many decades fitness was understood as a part of bodybuilding. Now it is time to separate them and we will do it. Basing on the sixty years of our work we start totally new fitness concept. During the last 30 years representatives of the Scandinavia Countries of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway many times successfully participated at the International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) Events.
Some time ago to meet the lacal sport leaders and sportsmen the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited Finland, Denmark and Sweden.
During the mentioned period of time the representatives of Scandinavia Bodybuilding Sport visited the International Headquarters W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. in Klaipeda (Lithuania). Among them was our old friend and contemporary President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. Finland SIMO BOGDANOFF. The future plans of the developing bodybuilding in their regions were spoken over.

Not a single bodybuilding book has so many readers as our publications.

BEGINNING.
Until now official World and Socialist bodybuilding history is presented as a mistake. The basis of the history is uncorrect. It is a mistake when we use to say that bodybuilders built and developed sport of bodybuilding. No, not bodybuilders. Bodybuilders were training and participating at the competitions only. Do winning bodybuilders developed sport anyhow? No, not at all. For bodybuilders somebody else had to organize competitions, to get permittions, support, venue places, awards and to collect participants. To say more – somebody had to publicize information about contests and bodybuilders. Otherwise until now nobody would even hear anything about a single bodybuilder.
All bodybuilding organizations, federations were created not by bodybuilders. Organizations were created by functioneers and organizers. During the history of bodybuilding sport there were only few Internationally important persons - organizers. Organizers are the main persons of bodybuilding sport. We will speak shortly in this article. Anyway it will be a long story to put it down.

1985. SOCIALIST BODYBUILDING NEWS.
The prohibition of bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist countries lasted from 1973 until 1987. In 1987 in Kubenka (R.S.F.S.R.) was established the official „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). The prosecution of bodybuilding was so fierce in 1977. Then in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. ЭДМУНДАС ДАУБАРАС) dared to write bodybuilding defending petition. He personally brought it to Moscow and presented to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) as well as to other highest U.S.S.R. political institutions. No one of Socialist bodybuilders supported DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS then. All were afraid. After this the prosecution of bodybuilders became softer and softer every year.
In 1985 bodybuilders in the U.S.S.R. felt more freedom. Everybody felt coming „Perestrojka of Gorbachov“ («Прерстройка Горбачёва»). Why for many years on the President of the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, the Presidents of N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and IVAN DUNBAR, the President of W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) SERGE NUBRET were in touch with „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма г. Клайпеда») that was represented by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS? The answer is – until 1987 „Klaipeda Bodybuilding federation“ was the only one official federation in the U.S.S.R.. All other bodybuilding units were not registered officially and worked more or less illegal. And DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was the only one among the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders who knew foreign languages. Through communication of the mentioned persons long lasting friendly relations were built.
In 1985 traditionally the most important bodybuilding competition in the U.S.S.R. was the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023). That was the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («неофициальный Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). At the 1985 „Amber Prix International“ participated 56 bodybuilders representing Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Belorussian SSR and Ukrainian SSR. The Category Winners at the 1985 „Amber Prix International“ were: Juniors - OLEG ZUR (Олег Жур), VIKTORAS JUCYS, LINAS BEKESIUS (all from Lithuanian SSR) and among Main Categories - VINCAS DUBICKAS, VLADAS KAPCEVICIUS, ALGIRDAS IVANAUSKAS and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS (again all from Lithuanian SSR). Over All Winners were: VIKTORAS JUCYS ir VINCAS DUBICKAS.
The second by the importance U.S.S.R. contest was held in Tallinn (Estonian SSR) „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 1989). 47 bodybuilders from Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, Estonian SSR, Ukrainian SSR, R.S.F.S.R., Belorussian SSR. The Category Winners were: Juniors - ROMAN BEREZOVYJ (Roman Berezovyj, Роман Березовый, Ukrainian SSR) and AIN KIMBER (Rein Kimber, Estonian SSR), Main Categories – Estonians INDREK OTSUS (Indrek Otsus), PAVEL KOSENKO (Павел Колсенко), AIN PAAVO and EDMUNDAS GUDAVICIUS (Lithuanian SSR). Over All Winners were: ROMAN BEREZOVYJ and INDREK OTSUS. In 1985 it was the last time we saw INNAR MARDO (1946 – 2002) as International Contest organizer. After this he disappeared until 1996.
City of Kaunas (Lithuanian SSR) organized two contests: traditional „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė“, «Кубок комсомола») and the „Over All Winners Cup“ („Absoliučių čempionų taurė“, «Кубок абсолютных чемпионов»). 24 bodybuilders from P.N.R. (Polska Narodna Respublika), D.D.R. (Deutsches Demokratishe Republik, German Democratic republic), CSSR (Czechoslovakian SSR), R.S.F.S.R., Ukrainian SSR and Lithuanian SSR. That was first time when after 1978 bodybuilders of Czechoslovakian SSR came to the U.S.S.R.. Then in 1978 Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ (формальная «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS due to his envy broke the common bodybuilding competitions in Lithuanian SSR and in Czechoslovakian SSR (read about it in our earlier articles). The Category Winners in 1985 were: PETER BUTZE (D.D.R.), ODRES ZEMBA (C.S.S.R.), VIKTORAS JUCYS (Lithuanian SSR) ir SERGEJ ZAICEV (Сергей Зайцев, R.S.F.S.R.).
Another one Contest in Kaunas was organized first time - the „Over All Winners Cup“. 12 bodybuilders of Estonian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Belorussian SSR and R.S.F.S.R. took part at the event. The first three places were taken by SAULIUS MISEVICIUS, VINCAS DUBICKAS ir ALGIRDAS IVANAUSKAS (all from Lithuanian SSR).
In 1985 ARKADIJ KASANSKIJ (Аркадий Кашанский) went on organizing competitions in Charkov (Ukrainian SSR). This time 25 bodybuilders from Lithuanian SSR, R.S.F.S.R. and Ukrainian SSR took part at the competition. The Over All Winners were VIKTORAS JUCYS (Juniors) and VALERIJ LUTCAK (Валерий Лутцак, Main categories, Ukrainian SSR).
First time competition was organized in Kronstadt (Кронштадт, R.S.F.S.R.). The Over All Winner was BORIS RAJEV (Борис Раев) from R.S.F.S.R.. Also in 1985 local contests were held in Latvian SSR, Belorussian SSR and Estonian SSR.
In 1985 Czechoslovakian SSR held two traditional competitions ‚ „Sandow“ and „Trener“. The Category Winners of „Trener“ Contest were VINCAS DUBICKAS (Lithuanian SSR) and Czechoslovaks ANTON HOLIC, JAN CERNY, MILAN ROLINEC. Supported by the Sport Ministry of the Czechoslovakian SSR bodybuilders of this Country went on participating at the I.F.B.B. World and Europe Championships. They were the only ones from all Socialist World. Other Countries had strong Communist restrictions. In 1985 as well as in the previous 1984 European Champion‘s title went to MIROSLAV JASTERBSKI. WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.
1981. SOCIALIST WORLD BODYBUILDING NEWS.
In 1981 bodybuilding was still prohibited in the Socialist countries. Political powers controlled illegal bodybuilding through the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») which was reset at the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.») in 1979. That was based on the old F.I.H.C. (F.H.C., „Federation Internationale Halterophile”) federation traditions.
The year of 1981 started with the traditional „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2025) contest in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR). Since 1978 this contest was accepted as the „Unofficial U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ («неофициальный Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). We should underline that the possibility of the public competitions in the U.S.S.R. was got only after the victorial visit of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to Moscow. Then he wrote and personally brought the bodybuilding defending petition to the highest U.S.S.R. political powers in Moscow and received permeation to organize bodybuilding contests. The category winners of the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ were EUGENE GORELIK (Евгений Горелик, Lithuanian SSR), INDREK OTSUS (Estonian SSR), SAULIUS MISEVICIUS (Lithuanian SSR) and OLEV ANNUS (Estonian SSR). The Over All Winner was SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. There were two teams of the Estonian SSR at the competition. One was of the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR led by OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO. Another one was of INNAR MARDO. Before the contest the Secretary of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS instructed the International Judges not to allow OLEV ANNUS to win the Over All Champion‘s title again. The „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ knew that OLEV ANNUS plans to emigrate from the U.S.S.R. to Finland. That was a terrible action of him against the Communist regime. How the Over All U.S.S.R. bodybuilding champion can do this? So OLEV ANNUS lost the title. The head Judge of the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ was a friend of OLEV ANNUS. Several days after the competition he cancelled the results of „Amber Prix International“ and in official letter asked the Chairman of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз) to approve his decision. ROMAN MOROZ was against the decision and the results of the contest remained unchanged. At the same time OLEV ANNUS wrote letters to the Socialist press saying about bad judging and explaining that the results of the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ were cancelled.
We have no information about 1981 intrigues in the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. In 1979 after the quarrel OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO overturned INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002) and took the leadership in the federation. Then ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was supporting the replacing of INNAR MARDO. INNAR MARDO popularity among U.S.S.R. bodybuilders and the results he achieved at the contests in the Socialist countries made mad ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. In 1981 the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 2024) was organized in „Tallinn Olympic Pirita Centre“ (Талинский олимпийский центр Пирита») by INNAR MARDO without the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR. At that time the director of this centre was Lithuanian PRANAS MICKEVICIUS. In 1981 the above mentioned PRANAS MICKEVICIUS overturned OLEV ANNUS and brothers ARRO and took the leadership in the National Bodybuilding Federation of the Estonian SSR.
In 1981 a meeting of the formal „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Всесоюзная комиссия атлетической гимнастики») was held in Moscow (R.S.F.S.R.). Bodybuilding was still prohibited but a number of public competitions were held in Lithuanian SSR and in the Estonian SSR. Those contests were organized with the political background. For example it was the „Comsomol Cup“ („Komjaunimo taurė», «Кубок комсомола») in Kaunas (Lithuanian SSR). As the activities of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ were only formal, it was ruled by the Chairman and former R.S.F.S.R. weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ and secretary ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. As ROMAN MOROZ was fare away from bodybuilding sport in fact the real Chairman was ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS. The meeting in Moscow made no important decisions. Only several statistic persons were changed. Among new statistic persons was one of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding pioneers weightlifter GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин). ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS was inviting DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to join his work. The above mentioned meeting spoke about OLEV ANNUS letters to the Socialist Sport Press and accused him about this. The „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ prohibited OLEV ANNUS to participate at any U.S.S.R. bodybuilding competitions.
in 1981 at the International competition „Trener“ (Czechoslovakian SSR) only Estonian INDREK OTSUS represented the U.S.S.R.. He became the Over All Winner again.

LOTS OF MICKEY-MOUSE FEDERATIONS.
WE SPEAK WITH ATHLETES.
Forty years ago we were explaining athletes about official sport and about the BASIC questions of various federations. This is ABC of every athlete. Do not be dreamers and learn real matters. As we see many do not like the truth. Sportsmen waist their time, energy, money. They are glad about their “great” achievements at competitions. But - this result for official sport is ZERO. Find yourselves who is guilty - maybe your leaders, maybe trainers, maybe somebody else.
STEP ONE. INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION.
We do not want to offend anybody. All of today working forty International bodybuilding federations play zero role in official recognized sport. That are “mickey - mouse” federations. Just ZERO. Official International Sport organizations do not recognize a single one of them. Let us speak about some of those “federations”. What do You know about Your federation? Since 1990 we came inside of many International Bodybuilding Organizations. Step by step we learned about their zero value in sport. Athletes were cheated and still are cheated.
I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders)
Due to efforts of American BOB HOFFMAN (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 – 1985) since 1947 until 1969 World’s official bodybuilding sport was ruled by a member of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) International F.I.H.C. (Fédération Internationale Haltérophile et Culturiste) federation.
In 1970 general secretary of F.I.H.C. British OSCAR STATE (Oscar State, Obe, 1911-1984) during Belgrade (Yugoslavia) Congress created the I.F.B.B. sport federation. Until that time I.F.B.B. was a private company and played zero role in official sport. Again due to the efforts of OSCAR STATE in 1971 I.F.B.B. became a member of G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) and ruled World’s official bodybuilding sport until 1998.
In 1998 after two years trial I.F.B.B. was thrown out of the I.O.C.. Since that time bodybuilding is no more sport. N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association).
After long correspondence with N.A.B.B.A. Chairman OSCAR HEIDENSTAM we were working with N.A.B.B.A. since 1991 until 2005. After some time N.A.B.B.A. Chairman IVAN DUNBAR informed us that N.A.B.B.A. is not an association of federation - it is by law a public club. How officially registered in Lithuania Republic sport federation can be a member of a public club? Sounds childish… After death of OSCAR HEIDENSTAM in 1991 until now N.A.B.B.A. had no another leader like him. Full article about N.A.B.B.A. is already published on International Site www.wff.lt
W.F.F. (World Fitness Federation).
In 1995 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS, German KLAUS HOFFMANN (Klaus P.J.Hoffmann), Austrian PETER PAPULA, Greek ANARGIROS TSOPOURIDIS came to Germany where they established World Fitness Federation (W.F.F. - International). Power zones were set up - KLAUS HOFFMANN took the leadership on the “Western” countries and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS went on leading “East” countries. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS brought former socialist countries in the game. Supported by the Government Republic Lithuania in 1996, 1997, 1998 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized European Championships in Klaipeda, Vilnius and Palanga. At that time there was no official registration of the W.F.F. federation - somehow KLAUS HOFFMANN was against it. The situation did not satisfy us. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was closely working with the Ministry of Sport of the Lithuanian Republic. According the law we needed official registration. Virtual W.F.F. was nothing. Then in 1998 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS registered official W.F.F. federation and organized the 1998 W.F.F. World Championship in Palanga (Lithuanian Republic). The championship was supported and financed by the Government Republic Lithuania. It was televised by “Eurosport” television. Step by step KLAUS HOFFMANN left the W.F.F. federation. In 2003 he told he can not organize International contests any more. Uniting both parts of the federation the full power of W.F.F. went to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Exceptional prestige of W.F.F. rose up after tremendous 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 W.F.F. World Championships which were held in Vilnius and Klaipeda (Lithuanian Republic). For example - at 2005 W.F.F. World Championship in Vilnius participated 742 athletes from 42 countries. Lithuania Parliament voted to finance 2008 W.F.F. Event in Klaipeda through the separate line in the Budget of the Republic Lithuania. All above mentioned championships were supported and financed by the Government Republic Lithuania. Seeing great growth of the W.F.F. federation KLAUS HOFFMANN stopped connection with the federation and in 2005 registered his own W.F.F. federation in Germany. This federation was closed in 2013.
GAMES OF GRAEME LANCEFIELD.
Several years ago appeared Australian GRAEME LANCEFIELD who was unknown to the International Sport Society. GRAEME LANCEFIELD used the name of W.F.F., our W.F.F. history (working since 1968, “Amber Prix International”, etc.). When we wrote that we will address the International Court, then GRAEME LANCEFIELD stopped using traditional W.F.F. history. But he uses W.F.F. name anyway. Still it is not clear if W.F.F. of GRAEME LANCEFIELD egzists by law or it is only his private games. Anyway there are many not educated athletes who do not know our sport history and who do not know anything about W.F.F. federation. This way GRAEME LANCEFIELD can play his games. N.A.C. (National Athletic Committee)
When in 2000 KLAUS HOFFMANN stopped working properly with W.F.F. federation in Germany, several people left German W.F.F. an then appeared N.A.C.. N.A..C. is National German organization. No official International or National Institutions recognize and support N.A.C.. N.A.C. has nothing to do with official sport. Working more that twenty years N.A.C. did nothing noticeable for our sport. All N.A..C. events were made in Europe only. Outside Europe nobody even heard of N.A..C.. Maybe somebody can say what are aims of N.A.C.??? In 2005 in Italy Chairmen N.A.C. addressed President W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. International (World Fitness Federation, World Bodybuilding Federation) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. They wanted to cooperate activities. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS refused - there was no future and no sense in that.
N.P.C. (National Physique Committee)
For many decades amateur bodybuilding in USA was ruled by A.A.U. (Amateur Ayhletic Union). Established in 1888 A.A.U. was a member of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). In the USA even a member of G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders), federation could not fight against N.P.C.. Remember, in 1970 F.I.H.C. (Fédération Internationale Haltérophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in Belgrade (Yugoslavia) created the I.F.B.B. sport federation. Until that time I.F.B.B. was a private company. Finally after discussion with I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER a member of A.A.U. JIM MANION left A.A.U. and established N.P.C. in 1983. This way N.P.C. escaped of doping control too. JIM MANION agreed with WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN this way - all World Amateur bodybuilding was ruled by I.F.B.B. of BEN WEIDER and Amateur bodybuilding in USA was ruled by N.P.C. of JIM MANION. At the same time N.P.C. was representing I.F.B.B. in USA. Professional bodybuilding was under JOE WEIDER. N.P.C. had been never recognized by any Official International Sport Organization. In 2015 after death of WEIDER brothers previous agreement had no more power and N.P.C. left the I.F.B.B. of Spanish RAFAEL SANTONJA. RAFAEL SANTONJA was thrown out of America and never appeared there any more. Fighting for money at the moment N.P.C. with it’s contests goes aggressively around the World pushing I.F.B.B. of RAFAEL SANTONJA out of the game.
W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association).
Several years athletes of Lithuanian Republic participated at W.A.B.B.A. competitions. Lithuanians never organized a single W.A.B.B.A. contest in the country. Collecting 2-3 athletes of other National federations W.A.B.B.A. organizers used to go abroad to compete. In general there were no results in this activities.
W.A.B.B.A. appeared in 1976 after in 1975 I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) President BEN WEIDER because of sexual affairs threw away from his federation his Vice President and famous France bodybuilder SERGE NUBRET. Having no knowledge about International Sport requirements SERGE NUBRET registered only name and logo of W.A.B.B.A.. Nothing was serious and official. Our last information of W.A.B.B.A. is that it belongs to a protein shop of French FABIAN DE BECK. In fact in 1975 it was the first time I.F.B.B. was split and divided. SERGE NUBRET took out of I.F.B.B. a number of National Presidents and Athletes from Asia and Africa countries.
OTHER FEDERATIONS
Looking through 100 years history of bodybuilding we can make some conclusions.
During the last century several decades World was divided into Capitalist (Western) and Socialist (Eastern) parts. Both parts were separated by the “Iron Wall” and did not communicate in between anyway. Bodybuilders of both parts did not communicate too. Also have in mind that bodybuilding was prohibited in the Socialist World since 1973 until 1987.
When Socialist World was ruined in 1995 was created World Fitness Federation (W.F.F. - International) which took the leadership of bodybuilding in some Europe and former Socialist countries. Later International fitness and bodybuilding were separated and since that time fitness was ruled by W.F.F. - International and bodybuilding was ruled by the World Body Building Federation (W.B.B.F. - International).
During the last thirty years appeared about forty “International” bodybuilding federations led by ill minded people. For every clever bodybuilder is evident - if one is not afraid of doping control - there is with it’s law and finance problems in 1970 in Belgrade (Yugoslavia) by F.I.H.C. (Fédération Internationale Haltérophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE created International Federation of Body Builders (I.F.B.B.); when one do not want doping control - there is old traditional National Amateur Body Building Association (N.A.B.B.A.). Everything is clear as daylight - the three above mentioned organizations rule International bodybuilding and fitness. Why other bodybuilding federations needed? What are their aims? Seems like childrens game... These federations have never been recognized by any Governmental or International Sport Structure. Their work is of zero value. First we met this nonsense forty years ago when two bodybuilders of Estonian SSR went to Italy to participate at “Europe” Championship. After coming back they kept silence. The reason was - there were only several participants from two countries - Italy and Estonia. The organizer was a private person representing no federation. In 2000 - 2005 Lithuanian bodybuilders were participating at the contests of the International federation of homosexual bodybuilders (today bodybuilders of Republic Poland are active in this field). Ok, anyway we can understand organization like this. From time to time we hear about another misunderstanding - the International Federation of “natural bodybuilders”. Natural bodybuilders are like alcoholics without alcohol... Every day primitive bodybuilders are fooled and cheated.
Since 1999 Italians started to participate at International W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. contests. They organized Italian contest for many years and now they wanted to organize official International contests in Italy. We told them how to create official federation. Now they have logo, they have name and still there is no federation. Organizers of this Italian group used to fight in between. So this way for several years another “International” federation appeared in France. After another Italian fight ten years ago one more “International” federation appeared in Slovenia.
Bodybuilders have problems with brains?
Today many idiotic categories appeared at bodybuilding contests - like bikini, wellness... Whom you are fooling? It is women bodybuilding and be smart - it is bad women bodybuilding. You want to say it is fitness? No - fitness is without doping. All activities with doping is bodybuilding. Do not lie for yourself and for other people. Let these “bikinies” and “welness” bodybuilders participate together with a real bodybuilder... Nonsense - they are weak athletes and they have no chances to participate at normal bodybuilding contests successfully. This is the reason that “bikinies” appeared. With men’s bodybuilding situation is the same. For example - lazy bodybuilders do not train legs. For them we have “Men’s Physique” category. Participants are representing bodybuilding and in fact they are bad bodybuilders. No legs, no calves... In normal bodybuilding fight they have no chances... So what is the value of their wins? Nothing... Weak bodybuilders participate at contests of “mickey - mouse” federations and in “mickey - mouse” categories and they become champions. What is the value of their titles? Nothing... Is anybody really proud of this?

WORLD BODYBUILDING REVUE. ARTICLE. THE START.
During the life nearly everybody somehow is connected with Bodybuilding and Fitness.
Being the World‘s Leader of the Official Sport of Bodybuilding and Fitness the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International Federation is working over the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ and prepares the historical Article - Revue of the World‘s Bodybuilding Sport.
The International Bodybuilding Organizations and the Countries that were and still are really important for the Official International Bodybuilding Sport will be covered in this Article. You know that many of so called „International Federations“ just fool the public as they are not official by the National and International Law and play no role for the Official Sport in real.
CZECH AND SLOVAK BODYBUILDING. ANALYTICAL REVUE.
Working on the above mentioned materials the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International prepares analytical revue of the bodybuilding sport in Czech and Slovak Republics. The revue includes the history of bodybuilding in both Countries (former Czechoslovakia), most important sportsmen and sport organizers of all times.
Few or us know that at the definite period of time Czechoslovakia bodybuilding has played such a very important role for the International Sport. We will cover the history and we will tell this story.
The similar historic revues are already done by us about the bodybuilding sport in USA, UK, France, Scandinavia Countries, Belgium, India, Iran, Argentina, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Estonia. Still remaining only a few Countries.
PERIODS OF BODYBUILDING IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
Last Century for a long time the World was divided by the „Iron Wall“ in two parts: the Socialist and the Capitalist. For political reasons the Bodybuilding Sport was prohibited and prosecuted in all Socialist Countries. Effected by the occasionally from the Western World received Bodybuilding Magazines the Bodybuilding Sport in Socialist Countries went their own original way.
Quite a long time the only one traditional regular International Bodybuilding Contest of all the Socialist World was the famous historical „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз“, 1968-2025). Today all know that during the long years of the Bodybuilding Sport prohibition and prosecution the „Amber Prix International“ was the unofficial Bodybuilding Championship of the U.S.S.R. (uniting 15 Country-members, the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics). Later on the U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry („Goskomsport“) officially accepted this fact and started presenting prestigious governmental „U.S.S.R. Sport Master“ degrees for the „Amber Prix International“ Champions. This way the „Amber Prix International“ became somehow equal to the official U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship. In real due to the number and the level of the participating Countries and Competitors the „Amber Prix International“ was the unofficial World Championship of the Socialist Countries.
Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding development as it was in all Socialist Countries can be divided in three periods:
- First period until 1975. Then due to the initiative of the President Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation VOTECH FIALA this Federation joined the International Sport Society and got political permeation to participate at the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) World and Europe Championships. For a long time Czechoslovakia was the only one Socialist Country which had this unique permeation. No one other Socialist Country could do the same for a long time.
- Second period until 1987, when Bodybuilding Sport was under severe prosecution in the Socialist Countries
- Third period after 1991, when the National Bodybuilding Organizations of all Socialist Countries felt real freedom to join the International Bodybuilding Sport Society.
We will speak about each period individually.
THE BEGINNING.
The history of the Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding starts in 1967. Then the first Czechoslovakia Bodybuilder JURAJ VISNY was known after a number of his successful contests.
CZECHOSLOVAKIA MOVES AS A ROCKET.
In 1975 for two months DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was working in the capital city of Czechoslovakia Prague. Remember - it was the time when for political reasons Bodybuilding in all Socialist Countries was prohibited and prosecuted. Being afraid nobody of the Sport Leaders in the Socialist Countries dared to do anything to develop Bodybuilding (more information and documents about this are published in various languages in the International Magazines „Sport of Fitness and Bodybuilding“ («Спортивный фитнес и культуризм», “Sportinis fitnesas ir kultūrizmas”) and on the International Web Site www.wff.lt, read Articles on the main page and forum topics „World Bodybuilding History. How it was in real“ and „Various International Organizations“).
1975 was the unique year for Czechoslovakia bodybuilders. Then the President Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation was VOJTECH FIALA. Due to VOJTECH FIALA personal efforts and personal relations with the Government Czechoslovakia and a number of International Organizations Czechoslovakia Federation got the unique political permeation to participate at the Competitions of the „Western World“. That were the Contests organized by the Owner and the President of the I.F.B.B. BEN WEIDER. This was the unbelievable Winning among all Socialist bodybuilders as for nearly two next decades no other National Federation af any Socialist Countries could participate in the „Western World“, but Czechoslovakia.
After meeting the President Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation VOJTECH FIALA in 1975 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS had a chance to not only watch but even to participate at the very important International Bodybuilding Events as well. Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited as a VIP Guest to participate at two Meetings of the Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation Executive Council in Brno. Another Czechoslovakia Bodybuilding Leader Professor FRANTISEK BULVA was present at the above mentioned meetings too. Among other questions the matter of the relations with the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding was discussed over. In order to continue the relations the Executive Council appointed IVAN MACH to be responsible for the U.S.S.R. matters and affairs (later Ivan Mach became the President of the Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation).
Then together with VOJTECH FIALA DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS visited Ministry of Sport republic Czechoslovakia (Č.S.T.V., Československi Svaz Telesne Vychovy). Meeting with the Minister of Sport was organized and discussion about the situation inbodybuilding was held.
Under the initiative of the President VOJTECH FIALA DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS again as a VIP Guest attended the Government supported Camp of the National Bodybuilding Team of Czechoslovakia. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS personally met and spoke with the Czechoslovakia Team Leaders PETR STACH, PETR TLAPAK, ALOIS PEK and a number of other Bodybuilders and National Trainers. In 1975 PETR STACH was the first historical representative of the Socialist World who became Europe Bodybuilding Champion. Then in Sweden Czechoslovakia Bodybuilders was a shock for the „Western“ representatives as they demonstrated them a beautiful complex of individual routines. Until this routine compositions of the „Western“ Bodybuilders were plain and often primitive.
SOCIALIST COUNTRIES BODYBUILDING LITERATURE.
Through the time of the prohibition of bodybuilding sport in the Socialist Countries nobody even dreamed about the bodybuilding literature. The exception was in Czechoslovakia Bratislava issued „Trener“ Magazine (in nineties a German D.D.R. Weight Lifting Magazine started to publish some information too). During this time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS used to give articles and contest information for these Magazines. Also for BEN WEIDER‘S „Flex“ magazine. All magazines used to publish the DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS given materials. First of all it was information from the World‘s Oldest Traditional Bodybuilding Contest, the only one annual International Bodybuilding Event in all Socialist Counties, the „Amber Prix International“ (1968-2025). The Czechoslovakia „Trener“ Magazines were published by JOZEF MAZAK and later by MILAN PERDOCH.
ONE MORE STEP AGAINST COMMUNIST REGIME.
The first great victory against the political Communist Regime during the time of prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding sport in the Socialist Countries was achieved in 1977 by personal efforts and personal risk of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a petition to defend prohibited bodybuilding. Then he went to Moscow and addressed the Communist Party headquarters and main U.S.S.R. newspapers. After a dialogue the U.S.S.R. political power gave DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the unique exceptional permeation to organize annual bodybuilding contest „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
That were the exact activities and actions of the President W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS which during his Official Visit to the Vatican Administration were named by the Vatican Congregat Prefect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO as the „dissident“ actions against the political Communist Regime (2011).
For this work done the Vatican Congregat Prefect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Vatican Pontific Medal (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to International President W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011).
In 1977 already for the second time in a row DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS went to work in Czechoslovakia for two months again. After the first real political victory to organize „Amber Prix International“ was achieved, DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS went to Prague with another unbelievable brave International idea that did not corresponded with the political Communist Regime politics again. During the time of bodybuilding prohibition DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS set a plan to organize International Bodybuilding Competition between U.S.S.R. and Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Teams. That was the unbelievable brave and fantastic idea. First the contest should be organized in Klaipeda (Lithuania) and after in Prague. The U.S.S.R. and Lithuania Official Sport Stuff did not support DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. Even more, they wanted to stop and threatened him. But the big wish of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to do good for the bodybuilding sport was very big and he dared to go on.
Then in Prague were organized a number of mutual meetings of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and the President Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Federation VOJTECH FIALA and his assistant IVAN MACH. After this all of them met the Chairman of the Ministry Sport Czechoslovakia. During these meetings were set and spoken all details to fulfil the International DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS idea.
It was very good that Czechoslovaks were positive towards DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS International plans as the Czechoslovakia bodybuilding was on the same way as the prohibited U.S.S.R. and Lithuania sport. All of us had to behave brave in order to get the positive results in standing against the bodybuilding sport enemies we had to use not standard methods.
Nobody of the Bodybuilding Sport Leaders believed in success, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS won again. It was the second time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS managed to make the Political Communist Regime Officials (not the Official Sport officials who were afraid to move!!!) to believe of the necessity of the International Sport Cooperation between the Socialist Countries. In Bodybuilding as well. Especially it was about the Czechoslovakia Republic which was right after the 1968 unsuccessful anti – Communist Revolution. The politicians a little changed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS plans and suggested to organize the first International Bodybuilding Event in Czechoslovakia Prague and only after this in Klaipeda. But that was not so important . We won again!
Step by step DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received for all top U.S.S.R. Bodybuilders personal invitations to participate in Prague in 1978. During the years the best bodybuilders of the U.S.S.R. were the Lithuanian ones and that made DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS contest preparation work much easier. It seemed that it is the time to make the last finishing touches... Unfortunately some bad sides of the human being appeared – the envy. The U.S.S.R. and Lithuania Bodybuilding Leaders who were afraid to support DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS initiatives and works before, now they could not stand the success of the coming International Project. They wrote blackmailing letters to the Political Police. And their intrigues and activities ruined the plans and all the hard work done went to zero. Later on the same U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Officials many times did the same „devils“work - they offended and blackmailed their colleagues. It had happened during the first visits of the Owner and the President of the I.F.B.B. Commercial Company BEN WEIDER to the U.S.S.R. (1974 and 1987). They organized International intrigues about the Over All „Amber Prix International“ Champion OLEV ANNUS (Estonia, 1981). They organized International intrigues about the Over All „Amber Prix International“ Champions ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS and JURUJ GUSEV (Lithuania, 1980-1981). They organized International intrigues about the Over All „Amber Prix International“ Champions VIKTORAS JUCYS and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS (Lithuania, 1988). End a number of more similar facts...
COMMUNIST POWER LETS BODYBUILDING LIFE TO BE MORE EASY.
As we have written before, after DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS efforts for Bodybuilding Sport the „Iron Wall“ was broken and the sport life became more easy. The constant relations between Socialist Countries started to be regular. Still only the Czechoslovakia bodybuilders used to participate at the „Western“ contests and this was a very important example for other Countries to follow. Anyway the Socialist Countries always did their best to organize their own International Bodybuilding Events. In the nineties of the last Century the best U.S.S.R. bodybuilders used to participate in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and German Democratic Republic (D.D.R.).
During this time a famous top level bodybuilding trainer LUDEK NOSEK organized the regular traditional International Bodybuilding „Sandow“ Competitions in Czechoslovakia Marianske Lazne resort. Later LUDEK NOSEK was the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of Czechoslovakia. Appointed by the Ministry Sport Lithuania (Minister Sport ZIGMAS MOTIEKAITIS) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS several times led the National Team Lithuania to the „Sandow“ Contest. Among the participants were the best Soviet time sportsmen „Amber Prix International“ champions ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS, ZIGMAS PRALGAUSKAS, RIMONTAS MAZIONIS and SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. It used to be that right after the Marianske Lazne „Sandow“ Contest a number of International Bodybuilding Events were organized in other Czechoslovakia places. And Lithuanians participated at those competitions too.
I.F.B.B. ANTIDEMOCRATIC DICTATORSHIP.
Supported by the Ministry of Sport of the Republic Lithuania DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized first Europe Championship in Lithuanian Klaipeda City in 1996. In Lithuania that was the first so high ranked International Bodybuilding Event ever. Also it was the first Official International Event in Lithuania after the Country restored it‘s Independence in 1991. Then it was Czech organizer BOB DIVILEK who led the Czech National Team at this Event. Knowing so many years lasting DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS International work in Czechoslovakia, BOB DIVILEK invited Lithuania National Team to the International Bodybuilding Contest in the City of Zlin (1996).
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS led the National Team to Czech that consisted of the National Champions ALGIRDAS KILCIAUSKAS, VYTAUTAS KINDURYS and IDALIJA KAMINSKAITE. One of the Contest Judges at the Event was Professor KAREL TUCHACEK from Prague. Seeing the high status of the participating Lithuania Bodybuilders Professor KAREL TUCHACEK invited them to the soon coming International “Mega Pro” Contests in Prague and Brno Cities. Lithuanians agreed to remain staying in Czech and to continue participating further. Again among the numerous International participants Lithuanians took high places. Due to this the main “Mega Pro” Contest organizer and the former Europe Champion LIBOR MINARIK invited Lithuania National Team to the same International Events in Prague and Brno next year (1997).
After back from „Mega Pro“ Lithuania Bodybuilders became very famous as the Lithuania Press and the National Television made numerous reports about their wins. Unfortunately not everybody liked this success...
After received the official Invitation Lithuania National Bodybuilding Team led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS went to Czech Contests again in 1997. Right before Lithuanians went on the Contest stage the National I.F.B.B. Lithuania President called to the Czech Organizer LIBOR MINARIK and insisted he will not let Lithuanians participate at these Events. His reason was that the Lithuanians were representing another sport Federation but not the I.F.B.B.. LIBOR MINARIK told him that he invited his old friends to Czech Competitions and he see no reason to forbid them participating. Again in 1997 Lithuanians took high places among all International Competitors. But that was not the end. Envying the wins of their natives the Lithuania I.F.B.B. leaders wrote a letter to the Owner and the President of the I.F.B.B. Commercial Company BEN WEIDER (Canada). BEN WEIDER told the Czech I.F.B.B. representatives that if they will allow Lithuanians participating again the Czech National Team will be suspended for a long time from all I.F.B.B. Contests. This was the last important Lithuania International Bodybuilding wins in Czech Republic. After this no other Lithuanian won any important International Event in Czech Competitions again.
TIME PERIOD OF MARTIN KUTA.
EVEN ONE MAN CAN DO A LOT.
It seems that even one man can do a lot on International Level. A famous Czech businessman MARTIN KUTA was always a fitness sport fan. In 2005 MARTIN KUTA addressed the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS asking permeation to represent as the Chairman the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. Federation in Czech Republic and to organize annual W.F.F. Fitness Professional World Championship in Prague. From 1999 MARTIN KUTA used to organize a fitness competition in Prague, but this contest had no official International Contest Status.
The initiative of MARTIN KUTA was supported by the Major of the City Prague and by one of the Czech Socialdemocratic Party Leaders PETR HULINSKI. The W.F.F. Pro World Championship Organizers took the responsibility to collect every year five hundred thousand Euro for the competition as the prize money for Pros, as the payment for luxurious transport, food and accommodation for the International Delegates. The W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International was responsible to collect the Best International Pro Fitness Competitors.
The common work started in 2006. Every year the Czech Organizers hired a famous historic barocco Zofrin Palace that was placed on the Vltava river island right in the centre of Prague City. The Major City Prague was personally present at every W.F.F. Pro Event and all possible Czech Media was televising and covering the World Championship as well. Every Event was crowned by a superiors banquette where Czech VIP persons could communicate with the famous International Athletes direct.
At the W.F.F. contests in Prague worked a number of famous Czech bodybuilding personalities among which were PETR STACH and Professor KAREL TUCHACEK.
Once it happened that a famous USA Pro Bodybuilder JUSTIN DEXTER after his win at the JOE WEIDER‘S „OLYMPIA“ was in Prague. Having no possibilities to honour the famous bodybuilder themselves the Czech I.F.B.B. Leaders asked the Czech National W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. President MARTIN KUTA to help them and to let JUSTIN DEXTER stay free at one of his hotels in Prague. The W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. President agreed to help another friendly Federation. Why not?
During the mentioned period of time MARTIN KUTA led the W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. Czech National Federation Delegates at the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International Events in Austria, Poland, Germany and Lithuania. MARTIN KUTA was among the International Delegates at the Official Meeting at the Parliament Republic Lithuania (2007, 2008) and at the International Press Conference at the Lithuania News Agency „ELTA“ (2008).
The nice initiative stopped when in 2010 MARTIN KUTA went to constant work to the USA. Nobody else in Czech Republic could replace MARTIN KUTA to continue the International activities he started once before.

WORLD WOMEN FITNESS SHORT HISTORY.
GREAT STARS OF WORLD FITNESS.
Today everybody knows that OKSANA GRISINA (Оксана Гришина, Russian Federation) is the conteporary World Fitness Leader. She won many Pro „Olympia“ contests and it was done maybe ten times in a row. But anyhow World Fitness started 100 years ago in the USA.
LITHUANIA EMIGRANT CONGUERS AMERICA.
It was Emigrant of Lithuania BRONE DUBAR (Broné “Brownie” Dubar, Daubaraitė, 1906 – 1986) who came with her family to the USA in 1912. When her sport achievements went high she started public shows. Specialists use to call her „World Fitness Pioneer“ but in her times there was no any fitness sport at all. To say more – women sport was included to „Olympics“ only in 1920. This was the reason that 100 years ago gymnastic and acrobatic exercises of BRONE DUBAR were not named as „sport“. Aiming to make fitness propaganda BRONE DUBAR made her shows through all USA – from South to North and from West to East.
FIRST OVER ALL WORLD FITNESS CHAMPION.
Lithuanian EDITA SENDRIENE (Daubaraite, Dubar) was the ground ground ground daughter of BRONE DUBAR. From the childhood attending balely and gymnastic schools she visited a N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) Show in Malta. EDITA SENDRIENE liked performances of some „Miss Figure“ participants. Returned to Lithuania she decided to train and participate at sport competitions. Everything was ok. In 1996 the founders of the W.F.F. - International (World Fitness Federation) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and German KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN started World Fitness Championships in Kaizerslautern (Germany). This way in 1997 in Manheim (Germany) EDITA SENDRIENE became the Over All World Fitness Champion. „Eurosport“ Television made several reports about this. The Sport Ministry of Lithuanian Republic wanted to present EDITA SENDRIENE a Governmental Award but envy and intrigues among sport federations ruined this idea.
SECOND AND THIRD OVER ALL WORLD FITNESS CHAMPIONS.
After the victory of EDITA SENDRIENE the next two talanted World „Fitness Stars“ became the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) Over All World Fitness Champions. That were MARIETA ZIGALOVA (Republic Slovakia) and ALEKSANDRA KOBIELAK (Republic Poland). For many years on both Athletes were representing their Countries at the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) World and Europe Fitness Championships. Both of them led the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. National Teams of Aerobic Fitness and „Fit – kids“.

WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.

Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites 140 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader.
Crowning it‘s 56 years of International Bodybuilding activities, the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. works on the Unique Global International Bodybuilding Project - the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма», “Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija”).
Part One of the Encyclopedia covering period since ancient times to 1973 is finished. Now we are working on the Second Book covering period of time since 1973 until 1991.
ONLY THREE CONTESTS HAD HISTORIC STRATEGIC VALUE.
There are many various level competitions around us and the value to the World‘s sport of every one is different. Through the time today working on the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ we can clearly see what really every competition means to our sport. During the eighties of the last Century only three contests played great historic role to the Socialist Bodybuilding and to the World‘s Bodybuilding as well. The World was divided politically and the Bodybuilding Sport was prohibited in the Socialist Countries. It was a big risk for everybody to be connected with this sport. This means that always we look upon the same things from the different point of view. Today we can underline that only three events were extremely important for the further development of bodybuilding:
- 1974 „Georg Tenno Memorial“ (1971 – 1989, «Мемориал Георга Тенно», Tallinn, Estonian SSR, organized Innar Mardo, Иннар Мардо)
1975 I.F.B.B. Europe Championship (Amsterdam, Holland). VOJTECH FIALA from Czechoslovakia had broken the „Iron Wall“ and first time in sport‘s history PETER STACH won the Europe Champion‘s title)
- 1978 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, „Янтарный приз», Klaipeda, Lithuanian SSR, organized by DSc. Edmundas Daubaras, Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) opened the new page of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding.
We will speak about each of the mentioned events and explain the essence. Only due to these competitions our sport looks as it looks now.
UNIQUE „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
The „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2025 , Klaipeda, Republic Lithuania) was and still is a unique happening. It needs to be studied thoroughly by the specialists of the sport history. There is no other international contest in the World which is so much connected with the World history.
The „Amber Prix International“ is the oldest traditional competition after the N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) „Mr. Universe“ that is held in the UK since 1950.
We will touch the following topics while telling stories about the „Amber Prix International“:
- During the twenty years lasting prohibition of bodybuilding sport the „Amber Prix International“ together with the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ („Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 1989, Tallinn, Estonian SSR) were the only ones regular International bodybuilding competitions in the U.S.S.R. and all Socialist countries.
- The possibility to organize open bodybuilding contests in other places came when in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS won the fight for bodybuilding against the Highest Communist Institutions of the U.S.S.R.
- In 1986 during the „Amber Prix International“ in Klaipeda leaders of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding agreed about the future plans to set the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding federation and the ways how to develop bodybuilding
- There were some records. In 1990 at the „Amber Prix International“ participated 89 teams and there were over 50 participants in each category
- Together with the „Amber Prix International“ in 1990 and in 1991 official U.S.S.R. junior Championships were held
- Ending the nineties of the last century the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R. (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) named the „Amber Prix International“ as „unofficial USSR Championship“ («неофициальный Чемпионат С.С.С.Р.) and started presenting names of the „Sport master of the U.S.S.R.“ («Мастер спорта С.С.С.Р.») to the winners of the „Amber Prix International“
- During the history the Chairmen of our competitions were Prime Ministers of the Republic Lithuania, Ministers and Members of the Parliament
- Celebrating 40 years of the „Amber Prix International“ in 2008 the Parliament of the Republic Lithuania voted for the State financing of the „Amber Prix International“. The money was placed to the Budget of the Lithuanian Republic.
- In 2011 the Official Meeting of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) Interantional President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was organized in Vatican.
Listening about “Amber Prix International” during the years of prohibition of sport in the Socialist Countries Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO evaluated efforts of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and named him as „dissident of the Communist regime“. The Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Vatican Pontific Medal (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011).
- In 2015 a number of Members of Parliament Republic and Government Lithuania were present at the „Amber Prix International“. The High Quest Officials called DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS an „Embassador of the Republic Lithuania in the World“ seeing high level of competition and participating many athletes from Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
BACKGROUND OF HISTORICAL 1978 „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
Until prohibition of bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. and all Socialist countries a number of International competitions were held.
There were two U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championships (1971, 1972, Russian Federation, R.S.F.S.R., Р.С.Ф.С.Р.); two „Georg Tenno Memorials“ („Georg Tenno Memorial“, «Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971, 1972, Tallinn, Estonian SSR); three „Amber Prix International“ (1968, 1969, 1970, “Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», Klaipeda, Lithuanian SSR) and contests in Lithuanian Vilnius and Kaunas.
In 1973 bodybuilding prohibition started. Estonians led by INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо) managed to prove their Government that bodybuilding is „a National Kind of Sport“. Czechoslovakia SSR bodybuilders were led by the President of the National Federation VOJTECH FIALA (Войтех Фиала). VOJTECH FIALA used his personal power and had hidden bodybuilding behind the power exercises. This gave possibilities for Estonians and Czechoslovaks to go on organizing contests.
In 1973 and in 1975 „Georg Tenno Memorial“ was not organized. In 1971, 1972, 1973 „Amber Prix International“ was not organized too. In 1973 just after bodybuilding was prohibited DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) without any publicity organized „underground“ bodybuilding contest in Klaipeda prison. In 1974 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized „Amber Prix International“ in a nuclear bomb shelter. Following Czechoslovaks 1975, 1976 „Amber Prix International“ was hidden behind the power exercises too. Similar situation was in other cities of the Lithuanian SSR. Without any publicity and without spectators in 1976 International contest was held in Kaunas. In 1977 International contest was held in a gym of Kedainiai.
In 1976 Russians organized International contest in Kalinin (Калинин, Р.С.Ф.С.Р., now Tver). The contest was prohibited and it was done underground in a small city gym.
The situation was awful and bodybuilders needed to change it anyway. In 1975 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started correspondence with main U.S.S.R. newspapers, Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R. (Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.). It lasted four years. Finally to fight for defending bodybuilding DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wrote a petition. He personally brought the petition to Moscow and presented to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the U.S.S.R. (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) and the Ministry Council of the U.S.S.R. (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.). All bodybuilding organizers were afraid to support DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and he did it alone on his own risk to be later prosecuted.
RESISTANCE AGAINST PROHIBITION OF BODYBUILDING.
Main reason to prohibit bodybuilding sport was that it came from the „Western“ countries. This way it was against the „Communist morality“. In 1975 having no support of any bodybuilding organizers in fighting with the bodybuilding prohibition in the Socialist World DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) went his own way. He was under big impression after return from the Czechoslovakian SSR where he met local bodybuilders. Universities of the Socialist countries used to exchange students for summer time and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS lucky was among them.
The U.S.S.R. press used to publish negative articles on bodybuilding after the 1973 political bodybuilding prohibition. Most often it was the U.S.S.R. main sport newspaper „Sovietskij Sport“ («Советский спорт») and the main writer was a former weightlifter journalist DMITRIJ IVANOV (Дмитрий Иванов). Ten years ago when bodybuilding started in the U.S.S.R. DMITRIJ IVANOV used to write „good“ positive articles about bodybuilding but now he worked according the political situation. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS addressed the Chairman of the Office of „Sovietskij Sport“ and asked contacts of DMITRIJ IVANOV. Then the mutual correspondence started. Copies of the letters DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS used to send to the U.S.S.R. Scientific Institute of the Research of the Phisycal Culture (V.N.I.I.F.K., В.Н.И.И.Ф.К., Всесоюзный научно исследовательский институт физической культуры). At that time the Institute worked on the theoretical basis of bodybuilding. During a number of years the Institute managed to find only the Socialist name of bodybuilding and it was „Athletic Gymnastics“ (атлетическая гимнастика). DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS did everything in a „polite manner“.
The situation of bodybuilding in the Estonian SSR and in the Czechoslovakian SSR was a good example to seek and follow. Under the leadership of INNAR MARDO (1946 – 2002) Estonians managed to prove their Government that bodybuilding id a „National Kind of Sport“. Basing on since 1959 traditions of F.I.H.C. in Socialist countries Czechoslovaks for many years had hidden the essence of bodybuilding behind the power exercises.
As we mentioned above the Universities of the Socialist countries used to Exchange their students. This way DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS came to Czechoslovakian SSR in 1975. Then he had a number of meetings with VOJTECH FIALA (Войтех Фиала) who was the President of the National Bodybuilding Federation of Czechoslovakian SSR. Bodybuilders of Czechoslovakia were on top at the I.F.B.B. at that time and DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS learned many things of that.
The Headquarters of the National Bodybuilding Federation of Czechoslovakian SSR was placed in Prague in the building of the Ministry of Sport (Č.S.T.V., Československy Svaz Telesne Vychovi). VOJTECH FIALA introduced DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to the Chairman of the Ministry and to the secretary of the federation PETER TLAPAK (Петер Тлапак) . In 1976 PETER TLAPAK won the I.F.B.B. Europe Championship.
One day VOJTECH FIALA organized a trip of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to the suburb of Praha to PETER STACH (Петер Стах). PETER STACH won the Over All Champion‘s title of the 1975 I.F.B.B. Europe Championship. He presented to the guest his training methods and posing abilities.
Invited by Czechoslovaks in 1977 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS two times visited Czechoslovakian SSR again. VOJTECH FIALA organized his trip to the mountains where National Olympic Centre (Национальный Олимпийский Центр) was placed. Financed by the Government in this Centre Czechoslovakia National Bodybuilding Team was preparing to the coming International competitions. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met bodybuilders and their trainers and inspected the Centre.
At the same time bodybuilding organized professor FRANTISEK BULVA (Франтишек Бульва) organized two meetings of the Council of National Bodybuilding Federation of Czechoslovakian SSR in Brno City. Under the recomendation of VOJTECH FIALA DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took part at these meetings. Then he spoke about the real situation in the U.S.S.R. and learned the „Czechoslovak way“. Also the possiblity to organize contest between U.S.S.R. and Czechoslovakian SSR bodybuilders was spoken over.
Time was running. Nothing was better. Situation was the same after the 1973 prohibition of bodybuilding. Basing of the orders of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) local Governments followed them. Bodybuilders were prosecuted as any other criminals. Gyms were closed. Bodybuilders had problems at their working places. Who dared to risk to organize competitions?
Most bodybuilding organizers left sport. First U.S.S.R. International Bodybuilding Organization (Committee) that was organized in Kaunas (Lithuanian SSR) in 1968 diminished. For example VLADIMIR DUBININ (Leningrad, R.S.F.S.R., Р.С.Ф.С.Р.) left bodybuilding for thirteen years. Nearly everybody was afraid to do anything. Everybody but not all. Few enthuziasts went on organizing contests. Contests were „underground“ and without public and without any publicity. As it was before all bodybuilding competitions were according in 1959 accepted F.I.H.C. rules – posing was done together with power exercises.
The „underground“ bodybuilders got one more strict order of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (Комитет по физической культуре и спорту при Совете Министров С.С.С.Р.) in 1977. It seemed that there is no more way out of this…
BACKGROUND OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS PETITION.
1973 bodybuilding prohibition was the reason that many U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers, trainers and athletes left the sport. Among those who still were in activities nobody supported intentions of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to fight to stop bodybuilding prohibition. All were afraid to go against the regime. So called „Secretary of the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ Lithuanian ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS (Романас Калинаускас) said to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS: „all You do is Your own risk and Your own intentions. For this reason I will not risk my Communist Party membership. If something will go bad – I will say that I even did not know about these Your works“.
DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was led by the ideas of the Czechoslovakian bodybuilders and their Leader VOJTECH FIALA (Войтех Фиала). „If they can train and make competitions during the bodybuilding prohibition, why we can not? We need to find out the way“.
As we mentioned above, the main author of negative articles about bodybuilding was a former Russian (R.S.F.S.R., Р.С.Ф.С.Р.) weightlifter journalist DMITRIJ IVANOV (Дмитрий Иванов). DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS wanted to know who is behind him. DMITRIJ IVANOW always based his articles on the 1973 -01-24 order of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) to prohibit bodybuilding.
Then DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started correspondence with DMITRIJ IVANOV. Unfortunately the new strict order to prohibit bodybuilding of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport appeared on December 5, 1977. The order No. 1229 was issued by the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport Mr. PAVLOV (Председатель комитета по физической культуре и спорту при Совете Министров С.С.С.Р. С.П.ПАВЛОВ). The order said that nevertheless of the 1973 order to prohibit bodybuilding the sport still was alive. In a number of places bodybuilders trained underground and even organized competitions. The Minister wanted to control them. He ordered to go on prohibiting training in gyms and organizing competitons. The Minister told the U.S.S.R. Scientific Institute of the Research of the Phisycal Culture (V.N.I.I.F.K., В.Н.И.И.Ф.К., Всесоюзный научно исследовательский институт физической культуры) to develop training methodics for bodybuilders. The methodics should be according the requirements of the Ministry. To control how the new order is fulfilled the Minister appointed his assistant Mr. IVANOV (Главное управление физического воспитания населения) pirmininkas L.V.IVANOVAS (Л.В.Иванов).
Just after the order of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport the same orders were issued in the Ministries of the Socialist Republics. In 1977 Ministry of Sport of the Lithuanian SSR (Lietuvos TSR sporto komitetas prie Lietuvos TSR Ministrų Tarybos) issued the same order to prohibit bodybuilding and to prosecute the bodybuilders. The order was signed by the Deputy Minister ALGIMANTAS KUKSTA (Альгимантас Кукшта).
Then to stop bodybuilding prohibition DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started correspondence with the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport direct. To discuss the matter he asked the Ministry to arrange a meeting with bodybuilding organizers. Dsc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received the answer to his letter from the Deputy Minister of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport Mr.IVONIN (Заместитель председателя министерства спорта С.С.С.Р. В.А.ИВОНИН). The answer of the Deputy Minister was negative. For DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was left the only one way – to address the „bosses“ of the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport. That were the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) and the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.).
DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS VISITED MINISTER OF SPORT.
After evaluating the risks DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Др. Эдмундас Даубарас) decided to go to Moscow.
Before going to Moscow DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS found the possibility to visit Minister of Sport of the Lithuanian SSR (Lietuvos TSR Kūno kultūros ir sporto komiteto prie Lietuvos TSR Ministrų Tarybos pirmininkas) Mr. ZIGMAS MOTIEKAITIS (Зигмас Мотекайтис, 1936).
At the meeting DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke about his planned visit to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.). Also both spoke about the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to fight against bodybuilding prohibition. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS spoke to the Minister about the easy situation for bodybuilding in the Czechoslovakia SSR and Estonian SSR (Чехословацкая ССР и Эстонская ССР). The Minister was stable – the order of the U.S.S.R. Minister of Sport to prohibit bodybuilding is above everything.
The Minister advised DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS not to go to Moscow and not to present his petition to defend bodybuilding sport. Mr. ZIGMAS MOTIEKAITIS was sure that after this DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS will be punished.
DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS PETITION AGAINST BODYBUILDING PROHIBITION.
The situation of bodybuilding sport was very complicated after the 1977 bodybuilding prohibiting Order No. 1229 of the Minister of Sport of the U.S.S.R. S.P.PAVLOV (Председатель комитета по физической культуре и спорту при Совете Министров С.С.С.Р. С.П.ПАВЛОВ) and after the same orders of the Ministries of Sport of the Socialist Republics. Most thought that bodybuilding is finished. Then DSc. Edmundas Daubaras risked to fight against bodybuilding prohibition and wrote a thirteen pages petition. Was he afraid? Yes. But the wish to free bodybuilding was bigger than the fear.
It was not possible to send the petition by post. All letters addressed to the high political institutions of the U.S.S.R. were stopped by the local services. DSc. Edmundas Daubaras had to go to Moscow personally of to present his petition himself. So he did. DSc. Edmundas Daubaras went to Moscow and presented the petition to the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.), to the U.S.S.R. Supreme Council (Верховный Совет С.С.С.Р.) and the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. cental political newspapers „Pravda“ («Правда») and „Izvestija“ («Известия»).
In front of the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council K.G.B. agents stopped DSc. Edmundas Daubaras. They spoke about the aims of the visit and scrutinized the petition. After that they let DSc. Edmundas Daubaras go inside the building.

The petition was politisized. Otherwise nobody even would read it. DSc. Edmundas Daubaras explained the situation of bodybuilding in the World, Socialist countries and the U.S.S.R.. He underlined the positive sides of bodybuilding sport.
Big part of the petiton was discussion over the above mentioned Order No. 1229 of the Minister of Sport of the U.S.S.R. S.P.PAVLOV. also DSc. Edmundas Daubaras discussed the unreal facts presented by journalist DMITRIJ IVANOV (Дмитрий Иванов) in his „Sovetskij Sport“ («Советский спорт») article „Izlom“ («Излом»).
Covering the topic DSc. Edmundas Daubaras suggested to organize a common meeting of the representatives of the Ministry of Sporto f the U.S.S.R., the V.N.I.I.F.K. (В.Н.И.И.Ф.К., Всесоюзный научно исследовательский институт физической культуры) and bodybuilders. All bodybuilding questions could be discussed and the solution could be found.
RESULTS OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS DEFENDING BODYBUILDING PETITION.
So, in 1978 finally the petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to defend bodybuilding sport was personally by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS presented to Moscow (Capital of the U.S.S.R.). The addresses were the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической партии С.С.С.Р.) and the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.). After it DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS returned from Moscow to Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR). What was next? Punishment? Prosecution? Loosing job? There was a two week silence. Once the phone at the appartment of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS rang. It was the Chairman of the Propaganda department of the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party who spoke to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The Chairman was interested in the details of the petition.
After some days DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS received another call from Moscow. The same Chairman asked about the details of the petition again. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was tensious as the high representative of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party said nothing definite to him.
Suddenly the telephone of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was swiched off and through his work he was invited to the Headquarters of the Depertments of the Communist Party of Klaipeda City. The Chairman of the Department of the Communist Party of Klaipeda City JONAS GURECKAS (Секретарь комитета коммунистической партии г. Клайпеда Ионас Гурецкас) met DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS in person. During a long discussion DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS told him about his voyage to Moscow, abouth the bodybuilding in the World, in the the U.S.S.R., in the Lithuanian SSR and in Klaipeda City. Finally the Chairman JONAS GURECKAS told to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to stop contacting High Officials of the U.S.S.R.. He said DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS that they permit him to organize bodybuilding competitions in Klaipeda City. Bodybuilders had to train in several definite gyms which were controlled by the Municipal Department of Sport of Klaipeda.
Unexpected decission of the U.S.S.R. Highest Officials was really shocking. The petition of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS rised the question of bodybuilding on such high political and governmental levels. This way the positive decission was got. That was the VICTORY. That was the Victory of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS, of the World bodybuilding, of the bodybuilding in Socialist Countries, of the U.S.S.R. bodybuilding and bodybuilding in the Lithuanian SSR as well. The prohibition of bodybuilding in the U.S.S.R. still egzisted, the prosecution of it in the Socialist Countries went on. But the permition to train and to organize official bodybuilding contests in Klaipeda City was received.
In 2011 the Official Meeting of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) Interantional President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was organized in Vatican. Listening about “Amber Prix International” (“Gintarinis prizas”, “Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023) during the years of prohibition of sport in the Socialist Countries Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO evaluated efforts of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and named him as „dissident of the Communist regime“. The Vatican Congregat Perfect J. Em. JOZEF KARDINAL TOMKO presented the Vatican Pontific Medal (Medaglia Ufficiale di Pontificato di Sua Santita Benedetto XVI) to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS (Headquarters State Vatican, Cita del Vaticano, March 29, 2011). But about this we will speak later.
WHEN BODYBUILDING WAS PROHIBITED.
IN 1978 „AMBER PRIX“ BECAME OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING CONTEST.
We have mentioned something before but there are some items to underline again.
In 1973 bodybuilding sport was prohibited in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries. The only one Contest was allowed – that was the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно, 1971- 1989, Tallinn, Estonian SSR, see our previous articles). Due to bodybuilding prohibition the „Georg Tenno Memorial“ also was not regular. In 1973 and in 1975 Estonians could not manage to organize the Competition.
After bodybuilding prohibition started in the eighties of the last century only few underground International Contests were organized. Hiding of prosecution in 1974 in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized the „Amber Prix“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2023) in a bomb shelter. The Over All Winner was VYTAUTAS ZENKEVICIUS (Витаутас Зенкявичус). In 1975 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized „Amber Prix“ at one of Klaipeda secondary schools. The Over All Winner was RICARDAS KRINICKIS (Ричардас Криницкис, Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR). Both Contests were illegal and without any public. Just to be on the safe side both Contests were held with power exercises.
In 1976 the International Contest was organized in Kalinin (now Tver, Russian Federation, Тверь, Р.С.Ф.С.Р.). The Over All Winner was RICARDAS KRINICKIS. Competition was done illegaly without public in a local gym.
In 1976 the International Contest was organized in Kaunas (Lithuanian SSR). It was done in a factory outside the city. The Over All Winner was OLEV ANNUS (Estonian SSR, Олев Аннус). Also this contest was illegal and without public.
In 1976 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized „Amber Prix“ in a small Lithuanian city of Telsiai. It was held together with power exercises. The same way several „Georg Tenno Momorials“ were held in Estonia by INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1946 – 2002). Though the sport was prohibited, DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS managed to press the Telsiai administration and it permitted to do the Competition finals in a city Palace of Culture. The hall was full of spectators. The Over All Winner was RICARDAS KRINICKIS.
In 1977 the International Contest was organized in a small city of Kedainiai. The venue place was a local gym. The Competition was without public. Category Winners were EUGENE GORELIK (Евгений Горелик), RICARDAS KRINICKIS and OLEV ANNUS. The Over All Winner was OLEV ANNUS.
Paying no attention to bodybuilding prohibition DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS organized 1977 the „Lithuania Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок Литовской ССР»). Also in the same 1977 year he organized the „Amber Prix“. Both competitions were done in public. Both were organized with a crowd of spectators in the Palace of Culture of Klaipeda Port (дворец культуры Клайпедского морского торгового порта). The Category Winners of the „Amber Рrix“ were EUGENE GORELIK, RISARDAS KRINICKIS and STASYS CUKANOVAS (Стасис Цукановас). Then the Over All Winner of „Amber Prix“ was STASYS CUKANOVAS (Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR). At before in 1972, 1974 at the „Goerg Tenno Memorial“ all „Amber Prix“ first places went to the representatives of the famous „Vilnius Bodybuilding School“ («Вильнюсская школа культуризма»). The School was led by CESLAV TAMULEVICH (Чеслав Тамулевич) and VITALIJ ASOVSKIJ (Виталий Асовский).
To celebrate 10 years of a local gym in 1978 another illegal Contest was organized in Kaunas. Again it was illegal and without public.
This way we reached the time when in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS under his risk wrote the petition and personally brought it to the Capital of the U.S.S.R. Moscow. The petition was to defend the bodybuilding sport (петиция Др. Эдмундаса Даубараса в защиту культуризма). DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS presented the petition to the U.S.S.R. Central Committee of the Communist Party (Центральный Комитет Коммунистической Партии С.С.С.Р.) and to the U.S.S.R. Ministry Council (Совет Министров С.С.С.Р.). As a result of this the Communist Party gave permittion to train for bodybuilders of Klaipeda city. Also DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was permitted to organize „Amber prix“ competition in Klaipeda.
PETITION OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS BROKE PROHIBITION OF BODYBUILDING.

It is evident that most bodybuilders do not know the history of bodybuilding. Most take as a surprise what we are presenting in our articles. Somenow it is a historic shock for them. We are presenting here the final results of the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ (‚Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 - 2023) until the authors of the „World Bodybuilding Encyclopedia“ („Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija“, «Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма») are working on with the folowing historic materials. We must underline that this contest was held during the severe prosecution of bodybuilding. As the specialists and historians of bodybuilding say the 1978 „Amber Prix International“ was the unofficial „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ („neoficialus T.S.R.S. kultūrizmo čempionatas“, «неофициальный чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму»). And after the 1978 this contest remained the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ until 1988 (in 1988 the first U.S.S.R. Official Cup of Bodybuilding was held, „первый официальный кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму“). Later the U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport (U.S.S.R. Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) recognized the „Amber Prix International“ as it had been the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“. By the way the stage of the 1978 competition, prizes and medals were decorated as the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship“ - „Amber Prix“.

Working since 1968 W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International unites today members from 141 Countries. W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. knows the way to reach these goals. Under the basis of W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. the International Sport University (I.S.U.) was created in 2015. Since 2017 the I.S.U. university is an associated member of the U.N.E.S.C.O. organization which works under the U.N..
OTHER INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING ORGANIZATIONS.
We will not speak about other federations. Concerning real recognized sport their activities are of zero value. Zero... We mean real SPORT and nothing else. Every day appear some new „international federations“... They have never been in real recognized sport and they will never be there. What are the „great“ aims of these federations? Can anybody say? Why these federations live and what they want?
If You want official bodybuilding sport – there was F.I.H.C. (Fédération Internationale Haltérophile et Culturiste) which ruled official bodybuilding sport in the World. Since 1947 until 1969 due to efforts of American BOB HOFFMAN (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985) through the F.I.H.C. federation bodybuilding was an officially recognized sport and it was very close to be Olympic. Since 1971 until 1998 F.I.H.C. was replaced by the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). If You want real big not recognized not suppoerted anytime anywhere muscle battle – since 1950 You have N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association). What else a bodybuilder could dream of? Why appeared so many „mickey – mouse“ federations? Let us take as an example Lithuanian Republic. There are representatives of several „mickey – mouse“ federations. They make various festivals and they are proud of this. Where it could lead? To the festivals in other countries? Are they participanting bodybuilders or they are „singers and dancers“ of the „song and dance festivals“? What is the official status of these federations? What is official status of their festivals? Really it is not sport.
For example, let us speak of last forty years of the Independent Lithuania Republic. What are the Great Bodybuilding Names of that period? That are the only ones – I.F.B.B. Over All World Champions NATALIJA MURNIKOVIENE, ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS, ROLANDAS POCIUS and OLEG ZUR. Disaster came to this sport when twenty years ago WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN left bodybuilding. All contemporary „World Champions“ can not be compared to any of the mentioned bodybuilders. During the „Weider times“ bodybuilding was sport since 1971 until 1998. It was a recognized sport. Now – not! Sport is finished for all times. The above mentioned Lithuanian bodybuilders were representing sport and their achievements were official. Today’s I.F.B.B. “world champions” are of zero value if we speak about sport. The aim of contemporary National I.F.B.B. federation is to go on fooling Ministry of Sport of Lithuania and this way go on receiving governmental money for their activities. And their activities according the I.O.C. official statement already long ago are not sport anymore. Nobody knows the names of today’s “world champions”. Nobody even tries to know.
SHORT HISTORY OF WORLD’S OFFICIAL BODYBUILDING SPORT.
F.I.H.C. was a member of the I.O.C. and it influenced the „U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») to set the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ (Comission, «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») in 1963. The federation was set at the „U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation“ («Федерация тяжёлой атлетики С.С.С.Р.»). After 1973 bodybuilding prohibition in the U.S.S.R. and Socialist Countries bodybuilding was prosecuted for twenty years. During this time in the „Western World“ official recognized bodybuilding sport was led by the I.F.B.B. and not recognized bodybuilding activities were ruled by N.A.B.B.A.. At the same time in the Socialist World public U.S.S.R. bodybuilding lived and survived in the Estonian SSR only through „Georg Tenno Memorial“ («Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 - 2024) contest organized by INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1945 – 2002) and in the Lithuanian SSR only through the „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinio prizo“ «Янтарный приз», 1968 - 2025) organized by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. During the prohibition years for political reasons it was not possible to set any International Bodybuilding Organization in the U.S.S.R.. Nevertheless DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS initiated official registration of „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ („Klaipėdos kultūrizmo federacija“, «Федерация культуризма г. Клайпеда»). It was registered at the governmental „Klaipeda Sport Committee“ („Kūno kultūros ir sporto komitetas“, «Комитет физкультуры и спорта г. Клайпеда»). In all the U.S.S.R bodybuilding was prohibited and at the same time in Klaipeda bodybuilding was allowed. For many years „Klaipeda Bodybuilding Federation“ was the only one officially registered bodybuilding federation in the U.S.S.R.. This was the reason that all World‘s Bodybuilding leaders were in touch and correspondence with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. That were I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER, N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) Chairman OSCAR HEIDENSTAM and W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) President SERGE NUBRET. In 1970 F.I.H.C. General Secretary British OSCAR STATE created the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) sport federation in Belgrade (Yugoslavia). Until 1970 I.F.B.B. was just a private commercial company, not sport federation. In 1971 again OSCAR STATE opened doors of G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) to the I.F.B.B.. This way from and after the F.I.H.C. the I.F.B.B. took ruling leadership of the International official sport of bodybuilding. International sport was in shock. Soon in the USA was organized the A.A.U. International Council to stop I.F.B.B. membership in G.A.I.S.F.. I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER was present there. He was ready to join the A.A.U. with his new I.F.B.B.. The delegates did not listen to BEN WEIDER and voted not to let him to speak.
Fall of bodybuilding sport started in 1998 when after two years trial I.O.C. refused to recognize the I.F.B.B. federation and bodybuilding sport in general. Bodybuilding was thrown out of the officially recognized sports. Seeing no future WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN sold the I.F.B.B. federation, „Olympia“ contest and all their magazines. In 2008 I.F.B.B. split. I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore) left the I.F.B.B. of RAFAEL SANTONJA. PAUL CHUA took forty Asia Countries with him. Then PAUL CHUA and the Lower and financist of I.F.B.B. ALEX BAUER published I.F.B.B. juridical and finance documents. There was a big scandal about it. PAUL CHUA and RAFAEL SANTONJA met at International Court of London (UK) where RAFAEL SANTAONJA lost the case. In 2015 I.F.B.B. split again. During N.P.C. (National Physique Committee) professional contest I.F.B.B. President RAFAEL SANTONJA was offended and left America with tears. After this he never came to America again. So after 2015 N.P.C. of JIM MANION came to International Bodybuilding Stage. Since that time because of fierce fight between RAFAEL SANTONJA and JIM MANION bodybuilding sport was finished in total. There is no sport of bodybuilding today any more. Along to this the I.F.B.B. commercial company still goes on working. Nobody is interested in sport – only money... In 2023 G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) was closed and I.F.B.B. lost it‘s last formal officiality. For many years I.F.B.B. propaganda was based only on G.A.I.S.F.. In 2023 W.A.D.A. declared stopping work with I.F.B.B..

I.F.B.B. FINANCES.
During the times of WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN the I.F.B.B. was seeking Olympic (I.O.C.) recognition. The game of money flows between the I.F.B.B. sport federation and the I.F.B.B. commercial company was active. Now this game is not needed any more when bodybuilding is no more recognized sport. The I.F.B.B. crisis of 1990 was gone when many Socialist Countries joined the I.F.B.B.. It was not an ordinary joining. Socialist Countries came with governmental money. During all history of bodybuilding Ministries of Sport of any democratic country never supported financially bodybuilding. The exception was when World‘s bodybuilding sport was led by the F.I.H.C. federation which was I.O.C. member. Another case was when the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“( «Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») was set in 1987. Then bodybuilding sport got governmental recognition and governmental money. All other Socialist Countries did the same. Even now when bodybuilding is not sport any more former Socialist Countries use to finance national bodybuilding federations with governmental money. Except this - governmental money still comes to the I.F.B.B. through Asia Countries. Basic reason is that from the old F.I.H.C. times Asia bodybuilding federations are under national weightlifting federations which are I.O.C. members. Only this. There are no more sources of governmental money in the I.F.B.B.. We are sure that when National Sport Ministries will learn the truth about the I.F.B.B. the governmental financing will be stopped. During the last years on national governmental money I.F.B.B. makes comedy „world championships“, like it was in Latvia and Lithuania. Also remember big scandal about the I.F.B.B. Asia Championship in India with 5-6 Countries participating... Some time ago a big scandal was in Ukraine. The Ukraine I.F.B.B. President IGOR DELIJEV (Делиев Игорь) disappeared with five hundred thousand US dollars governmental bodybuilding support. Also let us remember big scandals with the RAFAEL SANTONJA‘s assistant Polish PAWEL FILEBORN.
COLUMBUS IS BACK.
Under the leadership of JIM MANION in 1983 some A.A.U. bodybuilders left the organization. For long years A.A.U. was supported by the USA Sport Ministry and the USA Olympic Committee. In 1983 JIM MANION set his private company N.P.C.. Until that time there was a fierce fight between I.F.B.B. and A.A.U.. In 1983 I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER and the owner of the new N.P.C. JIM MANION agreed to divide the bodybuilding world. It was like 1939 agreement between ADOLF HITLER and Communist STALIN. Amateur bodybuilding in the USA went to JIM MANION, the rest of the World went to the G.A.I.S.F. member I.F.B.B. of BEN WEIDER. Professional bodybuilding as a private commercial activity went to JOE WEIDER. He continued his private “Olympia” competition which always had nothing to do with official recognized bodybuilding sport. That was the game of WEIDER brothers. JIM MANION kept his promise and never touched any questions of his agreement with BEN WEIDER. When WEIDER brothers left bodybuilding and passed away JIM MANION changed his mind. In 2015 during a professional contest in the USA I.F.B.B. President RAFAEL SANTONJA was offended and left America forever. So aiming to finish the I.F.B.B. of RAFAEL SANTONJA now N.P.C. goes aggressively through the World.
Today the I.F.B.B. and N.P.C. make many festivals around the World. Yes, festivals, not competitions. Sport is finished and forgotten. N.P.C. play games with „Olympia“ festivals and I.F.B.B. play with „Arnold Classic“ festivals. RAFAEL SANTONJA is hiding behind the name of ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. These festivals have nothing connected with real recognized sport. We can say they are like “festivals of dancers and singers” but not sport. Fine – if bodybuilders like it. No International Official Sport Organizations see there any sport. No serious Institutions of any Country recognize them as sport. Long ago CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS came to America and used to change various worthless things to real gold with local Indians. Now the N.P.C. and I.F.B.B. festival organizers do the same. Bodybuilders are fooled. They forgot the sport and started being “singers” and “dancers”…
OUTSTANDING SOVIET BODYBUILDING THEORETICS AND PRACTICS.
Analyzing today‘s situation we can underline that the officially recognized „Socialist“ bodybuilding of eighties of the last Century was very close to the International Sport Standards and it could lead bodybuilding even to Olympics. Then bodybuilders thought, made decisions and saw real goals of the future. The movement was based on the theoretical and practical works of the leaders of famous „Vilnius Bodybuilding School“ («Вильнюсская школа культуризма», “Vilniaus kultūrizmo mokykla”) CESLAV TAMULEVIC (Чеслав Тамулевич) and VITALIJ ASOVSKIJ (Виталий Асовский). At that time contest halls were full of spectators. Now nobody goes to watch bodybuilding competitions – they are boring and not interesting. Contemporary bodybuilders can only dream about normal relations with society. Comparing with that mentioned above time even today bodybuilding is at the very primitive level. Joining the „Western“ bodybuilding „Socialist“ bodybuilding lost it‘s identity and nice future and it was eaten by „West“ organizers.
We do not say that bodybuilders are stupid. Bodybuilders do not think and do not see the essence. Look around and start thinking!

It was easy until fall of the Socialist World: since 1971 until 1998 I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) represented officially recognized sport and since 1950 N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) represented never officially recognized bodybuilding. We will make a number of unexpected articles on the history of N.A.B.B.A. in the nearest future. You will learn things You never dreamed of...
BEGINNING OF N.A.B.B.A..
BOB HOFFMAN BROUGHT BODYBUILDING TO LONDON.
Since 1947 until 1969 World’s official bodybuilding sport was ruled by F.I.H.C. (Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste). F.I.H.C. was a member of International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). Mostly due to the efforts of American BOB HOFFMAN(Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985 m.) the first F.I.H.C. “Mr. Universe” contest was organized in the USA in 1947. Basing on the support of the I.O.C. the 1948 F.I.H.C. “Mr. Universe” was organized in London together with the “London Olympic Games”. Together with BOB HOFFMAN local organizers of the 1948 F.I.H.C. “Mr. Universe” in London were B.A.W.L.A. (British Amateur Weight Lifting Association) and representatives of local British magazine “Health and Strength”. Full of emotions of the 1948 F.I.H.C. “Mr. Universe” Britishers established N.A.B.B.A. association in 1950. The N.A.B.B.A. name was copied from B.A.W.L.A.. In the same 1950 N.A.B.B.A. held it’s first “Mr. Universe” in London. Anyway until F.I.H.C. .stopped ruling official bodybuilding sport in 1969 N.A.B.B.A. and private I.F.B.B. Commercial Company could not pretend to any recognition.
SHORTLY ABOUT N.A.B.B.A..
Speaking about federations what is more important - bodybuilders or organizers? Every part is important as it can not survive without another one. We will underline organizers of federation. Bodybuilders often participate at various federations and in most cases they can not represent any of them.
F.I.H.C. and A..A.U. (Amateur Athletes Union) American bodybuilders led by BOB HOFFMAN were N.A.B.B.A. leading participants for a long time. Many years bodybuilders of BOB HOFFMAN were participating at N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universe” and many years Europeans could not win against them. The basic reason was that American weightlifters started using steroids first. Americans were much ahead of Europe in this field.
In the nineties of the last century N.A.B.B.A. Chairman British OSCAR HEIDENSTAM was the European bodybuilding leader. At that time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started correspondence with him.
In 1990 after “Miss Olympia” in New York (USA) I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER refused to support the Independence of the Republic of Lithuania. He did not accept bodybuilders of Lithuania in his I.F.B.B. federation. BEN WEIDER was on the U.S.S.R. Side. This was the reason that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS decided to join N.A.B.B.A. association.
Everything seemed very optimistic - we got FREEDOM... at that tome our knowledge about International Bodybuilding Federations was zero. To get the information during next twenty years we had to press leaders of these organizations. Finally we learned that there were much lies and even stupid things in those organizations. And still are... Only today we are the only ones who speak truth about this.
In 1991 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and best Lithuania bodybuilders of that time joined N.A.B.B.A. and participated at the N.A.B.B.A. Europe Championship in Epinal (France). Then Lithuanians ROLANDAS BUCINSKAS and NATALIA MURNIKOVIENE became N.A.B.B.A. Europe Champions. That were the first Champions in the history of Independent Republic Lithuania.
N.A.B.B.A. WAS ONE, BET THERE WERE THREE N.A.B.B.A. PRESIDENTS.
When in 1991 OSCAR HEIDENSTAM died, for two decades N.A.B.B.A. was ruled by Irish IVAN DUNBAR. Though IVAN DUNBAR was not a strong personality but he was very loyal to N.A.B.B.A.. That was the reason that in 1999 N.A.B.B.A. had three Presidents at one time. They were IVAN DUNBAR, German KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN and Australian JOE LOPEZ. It was interesting to observe when all three “presidents” were in conflict in between when annual fee was collected from national members. Every of them tried to be first to take the money. N.A.B.B.A. Lithuania (Lietuvos Nacionalinė Kultūrizmo Asociacija) was registered officially at the Ministry of Law of the Republic Lithuania. We had to go to N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universes” paid by money of the Ministry of Sport Lithuania. To prove the expenses (fees, traveling money, hotel costs) journey documents and final results of competitions had to be signed and sealed by N.A.B.B.A. Officials. For many years IVAN DUNBAR tried to escape of this. Finally DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS pressed him and IVAN DUNBAR told that N.A.B.B.A. is registered as a “public club” and there is no “Association of N.A.B.B.A.” in reality. It lasted until the Russians made a false seal of N.A.B.B.A. and presented it to IVAN DUNBAR. Three N.A.B.B.A. presidents always fighted in between and always addressed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to support each of them against others.
N.A.B.B.A. WAS SPLIT. TWO N.A.B.B.A. ORGANIZATIONS.
Ending the last Century Australian JOE LOPEZ was very active among N.A.B.B.A. leaders. He wanted to be the only one N.A.B.B.A. Chairman and often was in conflict with KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN and IVAN DUNBAR. 1999 N.A.B.B.A. World Championship was organized in Austria. At the same time N.A.B.B.A. Congress was held too. Plus to tension between three N.A.B.B.A. Chairmen one more dirty happening happened. N.A.B.B.A. financist TONY SULLYVAN disappeared with N.A.B.B.A. money. KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN and IVAN DUNBAR did not want to speak about the N.A.B.B.A. problems and asked DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to do it. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS often used to make hours long speeches at N.A.B.B.A. congresses so hi did it again this time too. After it big mess started at the congress. JOE LOPEZ informed that the leaves N.A.B.B.A. with a number of countries and creates his own “N.A.B.B.A. International”. This way several years in a row JOE LOPEZ organized his own N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universe” contests in Spain. It did not last long as soon JOE LOPEZ was accused with smuggling narcotics and went to prison. This way history of “N.A.B.B.A. - International” was very short.
N.A.B.B.A. - WHAT IS IT? WE MAKE CONCLUSIONS.
Since when OSCAR HEIDENSTAM died in 1991 there were no more noticeable International persons in N.A.B.B.A.. N.A.B.B.A. never had any ambitious aims and any great future plans. N.A.B.B.A. always stay in one place and never goes ahead.
N.A.B.B.A. started long ago as a never officially recognized organization. Nothing changed. It is the same today on International level. Anyway among a hundred today egzisting International bodybuilding organizations N.A.B.B.A. always was the greatest historically non recognized bodybuilding society. In 1998 International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) threw away the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) federation. Since that time bodybuilding is no more sport. In 2023 G.A.I.S.F. (Global Association of International Sports Federations) was closed and by law on official level the I.F.B.B. has nothing better as N.A.B.B.A.. Yes, fooling Ministries of Sport of former Socialist countries National I.F.B.B. federations go on receiving comparatively big government’s money. We do not speak about a hundred “mickey - mouse” federations which appeared today. They are a zero in the World’s International Bodybuilding movement. No aims, no future. Why they are? Where they are going? Try to answer this question.

58 years working W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) International is directly connected with the „Amber Prix International“ («Янтарный приз», „Gintarinia prizas“, 1968 - 2025) contest. „Amber Prix International“ is one of the World‘s oldest traditional historic competition still organized in the World. The value of the „Amber Prix International“ was alvays evident and always many known sport organizers of various Countries use to be present there.
Through all history of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. good relations of the International W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and the historic bodybuilding leaders of the all main traditional International Bodybuilding organizations were in the background. And that were the Owner and the President of International I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) BEN WEIDER, the President of N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) OSCAR HEIDENSTAM, the President of W.A.B.B.A. (World Amateur Body Building Association) International SERGE NUBRET.
There were moments in the history of the World Bodybuilding when the International leaders connected DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for friendly help and assistance.
In 1970 at the I.F.B.B. Belgrade (Yugoslavia) International Congress SERGE NUBRET was appointed to the position of the I.F.B.B. Vice President. In 1976 SERGE NUBRET set another International organization of W.A.B.B.A. as he explains „to fight with the I.F.B.B.“. Then the conflict between BEN WEIDER and SERGE NUBRET reached the highest point in the Court. Then in 1985 SERGE NUBRET sent to DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS twenty pages of the confident I.F.B.B. documents asking to support him. That was very personal information about BEN WEIDER and we never published this anywhere.
The I.F.B.B. International and the I.F.B.B. U.S.S.R. (established in 1987) as well always were suffering of inside intriques and conflicts. First let us remember the famous weightlifting Olympic Champion JURIJ VLASOV (Юрий Власов) and how badly he was treated when he was elected to the position of the President of the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation. In 1991 President of the U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation VASILIJ CHAIKOVSKI (Василий Чайковский) was removed from his position by VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин). Feeling frustrated of this unfair action VASILIJ CHAIKOVSKIJ imediatelly came to Lithuania. He was looking for support of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS in his relations with BEN WEIDER.
Fifteen years ago understanding that International Bodybuilding Sport is in awful situation WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN sold their magazines and „Olympia“ Contest and got rid of the I.F.B.B.. After this WAYNE DE MILIA was dismissed from the position of the Director of the I.F.B.B. Professional League. Until that he run this position for many years. Then in 2006 WAYNE DE MILIA established his own organization „Pro Division Inc.“ and addressed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to support him. From that time we have heard nothing about „Pro Division Inc.“.
Fighting in between in 2009 and in 2015 I.F.B.B. split two times. First I.F.B.B. was divided between assistant of BEN WEIDER Spanish RAFAEL SANTONJA and the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA from Singapore. At that moment PAUL CHUA was supported only by fifty Asia and Arab Countries. At that time they had idea even to join the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International. Then PAUL CHUA and Sheikh of UAE AL SHAFAR came to London (U.K.) to fight with RAFAEL SANTONJA in the Court. PAUL CHUA addressed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to support him, but DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could not come to London as there was European Championship in Lithuania at that time. Also PAUL CHUA and Sheikh AL SHAFAR could not come to Lithuania as they had no E.U. visas. The deal was closed. Some time later PAUL CHUA and the I.F.B.B. Lower ALEX BAUER (Austria) sent 600 pages of I.F.B.B. juridical and financial documents and asked to publish them. We did it as they asked.
In 1991 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and German KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN started a new International W.F.F. federation. Both were basing on the since 1968 still lasting history of „Amber Prix International“ and basing on various sport organizations that were connected with it. In 2014 KLAUS P.J. HOFFMANN closed his part of the W.F.F. federation. At the same time part of the W.F.F. International led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS continued working. In 2005 it was transformed to W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International. Today W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. unites 140 countries that represent all Continents.
Some years ago Australian GRAEME LANCEFIELD established his own W.F.F. federation. To feel important for the International sport GRAEME LANCEFIELD used the history of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. as his own. Though he still does not know a single historical step of the real W.F.F.. The real W.F.F. International history started in 1968 in Lithuanian SSR.
GRAEME LANCEFIELD started collecting N.A.B.B.A. athletes to his own contests using the N.A.B.B.A. name. N.A.B.B.A. leaders were angry about this. Then in 2018 the President of the N.A.B.B.A. U.S.A. and a famous I.F.B.B. professional bodybuilder EDDIE ROBINSON addressed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to support N.A.B.B.A. in fighting against unfair behavior of GRAEME LANCEFIELD. After this GRAEME LANCEFIELD continued acting against N.A.B.B.A.. At the beginning of 2020 the President N.A.B.B.A. International and a famous U.K. Professional bodybuilder ED ELWOOD asked DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS to support N.A.B.B.A. against GRAEME LANCEFIELD again. To help N.A.B.B.A. we wrote and published a thorough article about this.
Different of other International Bodybuilding Organizations today W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. seeks huge aims to make bodybuilding recognized and respected. Our sport became so much commercial that today we are the only ones to fulfill the old dreams of our friends BEN WEIDER and OSCAR HEIDENSTAM.

66 YEARS OF SOCIALIST BODYBUILDING.
BEGINNING.
Until now official World and Socialist bodybuilding history is presented as a mistake. The basis of the history is incorrect. It is a mistake when we use to say that bodybuilders built and developed sport of bodybuilding. No, not bodybuilders. Bodybuilders were training and participating at the competitions only. Do winning bodybuilders developed sport anyhow? No, not at all. For bodybuilders somebody else had to organize competitions, to get permeations, support, venue places, awards and to collect participants. To say more – somebody had to publicize information about contests and bodybuilders. Otherwise until now nobody would even hear anything about a single bodybuilder.
All bodybuilding organizations, federations were created not by bodybuilders. Organizations were created by functioneers and organizers. During the history of bodybuilding sport there were only few Internationally important persons - organizers. Organizers are the main persons of bodybuilding sport. We will speak shortly in this article. Anyway it will be a long story to put it down.
BEGINNING OF BODYBUILDING SPORT.

Contemporary N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) history writer SI SWEENEY in his articles even does not mention the real first “Mr. Universe” contest. Also he writes incorrect information about the second “Mr. Universe” competition.
The same do writers who write about the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) history. These they underline that there was nothing before the WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN I.F.B.B. Commercial Company. They neglect the previous BOB HOFFMAN’s (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985 m.) “Bodybuilding Empire” which WEIDER brothers copied from beginning to the very end.
Many people want to rise themselves and they create unreal stories. Next followers use their creations and go on developing them.
1947. FIRST “MR. UNIVERSE” CONTEST.
The first real “Bodybuilding Empire” was created through the A.A.U. (Amateur Athletic Union) in the USA by American BOBO HOFFMAN. In real A.A.U. united USA National Federations and it was the Ministry of Sport in the USA. They use to call BOBO HOFFMAN “the father of America Weightlifting”. A.A.U. since 1939 was organizing USA bodybuilding “Mr. America” contests. BOB HOFFMAN wanted to make bodybuilding an official recognized sport through A.A.U. and F.I.H. (Federation Internationale Halterophile). USA weightlifting though A.A.U. was a member of the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H. Later F.I.H. name was changed to F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturisme) when F.I.H. started ruling World’s bodybuilding sport. BOB HOFFMAN decided to do the same with bodybuilding.
In 1947 F.I.H. organized the World Weightlifting Championship and International Congress in Philadelphia (USA). Under the efforts of BOB HOFFMAN the International Congress decided to lead and control World’s bodybuilding on official level. This way for twenty years bodybuilding became officially recognized sport. It was immediately decided to organize the first in Sport’s History International Bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” contest alongside with the F.I.H. World Weightlifting Championship in Philadelphia. Then the Over All “Mr. Universe” Champion was a pupil of BOB HOFFMAN a famous America weightlifter STEVE STANKO. That was a Historical Happening and STEVE STANKO became a Historical Person.
1948. SECOND “MR. UNIVERSE’ IN LONDON.
It was a tradition of F.I.H. not to organize World Weightlifting Championship in “Olympic” years. What to do with the second F.I.H. bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ competition? Then the idea to organize the F.I.H. bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” during the 1948 “Olympic Games” struck BOB HOFFMAN. There were real ways because F.I.H. was a member of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). BOB HOFFMAN addressed British OSCAR STATE who was the President of B.A.W.L.A. (British Amateur Weight Lifting Association) to assist him. At the same time B.A.W.L.A. asked the Chairmen of the British Bodybuilding “Health and Strength” Magazine to assist them too. Through F.I.H. departments in various countries B.A.W.L.A. invited athletes to the contest in London. At the same time BOB HOFFMAN brought USA bodybuilders to compete. There were 1800 spectators at the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe” in London. All money profit of the competition went to B.A.W.L.A.. After several preliminary rounds the finalists were ANDRE DRAPP (France) and Americans JOHN GRIMEK and STEVE REEVES. JOHN GRIMEK was proclaimed the Over All Winner of the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe”. STEVE REEVES spoke on microphone saying that “John Grimek is the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived“.
1950. FIRST N.A.B.B.A. “MR. UNIVERSE”.
In 1950 under the efforts of the Chairmen of “Health and Strength” Magazine N.A.B.B.A. association was created in the Great Britain. As the former N.A.B.B.A. President IVAN DUNBAR told us – N.A.B.B.A. Association was juridically registered as a „Public Club“. In 1950 N.A.B.B.A. organized the first “Mr. Universe” in London. The Over All Champion was STEVE REEVES (USA). At the same time a member of the International Olympic Committee F.I.H.C. went on organizing it’s own “Mr. Universe” contest. Comparing with N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universe” F.I.H.C. competitions were the official ones. For the two decades no one could confront F.I.H.C. as the official Bodybuilding Sport was under F.I.H.C. control. Even the Commercial I.F.B.B. Company of the WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN could not imagine to think being equal to F.I.H.C..
1959. BOB HOFFMAN BRINGS BODYBUILDING TO SOCIALIST COUNTRIES.
In 1959 the USA „Father of Weightlifting“ BOB HOFFMAN through the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C. first time brought bodybuilding sport to the Socialist Countries. That was the World Weightlifting Championship in Warszawa - the Capital of the Polish Democratic Republic. Then F.I.H.C. organized the traditional bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ in Warszawa too. Over All Winner was GUY MEIRCZUK (born in 1936, France). Right after this Bodybuilding Committe of Poland was created. First President was the „Father of Polish Bodybuilding“ STANISLAW ZAKRZEWSKI.
IN 1963 FIRST INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING ORGANIZATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN SOCIALIST WORLD.
In 1963 under direct influence American BOB HOFFMAN and British OSCAR STATE and the initiative of the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H., Federation Internationale Halterophile, later F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste, later I.W.F., International Weightlifting Federation) in the U.S.S.R. was established first International Bodybuilding Organization (Общественный комитет атлетической гимнастики С.С.С.Р.). of the Socialist World. The U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry (Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) appointed a known Russia weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз) as the President of this Organization. Then the U.S.S.R. was not ready to face this innovation and the new organization worked only formally. We would like to underline that the I.F.B.B. federation (International Federation of Body Builders) was created only in 1970 in Belgrade (Yugoslavia) by the General Secretary F.I.H.C. OSCAR STATE.
Real bodybuilding started in 1968 when another new Organization was created in Lithuania. Again the formal Chairman of the new Organization was the above mentioned ROMAN MOROZ. He was the man to connect bodybuilders with the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R.. In real bodybuilding sport in the U.S.S.R. was governed by other people. They were Russian GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин) and two Lithuanians VALERIJ KORESHKOV (Валерий Корешков) and VYTAUTAS ZUMERIS.
That were the requirements of the „communist times and the communist regime“.

1990 SOCIALIST BODYBUILDING NEWS.
1990 I.F.B.B. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MALAYSIA.
In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilding was tightly connected with the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders). In 1990 I.F.B.B. federation was celebrating it‘s 20 years anyversary (I.F.B.B. was created by the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste) General Secretary OSCAR STATE in 1970 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Most all sports athletes of Lithuania did not participe at the official U.S.S.R. Championships and the U.S.S.R. National Teams under request of the National Olympic Committee of the Lithuanian SSR (L.T.O.K., Lietuvos Tautinis Olimpinis Komitetas, Национальный Олимпийский комитет Литовской ССР). But not all bodybuilders followed this N.O.C. request. In 1990 U.S.S.R. bodybuilders participated at the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia). As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was invited to Malaysia as a personal quest of the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER. As it was in 1989 during the I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS could take any Lithuanian SSR represitative to accompany him. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took RAMUTIS KAIRAITIS with him as in 1989 Vice President «U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation» («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») ROMANAS KALINAUSKAS behaved rude in Paris. Representatives of the Lithuanian SSR went to Malaysia separate of the U.S.S.R. National Team.
One hundred bodybuilders participated at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship. The contest was very pompastic. For organization of the contest was done huge work of the I.F.B.B. Vice President PAUL CHUA (Singapore). As USA sport specialist BOB GOLDMAN explained, the Malaysia Prime Minister MOHAMAD MAHATHIR gave 3.400 million USA dollars state money for the contest. Also he was present at the competition too. World Championship Category Winners were: EL AMAWY (Egypt), JOSEF DAWSON (USA), WILHELM JASINOWSKI (Germany), ALQ GURLAY (USA), AHIM ALBRECHT (Germany).
1990 I.F.B.B. „MISS OLYMPIA“, NEW YORK.
After 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Malaysia in order to continue the dialogue with DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER invited him as his personal quest to 1990 I.F.B.B. professional „Miss Olympia“ in New York (USA). That was already the 11-th I.F.B.B. Pro „Miss Olympia“ competition. Many top Professional women bodybuilders left the sport as the new „huge muscle“ generation came on Professional stage. Big muscle road started with LENDA MURRAY. Again as it was at the 1989 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Paris (France) and as it was at the 1990 I.F.B.B. World Championship in Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) BEN WEIDER agreed that DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS for negotiations will take one more representative of the Lithuanian Republic. This time DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS took together the 1981 „Amber Prix International“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2025) and Category Winner of the 1988 „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Cup“ («Кубок С.С.С.Р. по культуризму») Champion SAULIUS MISEVICIUS. 1990 „Miss Olympia“ was held at the New York „Beacon Theatre“.
The negotiations about Lithuania entering the I.F.B.B. separate from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.») were held in New York „Hemsley“ hotel. The I.F.B.B. President BEN WEIDER informed DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS about this decission to folow the rules of the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ and not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. steping ove the U.S.S.R..
The places at the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ were as it is: first Lenda Murray (USA), second Bev Francis (Australia), third Anja Schreiner (Germany), fourth Laura Creavalle (USA), fifth Jackie Paisley (USA), sixth Sharon Arrildt (USA).
1990. W.B.F.. VINCE MAC MAHON.
In 1990 there was a big crisis in the I.F.B.B.. I.F.B.B. had no „federation patriots“. Nearly all I.F.B.B. professionals left I.F.B.B.. very active in the new W.B.F. (World Bodybuilding Federation“) were TOM PLATZ and LOU FERRIGNO. Also there were somehow DANNY PADILLA and TONY PEARSON. Famous Pro bodybuildewrs entered newly done federation W.B.F. which was created by American VINCE MAC MAHON. VINCE MAC MAHON made no secret – he wanted to make business of it. In order to collect best professional bodybuilders he declared an uncomparibably very big prize money for bodybuilders. „Joe Weider‘s Olympia“ could not compete with VINCE MAC MAHON‘s prize money. The biggest success was for GARY STRYDOM. He took 275 000 USA dollars then. He got real money. It was not like it is now – they declare big prize money at Pro contests and athletes receive nothing at all. It is a very good way to fool athlets. Do You know at least one Pro bodybuilder who became rich by winning prize money at contests? We mean real prize money, not of selling „supplements“, narcotics or selling even themselves... 1990. I.F.B.B. EUROPE CHAMPIONSHIP.
It was the first time in the history of the U.S.S.R. to hold European Bodybuilding Championship. It was done in 1990 in Leningrad (R.S.F.S.R.). The Category Winners were: women - SUKUPOVA EVA (Czechoslovakian S.S.R.), KLIEBER BETINA (F.R.G., Federal Republic of Germany), MONTEMAGGI CLAUDIA (Italy); men – GROLMUS PAVOL (Czechoslovakian S.S.R.), CARROLL JOHN (Ireland), BARDONI ANGELO (Italy), PAAVO AIN (U.S.S.R., Estonian SSR), HARTL STEFAN (F.R.G.). 1990. „AMBER PRIX INTERNATIONAL“.
There were two important happenings around the1990 „Amber Prix International“ (Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз», 1968 – 2024). The first one was since 1988 lasting negotiations of the Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B. federation separately from the „U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation“ («Федерация культуризма С.С.С.Р.»). Then the process was led by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS. The second one was big wish of the „U.S.S.R. Ministry of Sport“ («Министерство спорта С.С.С.Р.») not to alow Lithuania to enter the I.F.B.B.. This was the reason that together with the 1990 „Amber Prix International“ the „U.S.S.R. Junior Bodybuilding Championship“ («Чемпионат С.С.С.Р. по культуризму среди молодёжи») was held in Klaipeda (Lithuanian Republic). At the contest participated 62 bodybuilders of the National Teams of the folowing countries: R.S.F.S.R., Ukraine SSR, belorussian SSR, Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Estonian SSR, Kazachstan SSR, Georgian SSR. The Category Winners were: Juniors - SLIVKO SERGEJ (Сливко Сергей, Ukraine SSR), JAKOVLEV PAVEL (Яковлев Павел, R.S.F.S.R.), SOLODKOV KIRIL (Солодков Кирилл, R.S.F.S.R.), KABANOVSKIJ DENIS (Кабановский Денис, R.S.F.S.R.), GAVRILOVIC SERGEJ (Гаврилович Сергей, Belorussian SSR). Over All Junior Champion was proclamed KIRIL SOLODKOV. 1990 U.S.S.R. ECONOMIC BLOCKADE TO LITHUANIA.
D.D.R. BODYBUILDERS WANT TO RUIN BLOCKADE.
Socialist Republic of Lithuania was a part of the U.S.S.R. for several decades. On March 11, 1990 Lithuanian Republic restored it‘s independance. In April, 1990 the U.S.S.R. started economic blockade to young Lithuanian Republic. The blockade lasted 75 days. Most goods could not reach the Country. Especially gasoline and oil products.
Communicating with representatives of various countries DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was explaining to them the political situation of Lithuania.
Aiming to stop the blockade bodybuilders of the D.D.R. (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, G.D.R., German Democratic Republic, Г.Д.Р., Германская Демократическая Республика) sent DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS a number of telegrammes and offered help for the Lithuanian Republic. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS connected with the Government of the republic Lithuania and spoke with the Prime Minister KAZIMIERA PRUNSKIENE. The Prime Minister said „lithuania needs no help. We will manage to solve the problem ourselves“.
1990. U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDERS VISITED USA.
In 1990 the U.S.S.R. bodybuilders visited USA. A number of theatric show competitions were organized for them. The event was paid by BILLY PAX. At the same days of the visit the 1990 I.F.B.B. „Miss Olympia“ was held in New York. DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS met the representatives of the U.S.S.R. at one of Manhattan‘s hotels. That were R.S.F.R.S. athletes VELIKOIVANENKO BORIS (Борис Великоиваненко), FATEJEV GRIGORIJ (Григорий Фатеев), JASINOVSKI NIKOLAJ (Николай Ясиновский), IVANIUK ALEKSANDR (Александр Иванюк), bodybuilder of the Lithuanian Republic GORELIK EUGENE (Евгений Горелик), sportsmen of the Belorussian SSR SKARUB VLADIMIR (Владимир Шкарубо), ALEKSANDROVIC VLADIMIR (Владимир Александрович), BOGDANOVIC VALERIJ (Валерий Богданович), GRISANOV NIKOLAJ (Николай Гришанов) and bodybuilders of the Estonian SSR UIT INA (Инна Уйт), PAAVO AIN (Айн Пааво).
1990 SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS.
There were comparitivelly many bodybuilding contests in the Socialist countries in 1990. As the end of the USSR and the Socualist system was closer most bodybuilders lived in their dreames and tried to reach the „Western“ competitions. They could do it only being among the National Team of the USSR. As they were not among the national teams that was the reason that most bodybuilders had to participate at the International Contests in the Socialist countries. In 1990 bodybuilders of Klaipeda bodybuilding federation participated at the competitions in Oradea (Romanian SSR), berlin („Berliner Bar“, GDR, German Democratic republic), Marjanke Lazne and Ruzomberok (Czechoslovakian SSR, „Sandow“, „Trener“, „Diana“).
1990. MAGAZINES OF DSC. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS SPREAD THROUGH THE WORLD.
Bodybuilding was popular sport then. Athletes needed methodical knowlidge. Since DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS started his bodybuilding way in 1969 he translated articles from books ang magazines. The books were a seldom happening as the „Iron Wal“ did not alow it. This way the first magazine „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ („Arnoldas Švarcenegeris rekomenduoja“ «Арнольд Шварценеггер рекомендует») was printed and spread in 2 000 000 issues. Several decades it was the „ABC“ for several generations. This kind of popularity has no other bodybuilding magazine in the World. After „Arnold Schwarzenegger Recommends“ other magazines were printed and successfully distrubuted: „Training Programmes of World‘s Best Bodybuilders“ («Системы упражнений лучших культуристов мира», „Geriausių pasaulio kultūristų pratimų sistemos“), „Bodybuilder“ («Культурист», „Kultūristas“), „Bodybuilding Stars Recommends“ („Kultūrizmo žvaigždės rekomenduoja“, «Звёзды культуризма рекомендуют») and other magazines. Totaly 37 magazines.
Best and short words abou the magazines of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were said by a famous Russian bodybuilder VALERIJ LOKTIONOV: „then the only one source of bodybuilding materials were magazines from Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR) and I did my best to get them. That was really the GOLD TIME OF BODYBUILDING“. All bodybuilders used to copy the sport movement in Baltic countries.

BREAKING SPORT NEWS.
FIRST FITNESS FEDERATION WITHOUT DOPING.
Some time ago a new national fitness organization was registered in Lithuania. That is the “Lithuania Sport Fitness Federation” (L.S.F.F., “Lietuvos sportinio fitneso federacija”). In the nearest future federation will join the World Anti Doping Agency (W.A.D.A.) World Anti Doping Code. Federation declares fitness sport without doping. Federation invites representatives of all possible non doping fitness activities to join it.
Federation stands on position that real fitness sport is without doping when bodybuilding at the same time means total doping. In order to fool the sport society all bodybuilding federations use to hide themselves behind “fitness” name. They present various “fitness categories” which in real are doping bodybuilding categories and could not survive without doping.

BEGINNING. SITUATION IN SOCIALIST WORLD.
Bodybuilding sport has never been created and developed by athletes. Bodybuilding was developed by top officials and organizers. On the bodybuilding way to future organizers were building the road to sport. Bodybuilders were like kilometre signs at this road. Often organizers led bodybuilding wrong way. Today problems of bodybuilding are evident and guilty persons are known very well.
Contemporary bodybuilding does not appear as it is. Only few persons dared to act when bodybuilding was prohibited in Socialist Countries. Being afraid of prosecution nearly all bodybuilders left the sport.
We will speak about bodybuilding in Czechoslovakian SSR – they influenced all Socialist Countries. Now after fifty years we look upon our relations with Czechoslovaks from another angle.
Due to political reasons bodybuilding was prohibited in Socialist World in 1973. Socialist States started to prosecute bodybuilders. After 1968 revolution in Czechoslovakia their Government was lojal to bodybuilders. At the same time bodybuilders in other Socialist Countries suffered much. Everybody envied the Czechoslovaks. There is no another person who was and still is close to Czechoslovak bodybuilding so much as DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS.
Activities of DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS were supported only by the leader of bodybuilding in Estonian SSR INNAR MARDO (Иннар Мардо, 1945 – 2002) and creators of famous „Vilnius Bodybuilding School“ («Вильнюсская школа культуризма») CESLAV TAMULEVIC (Чеслав Тамулевич) and VITALIJ ASOVSKIJ (Виталий Асовский). Today we are proud that we respected both of them in time – at the Parliament Republic Lithuania both received „International Honour Silver Medals“ («Международной Серебрянной Медалью Почёта», „Tarptautinis Garbės Sidabro Medalis“).
During the prohibition of bodybuilding only few officially permitted not regular contests were held in Tallinn (Estonian SSR). That was the International „Georg Tenno Memorial“ („Georgo Tenno memorialas“, «Мемориал Георга Тенно», 1971 – 2024). Also at the same time several underground and not officially permitted contests were organized in Lithuanian SSR. It lasted until in 1978 DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS dared to write bodybuilding defending petition and brought it to Headquaretrs of the Central Committee of the U.S.S.R. Communist Party in Moscow.
This way we got political permittion to organize the International „Amber Prix“ („Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз» 1968 - 2025) in Klaipeda (Lithuania SSR) in 1978.
Being afraid of prosecution all orther U.S.S.R. bodybuilding organizers did nothing. After defeat at 1974 „Georg Tenno Memorial“ best R.S.F.S.R. bodybuilder VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин) isolated himself and left bodybuilding for thirteen years. Only in 1980 representing their gyms Russians led by VLADIMIR SUBOV (Владимир Шубов, Moscow) and EUGENE KOLTUN (Евгений Колтун, Tiumen) started particiapting at bodybuilding contests in Baltic Countries.

BEGINNING.
Until now official World and Socialist bodybuilding history is presented as a mistake. The basis of the history is incorrect. It is a mistake when we use to say that bodybuilders built and developed sport of bodybuilding. No, not bodybuilders. Bodybuilders were training and participating at the competitions only. Do winning bodybuilders developed sport anyhow? No, not at all. For bodybuilders somebody else had to organize competitions, to get permeations, support, venue places, awards and to collect participants. To say more – somebody had to publicize information about contests and bodybuilders. Otherwise until now nobody would even hear anything about a single bodybuilder.
All bodybuilding organizations, federations were created not by bodybuilders. Organizations were created by functioneers and organizers. During the history of bodybuilding sport there were only few Internationally important persons - organizers. Organizers are the main persons of bodybuilding sport. We will speak shortly in this article. Anyway it will be a long story to put it down.
BEGINNING OF BODYBUILDING SPORT.

Contemporary N.A.B.B.A. (National Amateur Body Building Association) history writer SI SWEENEY in his articles even does not mention the real first “Mr. Universe” contest. Also he writes incorrect information about the second “Mr. Universe” competition.
The same do writers who write about the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) history. These they underline that there was nothing before the WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN I.F.B.B. Commercial Company. They neglect the previous BOB HOFFMAN’s (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898 - 1985 m.) “Bodybuilding Empire” which WEIDER brothers copied from beginning to the very end.
Many people want to rise themselves and they create unreal stories. Next followers use their creations and go on developing them.
1947. FIRST “MR. UNIVERSE” CONTEST.
The first real “Bodybuilding Empire” was created through the A.A.U. (Amateur Athletic Union) in the USA by American BOBO HOFFMAN. In real A.A.U. united USA National Federations and it was the Ministry of Sport in the USA. They use to call BOBO HOFFMAN “the father of America Weightlifting”. A.A.U. since 1939 was organizing USA bodybuilding “Mr. America” contests. BOB HOFFMAN wanted to make bodybuilding an official recognized sport through A.A.U. and F.I.H. (Federation Internationale Halterophile). USA weightlifting though A.A.U. was a member of the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H. Later F.I.H. name was changed to F.I.H.C. (F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturisme) when F.I.H. started ruling World’s bodybuilding sport. BOB HOFFMAN decided to do the same with bodybuilding.
In 1947 F.I.H. organized the World Weightlifting Championship and International Congress in Philadelphia (USA). Under the efforts of BOB HOFFMAN the International Congress decided to lead and control World’s bodybuilding on official level. This way for twenty years bodybuilding became officially recognized sport. It was immediately decided to organize the first in Sport’s History International Bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” contest alongside with the F.I.H. World Weightlifting Championship in Philadelphia. Then the Over All “Mr. Universe” Champion was a pupil of BOB HOFFMAN a famous America weightlifter STEVE STANKO. That was a Historical Happening and STEVE STANKO became a Historical Person.
1948. SECOND “MR. UNIVERSE’ IN LONDON.
It was a tradition of F.I.H. not to organize World Weightlifting Championship in “Olympic” years. What to do with the second F.I.H. bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ competition? Then the idea to organize the F.I.H. bodybuilding “Mr. Universe” during the 1948 “Olympic Games” struck BOB HOFFMAN. There were real ways because F.I.H. was a member of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). BOB HOFFMAN addressed British OSCAR STATE who was the President of B.A.W.L.A. (British Amateur Weight Lifting Association) to assist him. At the same time B.A.W.L.A. asked the Chairmen of the British Bodybuilding “Health and Strength” Magazine to assist them too. Through F.I.H. departments in various countries B.A.W.L.A. invited athletes to the contest in London. At the same time BOB HOFFMAN brought USA bodybuilders to compete. There were 1800 spectators at the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe” in London. All money profit of the competition went to B.A.W.L.A.. After several preliminary rounds the finalists were ANDRE DRAPP (France) and Americans JOHN GRIMEK and STEVE REEVES. JOHN GRIMEK was proclaimed the Over All Winner of the second F.I.H. “Mr. Universe”. STEVE REEVES spoke on microphone saying that “John Grimek is the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived“.
1950. FIRST N.A.B.B.A. “MR. UNIVERSE”.
In 1950 under the efforts of the Chairmen of “Health and Strength” Magazine N.A.B.B.A. association was created in the Great Britain. As the former N.A.B.B.A. President IVAN DUNBAR told us – N.A.B.B.A. Association was juridically registered as a „Public Club“. In 1950 N.A.B.B.A. organized the first “Mr. Universe” in London. The Over All Champion was STEVE REEVES (USA). At the same time a member of the International Olympic Committee F.I.H.C. went on organizing it’s own “Mr. Universe” contest. Comparing with N.A.B.B.A. “Mr. Universe” F.I.H.C. competitions were the official ones. For the two decades no one could confront F.I.H.C. as the official Bodybuilding Sport was under F.I.H.C. control. Even the Commercial I.F.B.B. Company of the WEIDER brothers JOE and BEN could not imagine to think being equal to F.I.H.C..
1959. BOB HOFFMAN BRINGS BODYBUILDING TO SOCIALIST COUNTRIES.
In 1959 the USA „Father of Weightlifting“ BOB HOFFMAN through the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C. first time brought bodybuilding sport to the Socialist Countries. That was the World Weightlifting Championship in Warszawa - the Capital of the Polish Democratic Republic. Then F.I.H.C. organized the traditional bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“ in Warszawa too. Over All Winner was GUY MEIRCZUK (born in 1936, France). Right after this Bodybuilding Committe of Poland was created. First President was the „Father of Polish Bodybuilding“ STANISLAW ZAKRZEWSKI.
IN 1963 FIRST INTERNATIONAL BODYBUILDING ORGANIZATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN SOCIALIST WORLD.
In 1963 under direct influence American BOB HOFFMAN and British OSCAR STATE and the initiative of the F.I.H.C. (F.I.H., Federation Internationale Halterophile, later F.I.H.C., Federation Internationale Halterophile et Culturiste, later I.W.F., International Weightlifting Federation) in the U.S.S.R. was established first International Bodybuilding Organization (Общественный комитет атлетической гимнастики С.С.С.Р.). of the Socialist World. The U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry (Goskomsport, Госкомспорт С.С.С.Р.) appointed a known Russia weightlifter ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз) as the President of this Organization. Then the U.S.S.R. was not ready to face this innovation and the new organization worked only formally. We would like to underline that the I.F.B.B. federation (International Federation of Body Builders) was created only in 1970 in Belgrade (Yugoslavia) by the General Secretary F.I.H.C. OSCAR STATE.
Real bodybuilding started in 1968 when another new Organization was created in Lithuania. Again the formal Chairman of the new Organization was the above mentioned ROMAN MOROZ. He was the man to connect bodybuilders with the Ministry of Sport of the U.S.S.R.. In real bodybuilding sport in the U.S.S.R. was governed by other people. They were Russian GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин) and two Lithuanians VALERIJ KORESHKOV (Валерий Корешков) and VYTAUTAS ZUMERIS. That were the requirements of the „communist times and the communist regime“.
1966. FIRST SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.
In 1966 a bodybuilding contest was organized in Moscow (Russia) where the winner was IGOR PETRUCHIN (Игорь Петрухин, Russia). Also in 1966 the first in the Socialist Countries International Bodybuilding competition was organized in Vilnius (Lithuania). The Winners were IGOR PETRUCHIN, RYTIS MACIJAUSKAS and KLEMENSAS ALSHAUSKAS (both Lithuania); second places won Russian GENADIJ BALDIN, Lithuanians CESLAV TAMULEVICH (Чеслав Тамулевич) and ANATOLIJ PRIC (Анатолий Приц); third places went to Russian MARK SHAFRAN and Lithuanians RIMANTAS ZUJUS and ALGIMANTAS RAMANAUSKAS.

HIGH EVALUATION OF WORK DONE.
On June, 2013 the International President of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS paid the Official Visit to the Ukraine City Lvov.
Having beautiful historic background and nice history rich with the original architectural monuments and buildings Lvov with it‘s 800 000 Citizen is a real old European City.
Coming to Lvov the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS was respectfully met by the Lvov City Official Representatives and who followed him to the best ancient Lvov City „Leopolis“ Hotel Apartments.
After the evaluation of the International work done by the President W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the Lvov Stavropigion University (started it‘s history in 1788) Academic Council presented EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS the Honorable Academic „University Science Doctor‘s“ Degree (Doctor Honoris Causa, Doctor of Sciences, DSc). And this is the Highest Academic Degree.
At the Lvov City Stavropigion University Honour Ceremony were present many High Representatives of Science, among them the Rector of Lvov Stavropigion University, Vice President the U.N.E.S.C.O. Program Centre Professor DSc. JAROSLAV KMIT (Ярослав Кмiт), the Rector Moscow University and Academic of the International Academy of Euroasia, Academic Science Academy of High Schools Ukraine, Professor VIKTOR IDZIO (Вiктор Iдзьо).

GLOBAL TELEVISION C.N.N. PRESENTED W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. TO A BILLION PEOPLE WORLD WIDE.
FOREIGN MINISTRY REPUBLIC LITHUANIA WORKS WITH W.F.F.-W.B.B.F..
Today the International Federation W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) unites 141 Country-Members from all Continents. Every year W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. holds over 60 International Events in various Countries.
C.N.N. NEWS PRESENTED W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. TO A BILLION PEOPLE WORLD WIDE.
Some time ago the Global C.N.N. (Cable News Network) television made a special report on the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. events that were held in Klaipeda (E.U., Republic Lithuania) in May, 2017. That were the 50-th „Amber Prix International“ («Янтарный приз», «Gintarinis Prizas“, 1968 - 2025) and the 18-th „Universe“ contests. Due to this a billion (milliard) people World Wide had a possibility to see the work of the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International.
C.N.N. is one of the World‘s most important International News Television Companies. We do not remember that C.N.N. ever reported about bodybuilding sport before. Positively reported... We are proud that the report was about the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International Events, that had happened in Lithuania, European Union.
Before this the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International also had a number of reports on other International Television Companies, such as „Eurosport“, „Sky News“ and many national televisions of various countries through the World.
FOREIGN MINISTRY REPUBLIC LITHUANIA WORKS WITH W.F.F.-W.B.B.F.
Receiving the information about the C.N.N. preparations to make a report from the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International events in Lithuania, the Lithuania Republic Foreign Ministry officials addressed the International President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and assisted him in the common work with the C.N.N. television.
W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. ALWAYS WAS NON KOMMERCIAL SPORT ORGANIZATION.
During the sixty years of it‘s activities the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. always kept on the real sport side. Though there were various political and economical difficulties, the federation never stopped working on (read historical articles on the International Site www.wff.lt).
W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. athletes always had possibilities to seek the highest titles at the International recognized official contests. Historic statistics prove the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. is a prestigious International Federation among all federations. One can organize several successful competitions, but it is not the same as sixty years of serious stable work. The power of the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. – sixty years of constant International Sport work.
Today the valuables of the mankind changed. For most people money means everything. No morality, only money and lies. The 3000 years lasting Bible Concept of Ruling Mankind is close to the end. Today most of International Sport Organizations are commercial. Even W.A.D.A. (World Anti Doping Agency) seeks profit and this is the reason that not every International Sport Organization can join W.A.D.A.. Such mentioned above organizations proclaimed commerce, not sport. It is a theatre of absurd now and we were writing about this many times before.
W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. will remain conservative and it will not follow other commercial sport organizations. W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. will remain on the real sport side and this is our priority.
In difference to other organizations W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. collaborates with the recognized International Sport Institutions, National Governmental Structures and representatives of all religions. All of them notice and valuate the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. activities. We see the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. as a strong friendly unit and this is our power.
